      yo you responded!!!🤣 thank you‼️ i couldn’t have done it without these videos or this channel. i bought that 200-400 training plan back in august and used some other vids (like the hip flexor band workouts and those leg switching box jump thingys😂) to improve. this was seriously clutch. i’m from auburn high school in alabama and am hoping to run 10.4, 20.8 and 47 this outdoor season! keep it up man, it really does help❤️

      Great work on that 200m Zach! If I recall correctly, Patrick Johnson never even played sports until 25, and he set the Australian 100m record eventually. If you keep at it and stay healthy, you’ll see some great improvement. Thanks a lot for the feedback, and I look forward to hearing how things progress with your training.

    You give me hope to run sub 7 and sub 23 again. Last time I did it was in college several years ago. Since then I've gotten stronger, and I've been around the 23 low and 7.0~ range, but haven't been able to be as fast as I was back then. But listening to you keeps me motivated that things can happen if I keep working hard at it.

    Well, Su Bingtian at 31 ran a PB in the semi final of the olympics at 9.83. Go faster still Cody. My PB for the 100 is 10.97 If i dont run my natural way which is to bob my head in sync with my right leg as it comes up, i lose power, agility, balance & of course speed. It helps my knees come up high, aids it in driving my feet back down aggressively with max force... Without it i tend to lose some balance & hammering down feels slightly awkward

    Cody, I like the way the Kawasaki is accelerating hard in the background while you do likewise from the blocks. Congrats on the PB. You ran a great bend and unwound on the straight. How about a video on arm action? Back in the day Scottish professional sprinters used speed balls and heavy punch bags to get fast arm speed, on the basis that fast arms get the cns firing. Check out 1980 Olympic champion Alan Wells.

    • @ATHLETE.X
      @ATHLETE.X  2 роки тому

      Thanks Liam, yeah I thought it was pretty cool that the bike accelerated at the same time as me. I definitely feel like theres a lot of room for me to improve in the back half of the race. I've seen some videos of Alan hitting the speed bag, and I've been neglecting my upper body for a while in training. I'll do some brainstorming on how I can work on better arm action to stay efficient.

    Congrats on the new PB man, I have a meet coming up on Sunday...any tips when am heading into it?

    • @ATHLETE.X
      @ATHLETE.X  2 роки тому

      Thanks Tanner! My approach is just to have one or two things I'm focusing on in my warm ups (snap the arms out of the blocks, find the finish line with my eyes, etc.) and then when it comes time to race I try not to think too much and just go. The shorter the race, the less you can think and still run OK, so before the 60m you want to just feel like an animal ready to be let out of a cage, whereas in the 200m you can be more tactical and focus on your race plan. Overall don't overthink it or put too much emphasis on any one competition. Its another opportunity to practice your skills and see where you can improve when the stress is higher, so try to embrace the experience and have fun, and just have one or two things you want to focus on.

    Great effort and a great run! Wonder how long did you let loose a bit or “ float“ after the driving phase? What was “% of effort" throughout the race? Thanks.

    • @ATHLETE.X
      @ATHLETE.X  2 роки тому +4

      Thank you Ernie 💪🏽 From my memory I floated from about 50 to 90 meters, but it’s hard to say exactly. My intention went from “go hard enough to pass people” to “go hard enough to stay with everybody”, then as the end of the turn was clearly in view I tried to go back to higher effort with the intent of passing/staying ahead of everybody. Around 150m is when I started thinking about “foot down foot down” rather than focusing on feeling tired.

    Training the day after a competition, interesting. Could you share the rational for this? Most everyone I know takes a rest day after any competition

    • @ATHLETE.X
      @ATHLETE.X  2 роки тому +2

      Its not necessarily something I would advise people to do, but I am fairly tuned in to how I feel and where my body is at, so if I run at a meet where I don't PR and my body is in good shape the next day, I think it can be safe to train. I have friends who have run much faster than me who would sometimes train the day after a meet, but only if the meet was relatively short (like running 2x60m) or if they didn't run very fast. On the flip side if they set a new personal best, they'd typically rest since the stress of that is higher than a non-PB meet day. In general, whether a competition or not, I just try to train when my body is in a good state and not overly fatigued, and then I'll take days off when I feel the quality of workout won't be high or I'll pay a high cost in fatigue as a result of doing a workout. As with many things, training the day after a meet is sort of an experiment for me.
