I have had both and I def prefer the UGQ. You cannot go wrong either way and I slept warm in my HG for 10 years or so. The UGQ doesnt treat their down with the water repellency and in turn, it breathes better. The HG would trap just a touch more moisture due to that treatment. UGQ realized that and went away from the treatment. It is a dryer sleep for sure...hooked from the very first night's sleep.
I live in Jackson Michigan ive been saving up to go down their and get a custom made underquilt topquilt and tarp im so excited to use local company and i get to upgrade my amazon buys and get some great gear for my hammock
Love the video Pete. I've watched a million videos on the bandit and yours was really informative. Can I ask what colour you went for please? I'm going around in circles deciding and they all seem to change colour on the videos. Thanks 👍
Thanks Paul! That came a grey with the custom logo print on there...Im not even sure if that is a standard color offering or if it was part of the printed fabric stuff.... As for colors, t is totally subjective. I like muted natural colors for my gear so I can blend in. greys, olive drabs, tundra colors etc...
@@RiverKingsKayak Thanks Pete. I wondered if it was the Robin blue colour but couldn't tell. Doesn't help I'm colourblind 🤣 looks amazing though, and I too like the muted colours 👍
"Like being in your mother's womb", I love it. You are one heck of a salesman, but that seems to be becasue the quality of the products you are using are so solid. Thanks again, keep up the great videos and have fun out there!
he he! That is how it feels! Thanks Douglas! I like to share the love on good products. When things aren't easy, good gear often makes the difference in enjoyability of the outdoors.
Hello Pete great video as usual, I was wondering if you use these in the middle of the summer or if they get too hot? Wisconsin weather is a little colder than NC. Just want to get your take/perspective. Thanks!
Have the same combo in a 10 degree. UGQ is an amazing company. I hiked the manistee river trail this year in a blizzard with my quilts, Noah 16, and hammock. 15 degrees at night and found myself venting off heat. Probably one of my best purchases.
UGQ did a great job on the designs, Pete! Very cool to see they rate it for comfort and not survival. I’ll definitely be looking into UGQ when I put together a hammock sleep system.
Thanks for the elaboration! Was wondering how low I should go on temp rating being I do most of my camping here in SC and rarely under 30 degrees. I see your point in going lower and venting and being prepared verses not having enough!
You bet Brad! I have been cold before and I avoid it at all cost! LOL. Im not talking about being a little chilly. Shivering for hours on end will change how you prepare!
I just ordered my Zeppelin Pete! I had been putting together options from 3 cottage builders and it eventually came down to price. I could have got a lot more choices on everything down to thread colors on some of the quilts but all of that customizing cost $$$$s. UGQ was the best price with comparable features. Yes it may weigh a few ounces more, but I think I'm going to be very happy with what I get. Thanks for your review! Maybe later I can get a Bandit with the RK logo in the color I want??? :-) Zeppelin Under Quilt Fill Power: 800 Temperature Rating: 0*F/-18*C Length: 77" (196cm) 800 Overstuff ($14.00): 2oz 800FP Inner Shell Color: M10T BURNT ORANGE Outer Shell Fabric ($55.00): HEXCAM FABRICS HEXCAM®: HEXCAM SPECTRE PRIMARY SUSPENSION: 1/8" SHOCK CORD 24X36 MESH STORAGE SACK ($10.00): YES PLEASE
That is awesome!! You are going to love it! If you want the RK logo on there, just tell them - they will have the file saved. It will add a few bucks though. I am not charging any royalties or anything - they just have to get that fabric printed for that quilt, and yes on any color you want. Congrats! I absolutely love mine.
Much easier to regulate too much heat than being cold! I am a 500 nite in zero quilts believer! Let me know how do you feel about it once you try it out a few times!
Ima comefert camper.and them there look sweeeeeeet.
for sure!!!!!!!
Very thorough and good detail. I am considering a UGQ quilt at the moment. You have me really considering one. UGQ or HG 🤔

Oh yes, no issues. You can simply open the doors.
@@RiverKingsKayak thank you sir.
Great video, Pete...…. You sold me...…. I am buying!!!

Thanks ItWwB!
Thanks for the fantastic comprehensive review. These are definitely on my next list.
Thanks Scott! They are well worth it!
Awesome review Pete! I've been looking at UGQ for a while, just haven't made the leap yet. Your boy Pete has an awesome dad for hand-me-downs!
Thanks Jeff! Yeah Pete knows how lucky he is! He is really really excited about it as well!

Thanks Chris! I agree!!

Thanks Dirk!! They are really nice and they keep you warm and toasty!!
Now you're definitely ready for some winter camping...those really came out looking great!
Thanks Austin!

If I had one of these I wouldn't have to spoon with Shane on those cold nights.
🤣😂🤣😂
“...a forced exercised that was not enjoyable whatsoever....” 😂😂 My back knows what you’re talking about.
LOL! Sounds like a great story!
Do u find it hard to sleep in there with all those eyes looking at u?
he he! Never have!
Why would anyone want that on your walls. I hope their not real.
I brought a 0 degree b/c of this video.Hopefully it is not too hot
