9:00 I wouldn't say that Stoick doesn't trust Hiccup. He's actually doing a better job at listening in this scene than he was in the first movie. He's just so excited about passing on his knowledge and teaching Hiccup what it means to be a chief and to serve his people that he's unintentionally brushing Hiccup's concerns aside. He's hearing what Hiccup has to say now, even responding by telling him that what happens outside of Berk shouldn't be their concern, but he's too preoccupied/enthusiastic about his own priorities that he's not fully paying attention until Hiccup mentions Drago. He's certainly not perfect, but he's come a long way from just talking over his son and completely domineering their conversations. I love how for the first half or so of the movie it sort of leads the viewer down the path of 'Hiccup completely takes after his mother', but Hiccup's eulogy and Valka's little speech during the funeral serves to remind the viewer just how much Hiccup takes after Stoick as well. "How do you become someone that great? That brave? That... selfless? I guess... you can only... try." "You have the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon." Hiccup has those same qualities that he admires in his dad. He may not be as big and tough as Stoick, but he's got his father's bravery, his selflessness, his love and devotion to his people, and he's been raised with Stoick's values as well. Those attributes coupled with Valka's open-mindedness and willingness to challenge the status quo is what makes Hiccup who he is. He's the best of both his parents.
You should watch the series Dragons: Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk and Race to the Edge, they dive deeper into what happened on that 5 year gap between the first film and this. They expand on Hiccup and Astrid's relationship, Hiccup and his dad, as well as flesh out the rest of the gang, and how Berk adapted to living with dragons. You should also watch the Gift of the Night Fury holiday special because the events of that are referenced in the next film.
As of right now I have it on my list but it may take a bit to get to it! Appreciate your recommend! Hopefully if i’m able to upload that reaction, you will still be around and enjoy it! Thanks for being here.

Yep. 8 seasons worth + some other content.
I know this comment is way too late but, please for the love of God yes! Watch the shows!
There's not all that many trilogies where every film is great but HTTYD is one of them.
I really love these movies! They're so good

Can we get a 2017 Power Rangers Movie reaction? please🥺🥺. The movie has a good character development and most of the characters are very relatable.
