It depends of what kind of emergency, I teach many different methods that people can adapt tp whatever needs they have, This is not for begginers If someone is in hurry they can just climb or rappel without the hitch, it takes about 15 seconds to do without thw hitch@@rw1606
Nice, I used to work for the guy who invented the Blake Hitch. Jason Blake from Northern California. It's amazing how that hitch is used around the world
That's pretty cool. The Blake's was all I used until I moved onto French Prussiks and micro pulleys. And then onto SRT. Will still opt for the Blake's when using my tail for secondary tie in. I'm using French Prussiks here as a general term for smaller cordage, closed loop setups
This is the Best! I have seen several self-rescue rope tying harness. But this one I can easily remember. I just started a rope climbing channel. I will show it and give you credit. Thanks, and love those cat rescue videos.
Great method! I was taught how to absail down with just a rope by wrapping it around your legs and upper body in a figure of eight. There's enough resistance to hold you but you can move down by easing the rope up. And then I went and did it - all good but you do need to be careful at the top of your legs! I don't recommend anyone to try this, your method's much safer.
Cool setup, in a pinch. Especially the added chest harness portion, which I assume would make this safer. Note: Lengthen your bridge when using the Blake's hitch, you'll get much longer strides. And the stopper knot was necessary with the tautline hitch, which could roll out, but IMHO not really necessary with the Blake's. Just leave a reasonable length (4") tail
Man you have showman skills! I'm still not exactly sure how you do the lower leg loops. Me and my brother new this Ninja guy back when we were young. One day after a few lessons he run and jumped over my sisters freakin horse.
Nice video, but the obvious qualification for this method is that you first have to get your rope up and over a smooth support structure somewhere above you. This requires a throwing knot or a throw bag with a haul line.
I have a video on how to throw rope high over stuff on instagram for rigging from the ground, NinjatayRigging There is many scenarios that you could use this for, ofcourse it is not always possible to do this, But im sharing many different techniques for knowledge 🙃
The other thing you might consider is to use a figure eight loop for the chest loop. It works just as well and is less likely to pull tight around the chest as you ascend.@@ninjatayrigging
@@ericforsman7787 Good idea but I think it is harder to make the right loop measurement and right lenght and so on if done a f8, I experiment alot, Will try to upgrade this system, Let me know if you find better solutions 🤟

Yes you can, But if you use stiff ropes like caving ropes it will have less friction with blakes hitch, Can still work but you have to really dress the knot properly
Really good question, I did not specify that this is only for fire emergencys but ofcourse you can do this in those cases So for short cut, you can skip the ascending/descending knot and obly do the harness and rappel down freely with friction around your feet and hands or acsend without autolocking knot and controll the ascendinh with hands and feet The ascending/descending knot is for special purposes if someone needs to ascend/descend safer rather than quicker
Good question, The "coolest part" is that you can ascend and climb up stuff with just a rope without harness and in a safer way than free climbing, You can also descend down stuff with auto breaking system rather than freely descend wthout safety
Yes, You can. I have experimented with many different rope types and diameters Some ropes are stiffer than others and stiff ropes like caving ropes can have less friction on the knots and then it is super important to tight it and dress the knot as good as possible.

Hi bro. Is the rope you use dynamic or static? I bought a rope but I can't do "twists". Does the size of the rope matter? My rope is 10 mm.
Nope. I use both and both are the same. If you can explain a little bit more then i will help you.
