NH changed that. Bunch of kids and no real substance. None of them really played the others. Although it's getting them to, which is awesome in my eyes so I don't really mind either way. I do miss the old vibe of the community. It was a lot more casual and everyone still was cherishing their early AC days. Mostly teenagers and adults tbh.

When I used to play this game, I figured out that you could change the clock to go back to Saturday night to meet K.K. Slider. Unfortunately, the 24-hour clock really confused me, so I often found myself playing at three in the morning rather than in the afternoon... those meetings with Wisp really scared the shit out of me. XD
Daniel SV I do not have a driver's license so i can't yet. But i watch all the big tournaments and i have pretty good tech skill at this point. Also what i said is not entirely true, i do play with my brother sometimes and i have a friend that i play with too(neither are quite as dedicated as i am though). So i still do end up in my basement practicing tech a lot.
I'll just come home and get really stoned and listen to this and have the nicest most relaxing time of my life. However, this soundtrack is so good that you don't need anything like that to enjoy it. Point is, if you're someone who hasn't listened to this for some reason, you definitely should and I have actually recommended this to people.

Slight mechanics improvements aside, I think New Leaf is way worse than the original. The music is outright garbage, the shop closing times were turned on their head just to give you a reason to use your limited mayor abilities, having everything on "main street" is just an annoying way to put everything behind fifty loading screens... I could complain for a really long time. I like New Leaf and really appreciate the few improvements there are... but come on. How your character looks is still completely semi-random, getting your hair done is a pointless minigame for the third game in a row, and because Nintendo's focused on selling people games we've all had for 25 years now, you can't even dig up NES games anymore. Give me a break, no one would actually buy CluClu Land or Balloon Fight (especially not DK Junior MATH), they aren't even fun games, just throw them in so I can have an NES in my house again. Animal Crossing is going down the same path of "improvements" that Pokemon has gone down - they know people will buy it as long as they advertise the hell out of the one or two new features that realistically could have been there from the beginning, and they make sure to hide that they took out features that made the previous entry really special and unique.
This one has by far the best dialogue out of all the games though, I don't know if the better gameplay of New Leaf can make up for that.. Edit: haha just read the comment above mine, to be fair, all non-gc Animal Crossing dialogue is garbage

dont know if you know this but the game was originally an n64 game, but came as the console was fading in popularity. so the japan release was a port from n64 to gamecube
It's a port so I'm not suprised and also it truly makes for a unique experience. A modified version that runs smoother, but retains the N64 visuals. It's literally one of a kind to a degree. I'm sure there are other games, but it's honestly just such a rare occurrence for such ports to exist.
For some reason, with all due respect to my all-time fave composer, Kazumi Totaka, the music in the first Animal Crossing game is actually the most nostalgic to me. The friendly harmonica tone and whatnot are noticeably, mainly absent in later games...
I love how with each hour up to 12 pm, the signature ding dong sound gets louder and faster, symbolizing waking up slowly. Also just love this game, and still play it, actually!

I can't even explain how much I love this game and his music! I used to play this game as much as I could, and I would play it every Saturday-morning when my parents were asleep. I was the first game I've ever got and I loved it already since I saw the first commercial! I didn't know how to read English back then ( I was only 5 years old and English is not my native language), but then it was still fun. I miss those old days..

The music for the first Animal Crossing game is one of the main reasons i wanted to come back to the game. as much as i love many of the new things that cames like new leaf has given, i can't get attached to the game as much as i can for gamecube version. if there was a way to get nintendo to see that then i'd be a happy camper.

We don't want that. We would never have, they didn't think about that? Got it. Shows what they think of loyal fans to the franchise for over 20 years. New Leaf was the last true Animal Crossing game. GB and NL are the best, imo. But WW and CF are absolutely spectacular too. It's as if they used to always hit the nail by respecting prior installments of the franchise. So excuse me if NH is such a monumental disappointment to older fans and/or if this is offensive. I really don't care; it's my opinion. AC community changed so hard. RIP to all of you guys. I went back and listened to the gamecube AC music and, while it does hold the most nostalgia for me, I think that the NL music is better. While the AC:GC music is super recognizable and easily attached to the AC franchise, I believe that the AC:NL bgm fits the times of the day better. The 2 am bgm in AC:GC is up-beat and what not, which is not what I want to necessarily hear at 2 am.
