Scandinavian culture is definitely all about cosiness because for half the year it is cold and dark, so they have found ways to make the best of it. Take Danish hygge or Swedish fika, it's all about intentionality, mindfulness, and appreciating the little moments. And this translates into their design. Even the cities here like Copenhagen and Stockholm have a distinctly cosy feel to them. I've lived in Denmark before and now live in Sweden and I would not want to live anywhere else in the world (I have yet to live in Norway but I will do that at some point).
Thank you for these. We have the same style at home and same principles. I just kept nodding throughout the video. I ask myself “What’s my style?” I think it’s eclectic, a mix of what I love from different trends. It’s of mid-century, traditional, boho, cottage, Japandi, etc. I mixed minimalism with maximalism, modern with vintage, muted tones with pops of color. Once I stopped being strict and enjoyed the trends, my rooms stopped feeling pretentiously “themed”, and began being deeply “organic”. I just wish Japan has more vintage pieces like in the West. It’s hard to find good stuff here.
You're very right about the overhead light! I dislike turning the bright lights on ESPECIALLY in the morning or night. I always have my cozy rock salt lamps on and my hanging lights. Not long ago I got these Himalayan rock salt tea light holders which really fill in what you said about scattering ambiance 😄
Aww, I used to have some rock salt lamps before I moved to Cali but the bulb burnt out in one and I remember it was such a weird light bulb that I just never got it replaced hahaha. They do give off a very soft warm cozy light.
I generally agree with all the things you ve said. However, one can create a cozy home by using a few cool toned colours and it s all about the balance. And the result can be much more interesting by the contrast of cool tones and warm tones. Like the contrast of warm light in the "blue" hour or a cloudy scenery in nature . It can be cozy if you use the right elements. The light of course and the unique pieces are super important, like you mentioned.
I think my biggest struggle is storage space, when objects don't have a home to hide in, they give a more cluttered impression and remove the cosiness..
I completely agree about adding vintage pieces. So many decades of style to choose from and ways to incorporate. And LIGHTING yes! The lighting dept at IKEA is a great space to get an idea of different tones and intensities. ❤
Good tips, agree with all. I also feel that having a variety of furniture makes a room cozy, like an oak hutch, and a white coffee table, it adds interest to the room, instead of everything matching in color.
This was great, I really like the fragrance cabinet and the shelf under the tv. The atmosphere thing is so true. Can't wait to have my own place and have full control on how to furnish it haha
This was really cool (or should I say warm lol) video. I have been loving your content across your various platforms and can tell you put effort and quality into your work! I just moved into my first NYC apartment in June and let's just say it has been a process to decorate haha. I want to snap my fingers and it be super cute and finished, but curating a beautiful space (and on a budget) takes time.
Thank you for sharing ❤ I love your videos and your perspective on life and decorating your home it’s really inspiring. I totally get the overhead light it’s so annoying I hate it 😅. Anyways one can tell that you’re a precious soul and thank you for sharing a bit of yourself through here 🎃 👻 it’s basically fall now I’m so happy 😁
For unique lights or lights in general if you don't want multiple apps for different lightbulbs, because phillips ones are quite expensive especially in that mass, get yourself smart socket. Works with the Apple HomeKit or Google, Alexa... I like to use them for anything rlly like your coffee machine for example.
Your place is an absolute dream, wow! I just moved to Switzerland and I have been collecting vintage pieces over the years from different places. Also one thing that I recommend when it comes to hanging pictures is framing vintage post cards or posters. I got one poster off Facebook marketplace with California poppies on it when I actually lived there the last 3 years and now it's not only a great picture but also it's connected to a place and it contains memory which I believe is also super important to making places more homey or cozy.
Hey I just subscribe to your channel I have others I also watch I'm always decorating my home and watching you today you know what talking about and so confident I like that I will continue to watch your channel and lots of luck in this journey 😊
This is my first of your videos. I have to agree with you. Excited to watch more. I appreciate seeing your home to see if we style the same. My house is 90% vintage too so it doesn't look like big box room.
Excellente vidéo. Quel plaisir de voir de plus en plus de chaînes UA-cam de bon goût comme celle de Paige Wassel ou Caroline Winkler. Et très rafraîchissant de voir un homme aussi. Bravo !

I love you mentioned the coffee shop vibe videos! I’m guilty of this
They're soooo good. Recently I've been playing the Halloween themed ones haha
Los ángeles makes it too easy to thrift shop on facebook marketplace. My city is the ABSOLUTE worst for it.
I was exactly the same way with overhead lights!!! I still am to be honest. I hated too bright.

Lol i bought my house 4 years ago. Im literally never leaving. Yet, i havent hung 1 thing, its all just leaning against the walls 🤣
Hanging art really adds a lovely quality to a space. Made myself some prints (originally to sell) but now I’m thinking I wanna keep them😂😂
