Hello my friend Daniel, And nice video. Thank you. Merry Christmas. I wish 2022 to bring peace, health and tranquility to all people. See you anytime. Big greetings. With all respect. Salut prietene Daniel, Si frumos video. Mulțumesc. Crăciun fericit. Îmi doresc ca anul 2022 să aducă pace, sănătate și pace tuturor oamenilor. Ne vedem oricând. Salutări mari. Cu tot respectul.
I have the 800 and 5000 as separate 10mm stones and i like them but they seem to be finer than advertised. The 800 almost gives you a polish. Maybe that is because they´re quite hard but the shapton kuromaku are even harder and tend to be a bit coarser than advertised, so I don´t think it´s the hardness. The 800 super stone is great for touching up a knife that isn´t quite sharp anymore but for a really dull knife I´d go to the 400 first. The 5000 gives a really nice polish. They could´ve written 10.000 on it and I would´ve believed it. Because they´re so thin I glued them to pieces of glass like the shapton glass stones. In hindsight I should´ve bought the 20mm thick ones since they cost only about 10 to 20€ more and you get twice as much stone.
The grit is not always an indication of the final result. The superstone are made with abrasive particles bonded together with some kind of resin. Shaptone kuromaku is made by baking abrasive particles at high temperatures. So kuromaku are only abrasive particles. That is the reason that they are more aggressive. :) The resin helps the superstone to give that superior finish.
The Naniwa Japan catalog gives indication that Super Stone is intended for soft knives and Professional is for hard knives. But translation is difficult for me.
@@DanielWorkshop Yes, they have poor management, mixing names, part codes, and changes to formulas so it is difficult to be sure if the "Superstone" exported to the USA in 2020 is the same as as the "Super stone" or "Kagayaki" in Japan in 2022. The Japanese catalog uses part code SS-xxxx for the Chosera because cho-sera means Super ceramic[Sera] . And Kagayaki "super stone" means radiance or brightness [ polishing ] and uses part codes IN and NK
Both of them have advantages and disadvantages. The super stone are splash and go. Some of king are soaking stone. Some of the lower grit king stones are very soft.

Hey nice work and like your stone holders.
Thank you. 😁

Yes but the name is a little misleading. :) You think that a Superstone is Super good. :))

What would you choose? Naniwa super stone 800 and 5000 or king 1000 and king 4000. They are all single stones. Price is the same for both sets.
Both of them have advantages and disadvantages. The super stone are splash and go. Some of king are soaking stone. Some of the lower grit king stones are very soft.
@@DanielWorkshop Ok. Thanks. I guess i will save some money and try to make your stone holder. Keep on filming. :)
