      It depends of what kind of emergency, I teach many different methods that people can adapt tp whatever needs they have, This is not for begginers
      If someone is in hurry they can just climb or rappel without the hitch, it takes about 15 seconds to do without thw hitch@@rw1606

      That's pretty cool. The Blake's was all I used until I moved onto French Prussiks and micro pulleys. And then onto SRT. Will still opt for the Blake's when using my tail for secondary tie in. I'm using French Prussiks here as a general term for smaller cordage, closed loop setups

    Great method! I was taught how to absail down with just a rope by wrapping it around your legs and upper body in a figure of eight. There's enough resistance to hold you but you can move down by easing the rope up. And then I went and did it - all good but you do need to be careful at the top of your legs! I don't recommend anyone to try this, your method's much safer.

    Cool setup, in a pinch. Especially the added chest harness portion, which I assume would make this safer. Note: Lengthen your bridge when using the Blake's hitch, you'll get much longer strides. And the stopper knot was necessary with the tautline hitch, which could roll out, but IMHO not really necessary with the Blake's. Just leave a reasonable length (4") tail

    Nice video, but the obvious qualification for this method is that you first have to get your rope up and over a smooth support structure somewhere above you. This requires a throwing knot or a throw bag with a haul line.

      The other thing you might consider is to use a figure eight loop for the chest loop. It works just as well and is less likely to pull tight around the chest as you ascend.@@ninjatayrigging

    How does this work in a fire? Is there a short cut ? What if I dont know all those different knots ?

    • @ninjatayrigging
      @ninjatayrigging  9 місяців тому

      Really good question, I did not specify that this is only for fire emergencys but ofcourse you can do this in those cases
      So for short cut, you can skip the ascending/descending knot and obly do the harness and rappel down freely with friction around your feet and hands or acsend without autolocking knot and controll the ascendinh with hands and feet
      The ascending/descending knot is for special purposes if someone needs to ascend/descend safer rather than quicker
