    Great set of targets. Having used my Sanyang 135mm for the last two years with DSLR, Mono and OSC astronomy cameras I now advise anyone considering taking up wide field astro photography to seriously consider this as a first buy. Its relatively cheap, you don't need a field flattener, you can mount it on a star tracker mount and there are accessories such as auto focuser kits, filter holders readily available, and it can be used to produce excellent images.

    Great list! The southern hemisphere sky is filled with 135mm targets: the Magellanic Clouds, the Vela SNR, the Carina Nebula and surrounding clusters, the Coal Sack, Alpha and Beta Centauri, Omega Cen and NGC 4945, and so much more! A 135mm is all you need to shoot a lot of southern targets.

    The Samyang 135mm lens is my favorite “telescope” to use. My favorite targets are the North America Nebula, and a wide view of the Orion Nebula. I 3D printed my own mount for it called the HyperPod 135 that lets me use the lens just like a telescope. Awesome video, I love your guys target guide videos and I use your guidebook all the time. Clear skies!

      I bought the HyperPod with ZWO EAF Holder option. Awsome design! People who want to get the most out of this lens for astrophotography should just buy it! WAY BETTER than it's competition. I replaced one of those. I know.

      I may get one! I now have two star trackers and have to get down to biz and actually use them! Headed to mt. Rainier--two spots in two nights.... My wide field kitty for non-tracked is full!! EF 85, Rokinon 14 and 24 2.8 and 1.4, Siggy Art EF 28 and 35 1.4, RF 15-35 2.8..... and RF 70-200 2.8 plus a non pro lens that I may or may not try..the 18-400 Tamron--it's slow on the big end!

    I have to admit something here... I've been struggling to get the backspacing right on my Rokinon 135mm and Askar 200mm with mono cam and filter wheel. With a dslr... no problems 👍👍

    would be nice to see what the actual size would be of the objects in the field of view of a 135 without any photo crop.

    135mm sigma, samyang, sony ???? Is F2.0 enough, good , bad or not big enough F/ stop??? Would my Sony FE 70-200 F2.8 GM2 be a good choice?

    Amazing topic, thanks for maybe getting me going into astrophoto without the expensive gear. What was the exposure time in average ? Did you use a simple tripod or did you use one of your tracking mount ?

    Is this good for “deep scape” photography as well? Do you have any videos about composing and editing those?

    Great video! I was not aware that the Polaris region was so interesting. I was considering to buy a 135mm lens from Rokinin (Samyang). But I leaned that Askar has a small scope 135mm made exactly for astrophotography and I changed my mind. I think the Askar might be a better option. The Askar is about 250$ and the Samyang lens 450$ so it is also much more economic. Anyone has experience with any of those two?

    • @BadYossa
      @BadYossa 11 місяців тому +1

      The Askar is an apochromatic triplet lens/scope, with 1 ED element and it is an amazing piece of kit, but only has an aperture of 30mm, compared to 67mm on the Samyang. Think finder scope size - such as the ZWO 30mm or SVBony equivalent. It's fast, at F4.5, but the Samyang is faster at F2.0. I believe you need a matched flattener to use it with dedicated astro cameras, but check for your self, to be sure.
      It's kind comparing apples with oranges, to an extent, but for me, the Samyang is far more versatile. I can use it easily with my DSLR or dedicated astro cam (google ZWO Nikon T2 Mkii adapter- Canon version also available). These adapters mean you can use all your DSLR lenses with most (all?) astro cameras with spot on back focus - that's pretty sweet.
      Hope this helps!

    Are the samples from using this 135mm on a full frame or cropped sensor camera?🔭📷🤔

    • @endautrestermes
      @endautrestermes 11 місяців тому +1

      I suppose they were using FF, since they mention on Cassiopea that a crop 135mm wouldn't work. So I guess we should use a 90mm f2 (although they did not mention the aperture of their recommended 135mm)

      That was my question. I Have a ZWO 533mc pro on my OTA, but over the past week or so, have been playing with an APSC asttro moded Rebel T7i, and I could put a full frame unmmoded on it. I have a 2" OPTOLONG L Enhance on the OTA. Maybe need a clip in for the DSLR's?
      This, as was said, is perfect timing!
      I have imaged the Cygnus loop, and Sadr region, with my 360mm OTA, and want to use my Rokinon for these, as framing is too tight with 360mm scope. By the way, I use THINKABLE Creations 3D clamp with the 135!
      It's extremely well designed. If people out there are going to use this lens for astrophotography, do yourself a favor, and buy it!
