Welcome to the It's Me Club how It's Me are ya?
not much, sadly
I'm not me, woo
ij
hello
I'm so me that you could call me soMEone.
I like this combination of tropes. Fundamentally it's just a spot-the-difference puzzle, but putting you in a physical location rather than having you pick out differences from a 2D image makes it a little more engaging to me.
Also: 3D.
they should use this as their official game description
This and the Manly actually paid attention instead of having ADHD. I swear I think there's just a tad bit too many video of this game where the player didn't paid attention while rambling too much.
It's the same thing for me
@@defaulted9485Dude it's kinda rude to make it seem that you are complaining that people have ADHD. Or use ADHD as a quirky term instead of a proper diagnosis.
It's like saying "Oh i'm so OCD" when you don't have it but are just a neat person.
Just saying
I like how the setting doesn't play the anomalies up as some creepy unusual thing. It's more like this is the standard of what happens when you take this route, they even have signs posted about it. Almost like people have gotten used to it. Yeah you get stuck wandering between bizarro dimensions for a couple of minutes but you still prefer to take this way home because it saves like half an hour of commute time.
Yeah that is nice.
"honey it's me, just calling to say that I'll be a little late today, the tunnel curse is acting up again"
"Ugh, I got some red stain on my shirt the other day from the water curse and it just won't go away"
In the first loop, the sign wasnt there. The sign itself is an anomaly
The other ways probably have worse curses then lol
I actually gasped when he turned around and the men were right there. Super effective jumpscare without relying on any annoying jumpscare tropes.
Bro annoyed that they get him all the time
how convenient, i am trapped in an endless tunnel right now! hopefully this helps me escape
Yes, great information on how to calmly ignore existential horrors as they attempt to steadily consume your sanity
Dont you just hate it when that happens?
that's just my bathroom sorry
@@ManlyBadassHero i'm gonna sneak in 😜

The first time you left the stairs, it said "exit 0", indicating an anomaly. I wonder if that meant you exited into an anomaly world, and got lost or something and couldn't go back to your old world. What would an anomaly world even look like?
nerd
Everything looks off. What you see usually is subtly different.
Like, how food price would become pricier.
@@InnocentC0oh shit, are we already living in an anomaly?
@@TK-7193Is California this world's anomaly?
@@King-or6ll They should have another anomaly exit but with an extra sign saying "Welcome to California" and make it the worst ending.
For those who haven't visited Japan yet, the chirping noises at 14:37 are coming from speakers that are present at crosswalks and street intersections. The chirping help visually impaired people (or people glued to their phones) know that it's time to cross when safe.
USA has this too…not unique to Japan…
@@1who4me I never said it was. Most places have their own unique tune or chirp. I guess where I live, we don't have the budget for the speakers. Or people would vandalize them. Apparently the US has been phasing them out since 2009, stating that traffic noise drowns out the tunes anyway.
!! Australia also has one similar. Where when not crossing, it is a slower clicking, and when crossing/green lights, it's a much faster clicking along with vibrations on the arrow thing for those that are hearing-impared.
wait since the character is visually impaired this might be a test for them to improve their alertness/vision
the chirping we hear at the end is them walking out into the real world crossing a street
really? never heard of it before ngl@@1who4me
was waiting for one of the guys to just break into a sprint and start chasing manly. the fast one kinda does that but it looks to silly to be scary
The chameleon chases the player if you get too close to it. Manly didn’t get chased because he turned back too soon.
@@user-ms8kw4xn1pdoes it attack you?
Who's Chameleon?
@@flyingstonemon3564 it’s one of the anomalies that is a guy who blends in with the walls , he chases you if you get too close.
@@dandymaiden Thanks Dandy
I like how "Spot the Difference" has become a horror game concept.
I like this kind of subtle horror, where it's less about loud sounds and things jumping out at you and more about doubting your own eyes, what you _thought_ you saw. The ones that make you doubt reality itself are the best ones imo. I also hate the "liminal spaces," but only b/c they remind me too much of those dreams you have where you're stuck somewhere and can't leave...but that _is_ what makes them so scary.
pretty sure this counts as psychological horror, the way it fucks with you, but it could be just a *little* too silly?? idk how to describe it
Personally liminal spaces feel comfy for me, maybe there's something wrong with me but yeah, if you remove all the monsters and stuff from the backrooms, it feels like most of the levels would be really fun to traverse.
