Mr. Heater, Best Little Buddy improvement

- I wanted a small, safe heater so I could sleep in the back of my Excursion. I open each window about 2 inches and it works great. I don’t want to drag my toy hauler around just so I can stay warm at night.
Nice 5 minute video...you got right to the point. I have one of these heaters and plan on making a stand just like you showed....way more stable than the round base they come with. Thank you!
You should have bought a MOFLAME Propane Gas Brass Tee Adapter instead of the hose. Then you wouldn't need the mount you built.
It would be too top heavy. I wanted something very low profile and stable so I can run it next to me while I sleep. Thx 🙏
Propane coming out of both the 1lb bottles and bulk tanks are high pressure with the Buddy Heater having it's regulator integrated inside. The rubber hoses leach oils out under that high pressure and can eventually gum up the Oxygen Depleation Sensor making the unit fail. To avoid that, use the inline filter that catches those oils. Also, if and when the Buddy Heater's regulators fail while in use, you have that high pressure propane feeding a fire. Seen it happen twice and no longer sleep with the heater on.
Good point, thx. I didn’t think 125-175 lbs was that much pressure, but the in-line filter makes total sense. I might put a regulator at the tank too. Only used this heater twice in 4 years. Most of the time one of my friends or relatives lets me sleep in their toy hauler.
@@Averageskill Propane PSI in bulk tanks is temperature dependent. At 70°, PSI would be around 145 while at 90°, it be at around 180 PSI. 105° would push it to around 235 PSI. That's why many propane providers limit max refill percentage limits as the temperatures warms up.
Haven't tried this myself but I've read people not having positive results adding a second regulator with one close to the tank. Seems there needs to be relatively high pressure for propane to be released into the Mr. Heater units and through the integrated regulator they provide.
@@williamfuller2389 All true, but regulators are generally open until something tells them to close. I went and checked the hose after reading your comment and it’s a very robust connector. Thx🙏
If I used this heater all the time it would have all metal tubing with the bottle outside. Never had problems with less quality BBQ hardware. When I used the heater all 6 windows on my Excursion were open at least 2 inches or it would get too warm inside, so I no didn’t worry about Co2 related fumes.
@@Averageskill Regulators restrict flow, not usually shuts off flow. High Pressure (150 PSI) in- Low Pressure out (15 PSI) BBQs don't have ODS, therefore don't get clogged up.
@@williamfuller2389 any regulator that doesn't shut off the flow when the desired pressure is reached needs to be replaced before something bursts. They are VERY restrictive if installed a long distance from the outlets. There's a lot of coefficients here.....too many to discuss.
I'll call you later
Yeah… I’m not very good at making videos.
