    Just4growers is the first channel I've subscribed to. I'm not an avid UA-cam guy, but after watching these videos I felt compelled.
    There's not enough good things to be said about Everest. The passion he has for his trade is insurmountable, it's obvious if you watch more than one of his videos . His dedication and work ethic is inspiring. Imo the most selfless and helpful in our community.
    Much love and respect...

    Hey Everest, top feeding or hand watering is how I'm using rockwool! I found it because of you and I'm enjoying the experiencing! Can you go into more detail about how I should hand water? EC's and ph's? Should I raise my ph towards the end of flowering to lock out nitrogen? Should I keep my EC's the same or raise them? Should I alternate them? Should I hand water them and leave them to soak some water up and then drain the water so they're not sitting in a tray of water all day? Lots of questions, but appreciate your videos and how much they've taught me already!

    I have been feeding 1/3 rd of recommended amount . I think i heard you say in hydro give full but go easy in soil . Hate to be a pain but my tomatoes and fruiting plants are something i can squeeze educating from . So pal full dose for stage of growth or 1/3 . Your grateful pal in ireland

    Absolutely 💚 you Dude😁
    Thank you! Thank you! For The plethora of flowing knowledge & jokes! Fun learning Lol crack me up!
    I’ve got a grow tray 3.5x16’ flood to drain with a 3” drop from one end to the other.
    4” stonewool cubes covered with plastic. My potential game plan is to purchase a moisture meter.That way I can dial in how long to go between watering 👍🏼?? Some other questions I have is,
    Do plants feed at night?
    Should I not water at night?
    Can I take take advantage of dryback at night while the plants are resting? Or do the roots not grow when plants are sleeping 💤??
    Much love!
    ✌🏼

      +GoodVibeGetDown Thanks good vibes. Plants do transpire a little bit at night. But Do not feed at night. In fact, don’t feed after two hours before lights off. Roots do grow while plant is “sleeping” - respiration requires oxygen so a drier root zone is a good thing.

    Everest, Firstly thank you for the videos you post. It is a free education you are giving out here so really a big thank you!
    If i am running an Edd Flow top feed system into stone wool 'tomatoes' i can work out my optimum running pump time based on your calculation from you other video this is cool. Also not to water until and hour on / two off before lights off.
    My question is how often through the day should you water? How many cycles? I do not want to over water to promote root growth / disease and root problems but also want to ensure my plants are at the best they can be.
    Any help is much appreciated and you have a fan for life here in the UK.
    Ps. Of course i subscribed ;)

      +ES P Hello matey guvna. Very, very interesting questions. So happy to hear you're in stonewool. I love the stuff and I am about to make a bunch of videos about all the ins and outs of irrigating it properly. The good news is, stonewool is very forgiving. It likes a dryer cycle but not too dry all the minerals can concentrate in the block. I'm working on putting some rules and guidance together in an upcoming video. Are you in slabs, unislabs, blocks (e.g. Hugos, Big Mamas, etc) chunks, gro-wool or some other form? Did I mention that I friggin' love stonewool? Ah yes I did....

    Would it be possible to put a few big mama blocks together, press them “tight” with a foil and grow taller and bigger plant/trees ? Just to get a bigger root area ?

    Stupid question - If I'm just a home gardener, can I take the little rockwool square with sprout started indoors and transplant into my raised bed planters once established? Just want to see if I should stick with soil.

      Yes you can! Just try and harden them up first - ease the transition between environments.

    is there an easy way to clean roots out of rockwool so you can reuse it ?

    • @77HRU33
      @77HRU33 9 років тому +1

      I believe that is practically impossible.... The roots get entangled in the stone wool itself. Just opened 1 up to examine the roots, it can't be done.

    • @triplebasic
      @triplebasic 9 років тому +1

      HRU is right. But not only can it not be done, rockwool is cheap. Buy more. Your local hydro store appreciates your business.

    Hi. please advise if rockwool insulboard can be used for hydroponics. Bearing in mind that Theses boards are made from rockwool

    • @Just4Growers
      @Just4Growers  7 років тому

      +Rajesh Timol Hi Rajesh - the rockwool used for insulation is hydrophobic - whereas the stuff used for hydroponics is hydrophilic.

    hello.. I want to know as to whether one can grow perennials in grow blocks or slabs of stonewool

    • @Just4Growers
      @Just4Growers  9 років тому

      vikram m Yes, absolutely. Any specific perennials in mind?

  • @NoahNobody
    @NoahNobody 9 років тому

    I've have some issues with germination of chilli peppers in starter plugs. The problem is the root has trouble penetrating the medium. I've taken care not to squeeze the cube and not to have it saturated with water, but those roots still have issues. It takes a really long time (weeks) to penetrate and this kind of screws up the early development of the plant.
    Has anyone had similar experiences which they managed to figure out?

    • @Just4Growers
      @Just4Growers  9 років тому

      Randy Marsh Hi Randy-are you sure you're not keeping the plugs too moist?

    • @NoahNobody
      @NoahNobody 9 років тому

      Everest Fernandez I follow a method where I soak them and then lightly pick one up and then kind of shake some of the water off it. It's then about 60-70% saturated.
      I've noticed some people stick a toothpick down the hole before inserting the seed. I could try this.

    • @Just4Growers
      @Just4Growers  9 років тому

      Randy Marsh Hi Randy. I don't think there's any need for toothpicks. I just lay the chile seed in the hole and tuck over a few fibers, just so the seed is surrounded by moist rockwool. I presume you're pH adjusting your soak water to 5.5?

    • @NoahNobody
      @NoahNobody 9 років тому

      Everest Fernandez Yep, the water is roughly between pH 5.5 and 6. I use litmus strips. It could possibly be the brand of rockwoll, which is a no name brand from my local grow shop.

    • @Just4Growers

      Randy Marsh Ah yes. Try Grodan Randy. I'm sure you'll love it.
