Nice work!! I had gone the aphasia 5 years before and today I’m able to speak but I feel embarrassed sometimes that I couldn’t recall the words of ( interstate, schools, parks, my kid’s friends names, actors and programming language of computers) useful. ‘I’m taking with someone and the conversation is about a school and I’m able to talk clearly but forget school’s NAME!!!!’. So, I think I’m not confident while speaking because embarrassment. But yes, your video pointed out to learn and re-learn the words daily so that it will become your vocabulary!!!! Thank you for the advice!!!!

Very interesting. I have to ask myself why am I so interested/bothered by my inability to remember names, yet maybe on a subconscious level I am just saying, "I really don't care...I'm checked out anyway". There is definitely a pressure aspect, as it is embarrassing at work. I lose a lot of chances to connect when people greet me by my name but I struggle and come back with a "good morning" or "hi" instead.

when I finally remember a word, after I use it I will forget it right away then try to remember it again. I'm getting better, it used to take me over a year to remember one word.

Please do not encourage untrained people to do speech therapy. The results can lead to disaster for both parties. Some patients see speech therapy as unpleasant and negative especially when it comes from an untrained family member .Please encourage progress in speech, not weaknesses..

Many people are quite capable of helping those with aphasia or speaking difficulties. They are not helpless and some patients are indeed finding speech therapy unpleasant and negative esp. when it comes to untrained, or poorly trained clinicians.
That is why I have written two books to help caregivers help their loved ones with memory strategies or speaking. It is training that I help people learn what to do especially during these trying times when many are not receiving care or have been discharged. There are also many who have given up on speech therapy for many reasons and still are looking for help. When care partners seek out information they can frequently learn what to do to help others with speech or memory concerns. Thanks for your comment.
