I know that she is of Armenian origin and that may be why I feel close to her. Even though there are problems between us now, we Turks and Armenians have lived together for many years in history. Our food, our traditions, our swearing have influenced each other and made us richer. That's why I was happy to hear these curses today:) Love to Sona and team coco from Istanbul❤

Lmao! But I believe there were some changes on words from what have been said and what was heard over the years; just like playing kid's game 'telephone'. I never heard anyone say "babanın canına sıçayım" but I heard a lot "babanın sıçayım". What I think that "şarap çanağı" might have evolved to "çanağına (bowl) sıçayım" by dropping the word "şarap (wine)", and it might have evolved to "canına (spirit/life) sıçayım" as Sona have said. For a non-native ears, "canına" and "çanağına" may be heard very similiar especially if spoken by Thracians/Balkans/Greek/Armenian dialect.
I wanted to share one or two single frame comics about "babanın şarap çanağı (wine bowl of your father)" but I guess I can't share a link, otherwise my comment could fall into spam and never shown.
Bonus info: The word "can" can be mean both "spirit/soul" and "life". "Can -lı" means "with spirit" and "with life" used for all living things and "can -sız" mean "without spirit" also "without life" for things that are dead or inanimate.

Absolutely. Old world curses, like the ones Sona learned from her dad, are some of the best.

Sonia is Armenian. When I heard the swear words she said today as a Turk, it was funny and took me back to the past. Nobody shits someone else's father's soul anymore. I miss the days when we taught these things to the Armenians. I hope life is a circle and we will experience everything we experienced with the Armenians again.

I heard some Armenian people taught their kids Turkish so they can curse properly. By the way, they are a good part of Turkish society and culture. A lot of pieces of art made by Armenians. Like the biggest mosques like Suleymaniye, Selimiye and so on.
