Pandemic was crushing for me in gaming term. So I learned 3D design and Sculpting for terrain lol. Kept my mind busy and away from chewing on furniture, but was also a downer for motivation. Feel your pain. Amazing work, thank you for sharing your struggles through the project.
Nice work! I printed and painted many of the same houses myself, and recognize all the pain points and struggles you show (gawd, all those wooden beams!). Good tip on using a wash at the end, haven't tried that - will keep in mind. I printed my houses in black PLA, then just heavy drybrushed grey on the stonework to keep the black as shadows in between the stones. Painted roofs with cheap acrylic green or red paint, kind of dry-brushy, several layers. Turned out decent, nothing special. But yeah... all the window beams and wooden beams... phew! Takes time.
I cannot recommend washes enough. Give it a shot! Yeah the wooden beams were a killer. Definitely gonna need to find a better way! Thanks for watching and for your kind words!
I use the wash as well I find it hides some of my failures LOL they all look great. I prefer to work with terrain and such. Mini painting is whole other level of suckage
Exactly! Washes tie everything together and help to hide the crime 😂. Terrain rocks, but mini painting is also fun once you get a process that works for you, I have a video on mine if you wanna check it out
Amazing job! I printed these off about a year ago and only have around half painted for the exact same reason. Fab work on the video/editing and nice clear instructions, I have subbed and look forward to seeing more content from you in the future. Can I ask where you got/how you made the grass/cobblestone mats at the end of the vid?
Thank you so much, it is very much appreciated! I hope you find the motivation to get it done at some point too! The grass mat is actually just a sheet of XPS foam that I carved a grid into and then added tile grout and flocked. And the cobblestone mat is a from a craft store called Michael’s, it was part of their Christmas village sets, I just glued it to an xps sheet and then painted it.
Your work is great, but I wanted to point out that your voice in your descriptions is quieter than your background music. I had to guess what you were saying a lot based on the graphics. still quite entertaining but I'm sure I missed a few things.

Lol 19 years later, that was subtle. Thank you for sharing your craft and talent.
