- Can I name all 54 countries in Africa? After I released "Can I name all 197 countries in the world" I've decided to learn the countries 1 continent at a time! I've now learnt Asia, Europe, South America & Now America. So today I'm going to try and learn all 49 countries in Africa... hopefully. The iconic cartoon series Arthur did a song called In My Africa back in 2011, that's an easy way to remember the countries (though they don't mention South Sudan at the time since it wasn't independent yet as the episode was released months before it happened; they mentioned Western Sahara instead for the 54th)

Nah just actually learn it. I find people who learn things from songs pathetic and can't be bothered to put effort in. I would prefer to know per say then name of a country of the top of my head rather than after singing a song for 10 minutes, while looking like a complete moron

Uganda,who can forget Uganda. Like Rwanda its neighbor, Uganda is near water body of lake Victoria. Unlike Rwanda, it has a flag unlike any other. 🇺🇬
They don't speak French in Sierra Leone...they speak English
And Sierra Leone was originally named by the Portuguese. They named it Serra Lyoa, which means Lion Mountains (referring to the mountains around Freetown). As English sailors arrived, they called the place "Sierra Leoa", a derivative of the Portuguese name. Then when it became a Crown Colony, the last name was a misspelled version of the Spanish name, Sierra Leona, modified to Sierra Leone, still meaning Lion Mountains. The current name was also influenced by Italians, Leone is the Italian word for lion

Jack I have a tip for you. If you write “Ivory Coast” in place of “Cote d’Ivoire” it’ll accept it.
I find the english translation is much easier to remember than the french one.

Jack for Côte d’Ivoire you can just write “Ivory Coast” as that’s it’s name in English!
also for republic of the congo you can just write rep congo
Côte d'Ivoire is actually the official name of the country in every language, but it is frequently translated in informal contexts to Ivory Coast or whatever the corresponding literal translation is in other languages.

Thanks for the video & name of the game. After hours of contemplating on African countries & flags, I could finally test myself and I didn't do that great still it is okay. I dont think anyone can memorise African flags except a pre fed computer (just my opinion). I have memorized many Asians flags but Africa is not at all do-able. I am almost done giving more time to Africa. Thanks again for the game 🎉🎉🎉

Hey Jack, "repcongo" is an acceptable abbreviation of Republic of the Congo, and "Ivory Coast" is the English spelling of Côte d'Ivoire. Hope that helps! Great job so far😁

This is a fun series.
I cant belive Jack is going through the same journey I went through last year.
For me the most fun part of these videos is watching Jack learn by making mistakes. I wish Jack had kept more failed runs in the video, even if it makes it longer. The ending didn't feel as rewarding imo because we didn't see Jack struggle as much as with the others.

When you eventually get to the world one, a tip I’ve got is, use acronyms, no spaces, no ANDs or THEs, and continent wise I usually go
N. America -> S. America -> Europe -> Asia -> Oceania -> Africa, in Europe do all the micro-states first, Africa the islands, and because the sporcle world map is a bit flawed, remember there are 10 “mainland” North American countries and 13 islander ones
JetPunk has many more shortcuts and abbreviations, along with 5 more minutes on the clock to do the thing, so imo it’s better for doing the whole world