@@nikothewolf344 They're sort of disorienting tho E.g., Dreamcore And even this one really at least to me
@@casa92100 I get that but if your goal is just to explore the backrooms with no motive or reason, just taking in the views and having fun with all the different stuff, like going swimming in the poolrooms, then you don't really need to be "oriented"
The anomalies were the friends we made along the way
If they are friends with me definitely anomalies
Sounds like an anime theme song
With friends like these, who needs anomalies?
Here's a list of the anomalies:
The man who passes you by:
- He is constantly looking at you (his head will only turn as much as physically possible, so no 360° neck snap here)
- Part of his head is transparent / missing texture
- He is larger than normal
- He walks much faster, and is coming after you- if he catches you, you start over
- He is replaced by two identical men in suits- if you come close enough that they look up at you, they've caught you and you will start over as soon as you turn around
- He is smiling
Posters:
- The second poster has a scribbled on face
- All posters are the fifth poster
- The posters are slowly growing
- The sixth poster changes completely into a close-up of a creepy face
- The security camera poster will follow you (sliding along the wall)
- The security camera poster's eyes are looking around
- There are way too many smoking posters
Doors:
- There is someone/something banging on the first door
- The second door is ajar, and somebody is peeking out at you
- The third door opens
- The third door's doorknob is in the center
- The first door disappears
Wall/Floor/Ceiling:
- There is a face on the ceiling right after the exit 8 sign
- There is an entity hiding on the wall at the end of the room, trying to blend in- if you get too close, it will chase you, and you will start over if it catches you
- the pattern of the yellow tiles is unusual near the middle of the room
- the texture of the yellow tiles is different near the start of the room
- the end of the room is replaced by fake exit stairs that will make you start over if you climb them
- the ceiling lights are crooked
- the ceiling lights are flickering
- the ceiling lights shut off
- the first vent is oozing some black substance
- the back of the exit 8 sign says "turn back"
Extra?
- the sound of rushing water, then a river of red liquid (probably blood) comes rushing in- it will start you over if you get caught in it
I think that's all of them, but I'm probably missing a few
You missed the one where the first door is being knocked on from the inside.
Also I think the text on the back of the exit 8 sign changes now?
You missed the oozing vent and the sign saying 'turn back'
Upside down Exit 8/Concourse sign you missed
There was one where the guy had a phone in his hand
I laughed so hard at you bullshitting the first like 3 hallways, but after that your perception was off the charts! Amazing!
I was flabbergasted at how the game threw a missing door at him but he only focused on the guy-
@@farixguardianwhen is that
@@user-vo6ed1lz3g At 2:11xD . Just looking back I can't believe I also didn't noticed before he mentions at the end which one he missed by just "speedrunning" lmao .
The amount of perfectly timed moments in this game is incredible lol
This one’s my personal favorite
12:00 - 12:36 The instant amount of panic when the water started rushing lol
That timing, Mr. Manly.
Manlybadasshero: Don't ignore me.
NPC: [Checks phone at that moment]
how you stay calm even with the sudden jumpscare is always cool
What time stamp is the jumpscare?
@@rollercoaster24 The jumpscare that got me was at 8:23
He's a real manly man is why
What an interesting concept. I like that the walking man also serves as your time limit.
ohhh i didnt notice that. thats cool
Wait the walking man is the time limit?? How? I didn't notice that.
@@alexandrecattleya3633probably because you only have a certain amount of time before he rounds the corner, out of view to check for anomalies
I'm not sure it's a time limit. I saw other youtubers especially waiting for the man to finish his round to make sure his "whole round" was still normal and not having weird stuff happening.
there is no time limit
4:24 For the ones who missed it, the anomaly was the blue poster's man with creepy eyes
Yep, the character turned into Chara!
This is one of Manly's best videos. Not necessarily in terms of game content (which was just fine - best game still goes to Cat in the Box or one of the Purgatories), but in terms of his own personal execution - gameplay, content, editing - all best-in-class.
For all we know, this took him hours to do. Editing was perfect. The completionism was welcome. Nothing overstayed its welcome. His reactions were great - funny, charming. The things he "fell for" (like the exit 0 stairs, the men in black) were extremely understandable and not frustrating.
It also plays to a personal strength of his -- attention to detail. Manly is fairly good at most game genres, but when it comes to attention to detail or noticing small things in games, he's actually like some top1% elite badass. The Larry game and the various horror games where you need to shift between cameras to see changes are proof of that.
