Seotaiji and the boys were basically K-pop before anyone knew what K-pop was. Seotaiji was actually a kind of revolutionary in Korean music and it was reflected in his lyrics, clothes he wore and dancing on stage. When he started in the 90s, most singers appealed to an older audience and he was the first to write texts that spoke to the younger generation. His texts also criticized various issues in Korea and at that time there was censorship in Korea on texts written by artists. One of his songs that was banned because of its text, he decided to record in one of his albums only in instrumental form and this led to a huge protest in which thousands of young people demonstrated, which eventually led to the repeal of the law in 1995 (if I remember correctly). In this show, the king invited BTS to perform with him and it seemed like he was crowning his successors. A legend. Thank you for this reaction. 💜💜💜
Sao is probably the father of KPOP and yes BTS calls him Abeoji (father) mind you the man is now 50 years old, he started his career when half of BTS is not yet born. In this concert, the legend meets the future legends, He must be proud of where BTS is right now.

The three members of the boy band, Seo Taiji, Yang Hyun-suk and Lee Juno, experimented with many different genres of popular Western music. Seo Taiji and Boys was highly successful and is credited with changing the South Korean music industry by pioneering the use of rap in Korean popular music and utilizing social critique, despite pressure from ethics and censorship committees. Yang Hyun-suk, after the group disbanded, he founded and became the Executive producer & Chairman of YG Entertainment, one of the biggest record companies in South Korea.
