Understand that Tatsuo Shimabuku ADOPTED the Vertical Fist (Tate Zuki). Master Kyan was the originator of this technique. Also understand that Master Shimabuku created Isshin Ryu as combination of Goju-Ryu and Shorin-Ryu. There’s only one kata that originated from Isshin Ryu. The history of the vertical fist passes even Shimabuku into Kungfu and Shuri-te style. Shimabuku was known for putting his passion and toughness into his art. Not necessarily coming up with different techniques hints the term “Isshin-Ryu” or “One Heart Method/Way”. 🙏🏻