Overall this was an extremely well-executed playthrough that really shows why Manly dominates and elevates the genre.
Manly is the only horror youtuber I watch. He's never unnecessarily loud, every scare (WHEN he gets scared) is justified, his commentary is very entertaining and I love his little catchphrases. I've been watching for ~4 years now and I've never been disappointed haha
I LOVED the Purgatory playthroughs.
Many thanks for the recommendation! I've never heard of those two games nor seen anyone played it. Will be watching that for sure, they're RPG Horror games like Corpse Party right?
@@feliksdzerzhinskij800 Cat in the Box I personally don't remember that much about, but Purgatory was more similar to Witch's House with it's many traps and unique deaths. It's a very fun playthrough, definitely recommend! Also, as a personal recommendation, if you haven't watched it yet, Yuppie Psycho was also a great game he played!
@@githealpaca5972 Ah I see, currently watching the Cat in the Box playthrough and loving it so far, especially the joke with the mc being streamer. I'll check out Yuppie Psycho later too!
My personal belief is that the man you always see walking towards you isn’t some apparition but just an actually guy who thinks he is walking through a really long hallway and just keeps going the same direction
If you follow the guy he will eventually stop and will look at his cellphone forever
Really simulates the feeling of how long it takes to leave the office.
This is actually awesome because I first heard about the game yesterday, and I looked for your play through of it and was kinda bummed that I didn't see it. My gut told me to wait and look at that! The very next day the legend himself comes through!!! You're the best Manly!
Usually how it works
There's so many "keep right" or "keep left" signs in stations and stuff but it feels like people rarely actually follow those. It's always just a free for all, with people moving in both directions in both lanes
bigger cities actually do follow these, generally unspoken, rules. Like Singapore, for example, you could see people doing that usually during rush hour. Saves everybody's time.
I wish Osakans did the same tbh, but it's just utter chaos here @@arighostea
POV: You're late for observation duty, but your stuck in an anomalous passageway
This is a nice take on the observation duty style games. Hope someone expands on this! The 0 stairs are evil. The 8 stairs are good! Nice of you to show all the anomalies, sir.
The first walk through is completely normal, you study the hall then see anomalies on the other pass throughs
A commuter smiling while walking by you? Anomaly. Run back the way you came.
What looks like a person shape in the tiled wall behind the man actually steps out of the wall and books it after you like speed running several turns its pretty damn creepy!
If you got close to that man in the wall he would run after you
“I don’t know, I can feel the anomaly..” *cue giant wave*
I really like this take on the Observation Duty style gameplay and hope that more devs take this route. This game design feels way less punishing than the other observation duty games that basically kick you back to the title screen. In addition, Exit 8 limits it to a single thing different where as the other OD games can stack anomalies on top of anomalies. I also suspect that the dev built it so that even if you are missing the very subtle anomalies, you can still beat it because the very obvious ones will stack on top. I haven't seen it confirmed either, but I think the dev also left it open so that if you discover you failed and reset, you can go back and try and figure out what you missed. It's all these tiny things that set it up so that its quite fun.
I'm pretty sure you can't go back and check
That not the backrooms, that the roombacks 😂
The siderooms

The lowerrooms.
This was cool! I liked the more subtle ones, it forced you to pay close attention. That said, the twins definitely made me jump.
17:48 "BABIES." -ManlyBadassHero, 2023
idk why but this game creeped me out more than a lot of other horror games ambience is really well done
From a small red dot in one of the ceiling cameras, to the walking dude's hairline, to the back of the ceiling sign. They can be subtle.
Then there's the fake exit and the red flood.
Damn I saw this game on steam like 3 days ago and thought: "this would be a great game for Manly to play" and look, here he is
"We keep encountering the same man. Clearly he's an anomaly." Literally the definition of not an anomaly 😄
He missed the wall monster chasing him, wanted to see him react to it.. :(
Could’ve been a little longer, but this was an interesting idea.
Well I mean that’s the point, It’s only long unless you miss stuff a lot
I was expecting there to be an anomaly where there was a whole crowd of that one person with the briefcase walking by.
Another Anomalies game? I wouldn't mind seeing Manly cover the I'm On Observation Duty games one day. I always enjoy watching those, trying to find Anomalies too.
