I don’t think Fleischer Studios gets enough credit for their contributions to the history of animation
Like put the speed to 2x and it’s scary how realistic Koko moves

Mr. Atari 2600 I’m honestly wondering it was the beginnings of their rotoscope technology

It was most likely the famous rotoscoping technique that Fleisher himself patented.

It was a rotoscope of Dave Fleischer, I believe.

The special effects the Fleischers used to show live action people interacting with cartoon characters is very impressive, especially considering the fact that cartoons were still in their 'infant' stage around this time.
I don't actually mean that they were babyish, I'm just taking the Ages of Animation - Silent Age, Golden Age, Dark Age, etc - and making the 'age' part more literal.
In my perspective: cartoons reached their 'kid' stage sometime during the 1920s, their 'teen' stage during the early 1930s, their 'grown-up' stage during the late 1930s, their 'senior' stage during the 1950s, and then were 'reincarnated' during the 1980s.

Yeah they did rotoscope and did a lot for the animation medium but are we not gonna talk about the fact that Koko is roasting tf out of the animator like he couldn’t easily crumple Koko up or something

Haha! So well done! 👏👏👏 That first dog is so cute! 🤗 I tried rotoscoping my own animation of Koko, but it's not turning out as good as I wanted.

Yup - animation is way harder than it looks!! Keep trying - you'll get it right eventually!

Geez, Max was a lazy animator! He couldn't even be bothered to draw all of Koko himself, so he forced him to do it!
    Who's the real clown, Max?

Max's brother, Dave Fleischer, was the clown! He worked as a clown at the Coney Island Steeplechase Amusement Park - and owned his own clown suit. Here's the story about it, on the FleischerStudios.com website: www.fleischerstudios.com/koko.html
