    • @localsheriff
      @localsheriff 4 години тому

      Well, the US didn't... FWD is as old as the invention of the self propelled vehicle that Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built in 1770. While FWD was employed by a few manufacturers even around the end of the 1800s those were mostly concepts or hand built low volume. It wasn't until the French manufacturer Tracta developed their constant-velocity joint in the 20s that FWD regular production vehicles would emerge

    • @nobatteriesincluded3968

    Yeah Scotty, I've owned a '96 Caprice, a "Sheriff's Special",,,,, it had the L-99, it was a "smaller", less powerful LT.......so many of the SAME PARTS, much less H.P. 200/ 4.3 Ltr/ V-8.... great car, I made it get between 11 city, (driving like U, a maniac), and up to 34mpg on the FREEWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trunk was like typical GM's.... long/wide/ flat....... limited on what you could put into it.......UNLIKE: a "FORD"/Lincoln........5 body trunk...........so deep, and useful. Great car though! Since it was a former cop car, I was told that "maybe" it doesn't have a "CHIP" in it,,,,,,,,,,,so, I tried going to TERMINAL velocity,,,,,,,,, 1st time, 114 mph. 2nd time, got to : 121mph,,,,,,,,,and all of the sudden,,,,,,,,,,,the car just "died",,,,,,,,, /went back to IDLE........ pulled over , turned it off, then I started it back up,,,,,,,,,,,and aha..........I guess the chip, allowed it to get to 121mph, then shut off.