Edit: I know so far he's done videos for 1 and 4, but would love to see all the levels and games in a complete series.
I like how you’re playing this game seriously. Increases the tension as you get closer and I’m also playing “spot the anomaly” along with you - and not doing as good a job. :D
_Anomalies in an almost liminal space_
I really liked this.
Just that one person walking but otherwise, just subway tiles and posters. There shouldn't have been any "anomaly" in those halls, yet...
Creepiest ones in order for me - the guy turning and looking at you. Second, door opening. Third - the black suited duo. Runner up was the goth poster.
You spot everything pretty quickly MBH - great observational skills and 'feel' for the unusual.
I like the idea of some interdimensional horrors(?) just looking like Japanese salarymen.
Thank you so much for this, crummiest, heartbreaking type of day ever and you managed to make me smile.
Really... Thank you Hero
Hope your days are getting better
Wishing you the best.
Hope you’re doing well!
Anomalies:
1:43 - Oozing first vent
1:54 -
2:07 - Missing first door
2:35 - No smoking signs everywhere
2:45 - Guy too big
4:20 - 2nd poster had large eyes
4:53 - Face smudge on ceiling
5:31 - Guy walking fast
6:39 - Handle in middle of last door
7:30 - Invisible man in back of wall
8:20 - G-men
8:41 - Guy with half-missing face
9:07 - Moving security poster eyes
9:31 -
9:52 - Stairs too early
10:27 - Repeat posters
10:40 -
11:11 - Posters getting larger over time
11:56 - Red flood water
12:27 - Lights go out
13:05 - Face smudge on ceiling (again)
13:24 - Guy stares at you
15:11 - Guy smiling
15:28 - Last door opens
16:08 - Skewed lights
16:20 - Extra yellow tiles on floor
16:29 - Lights flickering
16:37 - First door banging
17:18 - Middle door someone peeking out
17:39 - Faces in tiles
17:53 - Security camera poster follows you
18:23 - Sixth poster is skull face
18:45 - Yellow exit sign upside down
The only two other ones I know about are these, which you have to go to the end of the hallway and look back on (which Manly didn't do):
- Security camera red/on when you turn around
- Words on back of yellow exit sign say "Turn Back"
4:53 was the ceiling face
@@LuciferSweetDream good call
Manly, you have blown my mind with your power of observation and how quickly you beat the game. I’m always in love with your calm confidence in navigating the space and can only hope if I ever end up in such a situation I’ll either a) have someone like you with me or b) channel your energy. You’re truly badass. XD
Perhaps a game like this could task the player with taking photographs of the anomalies.
This, at least, could ensure the player doesn't _accidentally_ bypass any of them.
This kind of simulates my experiences while traveling in Japan and trying to navigate for different exits. Some of the exit passages for subway or train stations are mazelike with branching paths and weird stairways.
The amount of luck you got was insane. Usually runs don't go that well
The real horror is the thought of cleaning all that tile-and-grout surfacing. Who keeps building stuff with these endless little white tiles that show everything with so much filth-retaining grout between them? Why? WHY???
Sincerely,
A Former Victim of Custodial Duties Horror IRL
P.S. That rotten milk carton...
That's why they have those anomalous floodings every few minutes - everyone assumed it was water, but it was really bleach. Cursed cleaning supply floods were considered essential anomalies during pandemic lockdowns for a reason: the grout! 😋
😂@@Cog_Nomen
The creepy scary amps up if you play like you have no idea what's going on and stay a bit longer. MBA has played too many games where the creeping bad kills you so he NOPES right the hell out of there. But letting the spook build, or waiting till you see the tide of red before running back ward cause you don't want to lose sight of it makes it better. Ironically it's not running as soon as you spot every discrepancy that makes it creepier
5:25 that ceiling face is probably one of the more annoying ones, it seems really subtle
So this is like I'm On Observation Duty but more on the Field this time. Its actually pretty cool
I really liked this one. very simple but very effective. massive room for updates too. I had a job once which required crazy attention to detail like this (way more than a regular job) so in a way this counts as workplace horror to me LOL. Thanks for highlighting it, manly
What's more challenging was spotting all anomalies....I missed smiling Salaryman.
i like that its implied that this is just something normal that people are accustomed to, but there's also the yellow line on the ground which iirc is a guide for blind people who would either be stuck forever or just aren't affected by the exit's anomalous nature
Well it says you should turn around if you * see *an anomaly so for blind people thats just a really long hallway
I was hoping you would play this! I’d seen some clips from other creators but your content always hits just right.
