Never in my wildest dreams did i think my 2 biggest loves would ever happen concurrently😭😭😭im officially ok.harry potter and spoken word poetry ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️my life is so made!! I deserved for this poem to be written. I never knew i did, but i did.
"For what's a Black girl if she ain't magic?"; "...to put a horcrux in everything she touches?" Snaps til my fingers broke. This poem gave me shivers and tingles. You bet I would've been magic-ing up spells to do that 1.5-3 work on my hair as I figured out more spells. I feel called out and I love it.
JK Rowling also never specified her skin color _specifically_ to allow minorities to imagine her as looking like them. Brown hair and eyes with frizzy hair. She could be anyone, of any race. Black, Indian, Asian, white, Latino, we are all Hermione Granger. It would’ve been nice for her to be played by a minority though.
She said her skin turned pink in one of the books from the cold. She also put our a illustrated picture with one of the books in which she was white. Another fun fact. Hermione is mostly JK Rowling's depiction of herself as expressed in interviews.
JK Rowling never specified the race of Hermione Granger because she operates in a tradition of White Western authors assuming that whiteness is the racial default. She took her characters’ race for granted to the point where she didn’t feel like she had to state it. The only characters whose race she specifically mentions are her characters of color.
@@afroqueen98 Correct. She was very descriptive and detailed with her descriptions of non-white characters. She went as far as to describe the details of Pavarti Patel's Saree in Goblet of Fire. Blaise, Shacklebolt, Lee Jordan, Angelina Johnson, Dean Thomas etc etc etc. I didn't expect someone name Cho Chang to be portrayed by a Welshman.
And 1: there are black people in born and raised in Britain. 2: Even Brits have different drawls based on regional accents. Britain has a "south" too, silly.
Agreed 100% It honestly made no sense whatsoever that they whitewashed her for the movie, and Ron was an abusive piece of shit who didn't deserve her greatness.
"As shown in this tweet, Rowling has said that Hermione has brown eyes, frizzy hair, and very clever. Hermione isn't necessarily white. But, as you can see in a book illustration of Hermione, she does have white skin." What does it matter what skin color she was? She's a HBIC, leave that shit be.
I’m sorry but this is weak to me. There a thousands of amazing books and stories with amazing characters of color. Many or most written by POC. Acting like we have to change other races to our own is unimaginative and lame in my eyes. We shouldn’t push for pandering. Push for have our stories told about our characters. And characters of other races as well.
Hinata Uzumaki JK Rowling never specified, though there is a lot of evidence pointing to her being white, if you search for it. I’m completely in support of Hermione being black, but I don’t think Rowling initially wrote her that way. I believe she may have changed her mind after the idea was called to her attention.
I’m not a big fan of people as I am a introvert, so I hate everyone equally. I’m just saying, one thing isn’t just for one type of skin color. Everyone can be represented by a character, no matter what race, gender, or religion you are.
@@isabellawilliams9040 I never said power, intelligence or anything remotely similar was strictly about color. That all lives matter rhetoric only detracts from the message black girls need specifically, so it was given from us, by us. Whether you meant to water it down or not is moot. The message still stands
CeeCeeOnIt87 it is not only black people who need the message. Hispanic, native Americans and Asians need the message too. Even Irish Scottish etc, which are “white” races need the message. Just because you are counted as white doesn’t mean you have everything easy in life.
Why do we have to make everything racial nowadays why can’t Hermoine be human like she was a minority’s because of her muggle background but saying “she should’ve been a black girl” is SO offensive to “white” people because why can’t a white girl be magic, why can’t a white girl no more spells than a teacher and be the smartest in her class? Just like a black girl? The thing wrong with this is we are all HUMAN we shouldn’t have to categorize ourselves into boxes because we are not boxes we are human beings. Black girls and Asian girls and white girls and Indian girls and Christian girls and Muslim girls and white men and black men however you lane yourself, should ALL be allowed to be a hermoine granger.

hermione’s race actually was specified as white in the books but she was played by a black woman in cursed child.
"Hermione’s white face was sticking out from behind a tree." Prisoner of Azkaban, chapter 21, line 18. I'm glad black people also enjoyed those books.

yes but in movies the majority of lead characters are white
I think that why should you're color matter isn't that what fought for and now ere try to break what we fought for I mean now i am just confused.
Can I request a poem? I'd love to get a "T'Challa should if been white" poem.
Please and Thank You.
Cool poem. But actually the muggles are the majority and the magic born are the minority.
Jalen Smith I fee like they meant in the magic community. Muggleborns were looked down on. Not by everyone but enough to be considered a minority
As a white woman:
Yessssss plz give me black Hermione.
