Love it mate. I used to own a mint hothouse vy ss . I learnt a lot of DIY on that car. Steering rack, water pump, alternator, amongst many other things. Keep the videos coming, even if its just swapping parts out showing some DIY. Try get your mates 'split' engine covers from his vz. Look so much better than turtle shell. You only need to remove the brackets that hold the turtle shell in, and the vz ones clip right on. Really shows the v8 nicely
Man if your doing the throw out bearing and rear main seal up grade the oil dumbbell while your there it one of the best ls1 upgrades. Keep up the good content 👍🏼
Hi Mark. Great content there mate. Great to catch up again on your channel. I love seeing you drive this car as that is the second car that you remind me of - alongside the associated song with this car as well - Rise - Daryl Braithwaite. One day if I ever saw your partner on your channel these days, I will then have to let you know what car she would remind me off alongside with a associated song for the car too🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Cheers from William. Gday William! Hope you’re good mate, I’ll be blasting that song today on my way to my parents place for ya, hopefully I get my partner on the channel soon I would absolutely love to see what song you associate with her haha, take care mate 👍
@@Marc180sx same to you my friend. I have been driving my AU Falcon from November 16th to Ceduna - until November 19th, Then heading home to my Mum's, Adelaide. if your having issues with the power not turning off when you get out of the car, when it happens again try quickly pressing the drivers door switch a couple of times. You can also enter the dash settings (hold menu button then turn key to on) and change the cars "Accessory Control" setting from the "door open power off" to "key out power off" or even "key off power off". For those that are unaware there are many other setting in there too. Under speed chime on/off, Display distance to go on/off, stop watch on/off, Radio display on/off, Beeps on/off, Speed dependent radio volume, Audio distortion limiter on/off, Headlights off delay time, Headlights approach time, Auto headlight sensitivity, Courtesy lamp timeout, ignition off courtesy lamp, 2 stage unlock on/off, Auto lock in drive on/off, Door lock indication (indicators/horn) and Accessory control (when to turn off accessories power)
Another 1 not many people seem to know about is the deadbolt door locks. double press the lock button, listen closely to the door handle and you will hear a deadbolt engage. the doors cannot be opened from the inside or out. if the battery goes flat while deadbolt is on, you can unlock with the key by turning it a little bit further than normal, it might feel like your about to break the key but it will go into a second stage turn. (the lock button inside will not pop up until power is restored but the door will be unlocked just pull the handle. I also owned a 94 VR that had this, I have no idea if it goes back as far as the VN's and VP's@@Marc180sx
Great Car I have a sting red SS Manual wagon brought it Brand New Same leather Interier Love It my daily Drive, I noticed you have a Broken front right Exhaust Bolt Just like Mine
I got a VZ SS and don’t recommend lowering it. Mine is standard and I still wipe out the bottom of the front spoiler sometimes. Busted the clips more times than I can remember. Got a new front bumper now - about $800 later.
@@Marc180sx it’s the type of car you soon realise that not all curbs/gutters are built to the same height. I try to back into parking spots now. Helps having a reversing camera setup with my double DIN size Apple CarPlay head unit. 😀
That's odd, I have a vx s manual daily with SSL king springs all round and I never scrape, the springs are quite old so have plenty of time to settle in. Maybe the VZ SS front bumper sits slightly lower, and with a V8 could be a 1cm or so lower.
i have a r33 skyline sedan turbo manual with a bit over 400k kms got it a year ago with 380k and it runs perfect very stock, compression is a bit average around 120-140 but shes still mint
Love it! Random question, but how wide is your garage? I'm building a new house with 7.5m wide garage and wondering if it will fit a 3rd car in it like you have. Cheers
Wstchng from nz . I have a vy ss just got it this year after i sent my ranger through the flood ( no snorkler ) 😅 but my tailshsft just fked out . Gonna have to to diy . Any guidlines to replace it lad . Cheers
Tailshaft shouldn’t be too hard to replace mate, ratchet spanners are your friend in this case but I reckon just give it a crack and take your time mate!
They are good engines, everyone just gives it alot of shit because the timing chains go if you dont maintain it properly. The key to alloytec is proper maintenance. Frequent oil changes, good oil, cleaning rocker covers and they will last a long time. I have a mate with a 05 vz exec(alloytec) with over 300,000kms. They are ultimately a bit more expensive than ecotecs to maintain, but they have much more power and are more refined.
Adjustable swabars wake them up. Would never drive a commodore without them again. B**$^ to fit. I had to weld brakets around the front bar to secure link locks. And put them in the correct possition so bar didn't contact.
If a cars been serviced well warmed up properly and country/highway ks they can last for years, a low km stop start city car is far worse!!! No reason this wouldn't be the original motor I love mint high k cars
Had a series 1 vy ss manual back when they were new. Was a monster. Wife even did super sprints in it. Just needed bigger brakes. Have fun.
That’s so cool to hear mate! Cheers 😎
Such a nice exhaust sound!
always great when marc uploads, can't wait to see Lauren and the AU

Great vid Marc. I still can’t get over how clean the SS is.
She’s pretty clean for what she is! A bit of paint work and she’ll be mint 👌
I’m thinking of buying a ss with a manual and your vid’s have helped heaps. Keep up the great work 👍👍👍
Definitely couldn’t consider one enough man! They’re awesome cars 🙏
Such a nice car, Marc! Great work, mate.
Cheers mate, appreciate it heaps! 👍
Vy ss looks so good, I had the vz ss but always wanted a vy ss.
Damn I miss that car bro. That’s the standard engine never been replaced or rebuilt
I bet you do man, that’s absolutely amazing! Hope to bump into you around town in it haha

Looking good for a an SS of that age. By any chance is ur mate’s vz ss manual because I kind of want a silver knob instead of the black one I have.
Nah he’s is auto unfortunately :(
That’s a lot of ks for a v8 some people expect to much lol it isn’t a diesel so your up for a rebuild 💯
I have a spare low Km LS sitting on my engine stand worst case, would love to compression test this on and see how much I am “up for a rebuild”

Can you please explain how removing a factory engine cover on a standard N.A. engine will stop "heat soak"?
Ppl always say the turtle shells keep in heat and cook the coils but don’t know how true that is

Why get the VY? Surely a 2016 VE SSV can’t be costing that much these days.
Wasn’t a huge fan of the VE’s, Vy’s have been my favourite since I was little !
I’ve had both the VE SSV and VY 1 SS and honestly thought the VY was a better looking car.