I was wondering why people from Japan have been tweeting drawings of a empty train station hallway with weird stuff in it, guess it’s gotten popular
Really enjoyed this gameplay Manly. I hope you try others like it.
Aww shucks do i hate it when anomalies try to steal my lungs and or kidneys
I've been waiting for you to do this. Thank you!
To note: Some of the anomalies are extremely subtle, and requires you to look at everything.
You don't say?
Captain obvious is here
I loved this game, I was very excited for you to cover it. I'd love to see more anomalies added in the future
This plays on your paranoia pretty good
Wonder if we might get a playthrough of Voices of the Void someday
This game gives out such an SCP vibes, I loved it. A horror but not gore/jumpscared but more subtle.
It was worth waiting for you to play this title. Thank you Manly!
NPC vacantly looking at his phone while walking. Just like most people in real life!
Always is a pleasure watching your videos, keep going!
The stairs thing, the beginning said to take the exit #8. So the loss before was the wrong exit the later win was the correct exit.
i could literally listen to your voice for hours, its so nice sounding
Damn it's always good to come back to manly from time to time. Love the vid man
this game's weird because it tells you you found all anomalies but there were absolutely ones you didn't get that i did in my playthrough, and some you got that i never saw after getting the "completed" sign (the shining reference flood namely). one had some hair coming outta the vent, another one had the "concourse" backside of the sign say Turn Back Turn Back Turn Back, the eyes sign slid along to match your movement... i don't know why the game straight up lies to you about finding all the content. its a minor gripe that only comes up in situations like this though
That sign was also anomalous (Wasn't always there) and thus inaccurate
remember, he edits the vids down. like he was saying in his final thoughts, he might have scene, then cut out some of them accidently.
The past couple of days I’ll have this & other Exit 8 gameplay playing while I fall asleep.
Those footsteps are ASMR to the max ^~^
Love it. Really feels like that one side passage in a Japanese station.
The concept here is amazing and the game is solid. I would have liked to see more dangerous anomalies that have more risk involved with missing them.
!! Dude you should totally play Killer Frequency someday - it's RIGHT UP your alley! It's like a slasher movie and you're a radio host trying to unravel the mystery!
Just got done with playing it AND IT WAS ✨ EXCELLENT ✨
was waiting for you to upload this! heard this first on some japanese youtubers a couple of days ago
Stop it , WHY AM I ADDICTED TO YOUR CHANNEL 😭
Awwww yissssss I was waiting for this one!!! 👏
I imagine the wrong stairs either take you to the wrong area in the real world, kill you, or bring you into an anomalous version of the outside world with a bunch of similar anomalies
Fire video as always
This was overall a nice polite game that didn't make me jump too badly. I appreciated that.
I just wishlisted this game yesterday, nice timing
This reminds me a lot of London Underground when navigating the Tube, there’s no way of knowing where you are because everything looks the same.
Ohhhh I just saw a video of this, with demo-like gameplay being shown! Now manly is playing it 🤩
as someone who was in japan recently, I love how much I relate to how weird it can be down in the subway tunnels of certain big cities in japan. Tokyo had just massive lengths of underground metro subway tunnels that felt like this game, where you could just keep going and you'd enter some kind of sector of the backrooms. eerie as hell when I was getting lost lmaoB
I've noticed this game on sale while at work, and I was wondering for couple of days when you'll play it, thank you!
I can’t believe g-man would do this
B-battle cats
The transparent man is actually scary if you get close to it, and maybe the man when he goes sonic mode
I use exit 8 of a similar looking subway to commute to work, so there is a strange sense of immersion.
I wonder if the tile man is on a timer too because he got pretty close to it, seen it chase people further away

I've betrayed the Manly church. I watched someone else play this game yesterday....
Still going to watch Manly play it though.
This is pretty interesting how it seems to randomly choose several events within the map, I'm curious how it works as it seems to be a very small loading zone.
that was fantastic!
As someone currently in japan who got trapped looking for a way out of the subway station for like 10 minutes, i feel seen
This one was a great twist on the OD games, very subtle and simple even with the jumpscares, no tryhard scary stuff or sudden startling noises, just the creep factor left for you to observe as the enviorment introduces irregularities.
