My favorite part of "Saving your disaster campaigns" is when Legend gets annoyed with the players choices and his inner rat man comes out with his frustrated snarls
Personally, when I played Throt, I just threw a lot of money at Wulfrik, who took over Norsca, at the start and he was my reluctant friend/trade partner for the entire campaign. It helps that you tend to fight the Empire a lot because they like you for it.
Thats the way....you even can enter to war against his norsca rival to ensure his friedship...and if he doesn´t like it...you always can sack norsca to replenish food and cash...is better that ocuppy that shitty lands...
Yes I did the same, worked really well. Wulfrik confederated all other Norscans and now owns all of the North. World Walkers are my trusted friends and trade partners for over 150 turns now. ;-)
i personally made friends with throgg over our mutual war with kraka drak, and he ended up winning up norsca and being a good friend throughout the entire campaign
So, this was my save and yes, im aware that I have made some mistakes (some being an understatement) I'm still a relatively new player and still learning how the game works, what to do and what not to do (like conquer Norsca, summon Vat units the moment they come in, etc.). After playing games as each race, I found that I enjoy the Skaven the most, more specifically, Ikit Claw and Deathmaster Snikch but I wanted to give Throt another try. I did have a few Skaven Undercities, however, just on far ends of the map since I wouldn't be conquering them soon. I had one in Naggarond, Lothern, and Black Craig (however, that one got razed down). While I didn't have the mining building, I know that I can build that to spread out. The reason why I went to war with Norsca is because as I was clearing out the dwarves that you start at war with, I remembered that they were an annoyance constantly going to war with me (despite dealing with Empire and non-aggression packs) so I said screw it and decided to deal with them. It wasn't until much later that I realized that it was a bad idea but I decided to live with the mistake. I have a rough plan on what to do from here, whether it'll work, I'll find out.
It's all good, you'll only learn and get better. Remember that Legend doesn't mean anything personally, he just knows exactly how to play optimally. Now you can kill-kill so well!
Follow rat-messiah Legend for the proper way to play-play (Don't worry about it bud, I tried invading Norsca as Bretonnia one time and it was a complete friggin disaster. It's just basically a big trap - low income settlements, corruption, low movement range, you get picked apart up there. I'm impressed you were able to do it, especially now with Norscas ability to aquire huge swaths of land by just beating the faction leader)
51:11 I found a good way to get control over the wolfrats that you summoned way faster (works with any summons in tactical btl). Instead of having 4-5secs where the summoned unit can’t be controlled, you can actually give them the order of attack immediately IF you have one of your main units selected in the same time with them. So you summon the wolfrats, then make a square immediately englobing any of your main units + the wolfrat (or wolfrats, plural), click on the target to attack (all will immediately move onto the target), then select the main army unit selected with previously, and giving it any counter-order of movement to cancel the order of attacking the target designated for the wolfrats. And there it goes, only summoned units attack, and they immediately go on target, not wasting the time of the animation where they pop up from their underground tunnel… It’s a lot faster like that 🙂 GG Btw, very efficient job as always 👍
I've been doing this on accident from time to time and was losing my mind trying to figure out how I was getting them to attack immediately on summon. Thanks for finally providing context and saving my sanity.
To be fair the AI is just weird sometimes. I'm playing a von carstin campaign. I had some random high elve faction declare war on me and send a army my way. Yet I'm bordering bretonnia and the dwarves and their leaving me alone.
Legend literally is the perfect representation of Skaven. (gameplay) If his voice doesn't appear for a skaven character, sometime, I am going to be pissed. Even if it's just his "Skaven laugh". The dude fucking deserves the recognition.
Major mistakes this player did: - going against Norsca - not keeping vat units in reserve - not keeping RoR in reserve - not creating max tier settlements - not hiring Knowledgeable Grey Seers - not focusing on getting Cunning or Sneaky heroes
@C U Next Tuesday I always send my first engineer from the rite to make an undercity in the High Elves. Wastes a few turns getting there. Setting up the expansion buildings there. Then eventually I will get all the slots I will ever need.
@C U Next Tuesday Sure, Under-cities should be constructed in a place where you don't want to expand or even on allied territory. One more reason to keep Norsca as friends playing as Moulder - you can establish under-cities there :)
Why go after Norsca? Norsca is best left alone to harass the empire imo. Taking out Norsca only helps the Empire. Playing as the Skaven the open field battles are best cause you can take advantage of ambush and scurry tactics, that imo is Skaven's greatest strength. Love your vids @LegendofTotalWar. I've learned so much about the game watching your master tactics...Thanks!
As good as skaven field battle tactics are, they still pale in comparison to skaven wall defenses and warp bombs. If anything their expendable mass units are even stronger in siege defense as you want constant tarpits to slow the enemy down, and enemy siege weps are mincemeat to menace below.
@@Musabre I'd argue with it TBH. Skaven garrisons are amazing but garrisoned minor settlements can't be effectively protected if enemy has strong flyers. Basically Karl Franz with regen or Boris can single-handedly take a minor walled settlement because they'll terror-route all your troops. @@alexeyalexandrov7583 I never said minor settlements were effective, and i would presume (maybe naively) that most skaven players know this and don't waste too much time trying to guard them. But skaven Major settlements with walls are incredibly tough to lose to siege.

Hey @LegendofTotalWar, Im a fairly new player to TW:WH2, and have never really played RTS before. Really enjoying it, but feel like I'm making tons of mistakes. Do you think you could do a tier list of beginner friendly factions or updated guides to things like "how to skill up lords/heroes"?
HE Tyrion is good for beginners. About skills Every time you get a skill point think like this: 1-Movement range first 2-whatever improves the faction as a whole that benefits your strategy second(eg: unit capacity increase and global public order increase) 3-whatever improves the army MOST third(most points will be spent here) 4-What makes the hero/lord stronger last. That is the easy part, the hard part is figuring out what strategy you are aiming for before you have access to some skills/units since you need to start leveling up to get there. Example: If you want to build a ranged based army, you should know that ammo is going to be a problem when facing multiple armies and you will be doing that a lot. So getting to the Lightning Strike ASAP should take priority over let say boosting your missile damage of your ranged units.
