With the talent that exists in this group it is understandable they have won multiple national acapella singing championships.. amazing blends and harmonies...fantastic job.... with turn over every year with graduation the consistency is remarkable
Just curious, when you guys are making these, are you using the audio from the video call or whatever or is the audio from a recording made beforehand and then just matched up with the video? It sounds amazing, I'm just curious how that works logistically.
I'm replying not in an official capacity, but as someone connected to the group. This was a song that was recorded for the album they are currently producing. So, they had recorded it in the classroom right before we got the news that school was going to be suspended. The original plan was to record the video around the school. But, after that was no longer possible, the kids recorded themselves in their own homes, and then the video was edited together by a professional... I don't know how that is done... the putting them all on there together. Sort of looks like zoom, but it's not. The video clips were recorded in each home and sent in to the director, and another person edited it all together. They are singing along, and behind them is the track that was recorded at school a couple of weeks earlier (thus they are all in tune and in rhythm with each other) I would *think* if you wanted to do something like this, without a pre-recorded version, you could start with your vocal percussion and bass... then add the soloist... then add on all of the different parts, each of them singing along with whatever had already been recorded, but each recording their own "track" video. That's just my guess. I know that Forte is right now working on I believe a third "quarantine" video, and that one is going to be "live" in the sense that they won't be working with something they recorded in the classroom. Maybe someone else can give you a more "official" explanation, but that is what I am aware of.
The way we recorded this was we had to listen to pre-recorded tracks of our songs. We recorded them in December 2019. We had to lip sync (or sing if we wanted) to the tracks to make sure we were all in time with each other as much as possible, and then we sent them off to be aligned and edited for these final products.
