- The government has recently launched Digi Yatra for paperless entry at airports. Passengers will be allowed to travel paperless through biometric facial recognition technology (FRT). But to avail of this service, you have to download its app. As per the govt claims, once registered on the app, the traveler would not require his personal id or boarding pass to enter the airport. Digi Yatra service is currently available for domestic passengers at Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi airports. But does it really work? Will your data be safe with this technology? So, to find out these answers and verify the government’s claims our team reached Terminal 3, Indira Gandhi International Airport and we found something more to it.

Government should do something about the queue in the Immigration and the behaviour of the staff. These are the big problems. I have missed my two International flights because of them. If you're getting late and request them they will talk to you rudely but they are different with foreigners. Being an Indian and getting racist behaviour from my own people is the worst.
Unless minsters son goes through this trouble, no one is going to change this process.

True. The only solution I found was travel business and get meet and greet. They usually have separate private immigration for premium customers.
Useless app. At most airports, you can enter the airport within 5 minutes or so. The main delay is at baggage check in queues. More than half an hour sometimes. And at security queues. In total you can spend up to one hour at these two choke points - where DigiYatra is USELESS.
Now something has to be done for cabin luggage checkings , I mean why do we need to take every electronic item out and put it in a tray and after the security check again put it back . In today's day and age surely we have powerful enough machines to scan through the luggage.
So it's quite interesting about the electronic components. Most of them have very complex interiors which the x-rays can't distinguish. People can easily hide something in them.
But in Korea and US and at many of the major international airports, they don't need you to do that. They insist that you keep everything in your bags
@@benishaugustine23bro even in Supreme Court they use scanners at entry point where all your electronic devices are scanned without the need of taking those out of your trolley/handbag/purse. It's literally a harassment at Airports to undergo this exhausting exercise every time
Yeah...there are technologies, and most foreign airports alreadys use those. Those machines are called 3D Computer Tomography (3DCT) scanners. I have recently read in the news, that India is going to implement those machines very soon, and probably Bangalore Airport has already aquired (yet to implement) couple of those machines.
Wrong information. For verification the details will be stored in the digi yatra server. Apps do not run only on Clint side machine

my adhar card face looks like i didnot bathe for year....and real face looks like 60 year old mine.....does face recognition identifies me?

If this is only for entering Airport then its of no use. Main delays are in Immigration and Security checks.
It's available for security checks too and it's a breeze, i got my security check done in less than 2 mins while other were waiting for hours
@mthanglangh6476It was pretty useful for me. Saved like 10 minutes (ik not that long but still) and didn't have to fumble with aadhar in one hand and boarding pass in the other.
It's not really skipping the queue once everyone signs up for this, there will be a queue to do this.

The queue will be considerably reduced since you don’t need a cisf officer manually verifying aadhar and your face.
You are right but the processing time is lower, so the queue size would be smaller lessening the hassle.

It's of no use. I have seen a long que on digi yatra gates as well as a way longer que on digi yatra security checks. It's better to print your boarding pass using self check in kiosks

This supports only domestic travel not international. Whats the point if its not implemented for both.
Situation at IGA is shocking, those immigration officers are so so so slow , spend more time in chit chatting among themselves , put stamps on passport so slow as if they are doing a favour , they totally ignore 100s of people in the lines. You tell them to please hurry up, they get upset and show their rudeness, try to complaint to the supervisor and he says “sir these immigration officers” don’t listen to bosses. Remove these lousy people, empty some smart, active , young, energetic officers . This mess at the capital airport should end. It’s not the security check so much but immigration checks. These slow lousy men put an embarrassing picture of “MODIS INDIA”.

Face scanner is already operational in the Top airports in the USA and china.

For entering the airport this is there. Not very useful. Dubai has this for immigration. This is where you really save time.

I am assuming this service is only for Indian citizens? International travelers won't have Indian telephone number. They won't be able to use the app.

No. You need Aadhar card or any Indian Govt issued ID card
