I have added a clip of the traditional game, an annual event held in my region of Friesland. Couples in Friesian outfits on single axle carriages pulled by Frisian horses do a circuit along which are post with wooden hands attached via hinges. Brass rings are placed between the fingers of these hands and the women have what looks like a pistol also out of wood but the barrel is cone shaped and ends in a point. With it they attempt to catch the rings without stopping. The Man drives the carriage along the circuit and couples compete against each other. Each post has someone present to place new rings as they get taken. The team with the most rings after a set number of laps wins. Consider it a social event from days gone by. Friesland is a Northern province of The Netherlands and the origin of Frisian horses and cows, plus the language is very old and a grandfater of the English language. My parents used to participate in theses events. ua-cam.com/video/3PpjLxz-p3I/v-deo.html&ab_channel=GerlofOtter
This video is a jewel, still can't believe Ford tractors is gone, so a huge thumbs up for the farmers who take care of the old ones, Massey's also went through mergers but still you can buy a new one, why not Ford? Thanks very much trekkerweb for bringing this to us
The open station Fords with the big front tires really look funny to me. I have to wonder what use a tractor like that has. I would guess that for traction and also to handle an implement or something heavy on the front end. I'll look for them being used in future videos. I always love your videos and especially since they come from 'across the pond' so many miles from Georgia, USA.
Trekkerweb.nl That guy was going for some precision work. The video stopped but I figured he was going back to plow the same furrow and throw the dirt the other way. For pulling I bet it's good but I suspect it can't turn as tight at the end as the same tractor with small tires on the front. Thanks for the extra video. Your videos are always interesting to me.
County's are just modded British built Fords, with 4WD and a little more power which there was a market for, County also made other variations based on tractors aswell to suit different purposes. My friend has one and still uses it for work. You're right about the turning though.
County, Roadless and Muir Hill have a large following in the UK and Europe, and are specialist modifications of standard tractors for heavy duty work such as logging/forestry, Industrial and general Farming. They were great ploughing tractors as they had superior traction to anything else going.
