Very nice, I figured there would be substantially more work for the Floyd but I didn’t think it would be this much. It’s really coming along beautifully Pat, as always thanks for sharing .
Wheewww.. had me there.. if you don't have a battery compartment proper and fit it in the cavity for the trem or control..just make sure to get a battery keeper.. low cost. Keeps it in place.. cheers..
routing done to perfection. cannot have enough thought and planning for this kind of adventure. however, we hang our heads in mourning at the loss of the template. farewell our little 3d friend.
Posts always sit a 1/2 inch forward of the scale and as long as you remember that part you can stick a floyd on any scale you like, of course I routed my first floyd in the wrong place lol. Looks like the gotoh trem too? Love the gotoh. Nut comes with a bunch of shims too which is handy but I always either rout a ledge or use an offcut from the board to make a ledge. I haven't seen all this series so not sure where you're at and what you've done. With that in mind did you rout a channel in the side for the pickup wiring? Rear recess on my jackson is 14mm so I stick with that and it works great. 5mm where the posts sit and 14mm for the rest. Gives me all the travel I could ever want. I bought some 2 or 3mm sticky back neoprene too to stick in the bottom. Not my bottom, the bottom of the recess lol. Anyway all looking good buddy.
Nice work Patrick, however, I do get the feeling that you have to have a maths degree to be a guitar builder. Too hard for me, but keep at it. Most enjoyable video. if you can pull this off, i,ll send you your own maths diploma. Well done. 👍🎸🎸🎸
That was a really great video for anyone fitting a Floyd rose. I have 3D printed some templates myself but decided to use them to create wooden templates instead
Is that the printable (PDF) Floyd template from Electric Herold? I'm about to make MDF templates from that to do the same job. I was hoping the EH PDF was pretty close at least. It seems to be about the same as my RRV, minus the string locks being much longer, so, more room needed for the stringlock part of the recess. (edit: the back cover is also wider on the EH pdf than my Jackson)
That's a much cheaper way to gets templates. And yeah if you nick one you can just print another. My set came with directions that locate the back template by drilling 7/16" hole through one of the corners. It works out well. I was going to say don't do back cover because I think the trem guts look cool but with the battery in there I guess you need to cover it. Could use a battery clip in the route and still leave it open.
Hahaha! When you were placing the rear template I was literally yelling "IT'S BACKWARDS! IT'S BACKWARDS!" 🤣😂🤣
Lol, I think I heard you!!

It was a lot of work, hope it's worth it!!
Nicely done. You have done a great work 👍👍
Thank you :)

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Really tricky with the floyd. Cannot fail half a mill, great experiment with the template, works great in fact. Well thought, well done!

Trust me, my degree isn't maths lol.

Scary, but nicely done.

Is that nut not designed to be used with a zero fret?
I think it is supposed to be used with a nut. It is just the locking mechanism. I mentioned it earlier, but he said it was all he needed.
They can be but also work as a standard nut as well, I just need to make sure it is at the right hight.
