I got invited to paddle Itiwit x500 in Stockholm with Patrik.
It was some years I sat in a kayak and I'm not a experienced kayak paddler, more like newbie.
This day it was 100 years celebrations for Stockholm Stadhus 1923-2023.
The Swedish King and Queen goes with the boat, the sloop Vasaorden to be a part of the celebrations.
We also get a close call with a police boat, that really test my kayaking and balance skills.

Thanks! It was a different paddle than I’m used to. It was fun to paddle in Stockholm and test kayaking. Both sup and kayak are fun and has different benefits and cons.

@@danerik.westerlind 😎 It was nice to have you in the city. I have a lot of kayaks and a SUP. I guess things would balance out if in the future you were to have a lot of SUPs and a kayak 🙂

A surfski for beginner with a dayhatch would better than this awful kayak. Patrick had chosen very well the day to invite you.
As "awful" kayaks go, this one endured better than a number of the 115 sea kayaks participating in Swedish Sea Kayak Day last year (40+ km for a few of us) and was not the slowest kayak in a group of sea kayaks during a recent 4 day archipelago expedition. For an inflatable, it's quite powerful. Of course a surfski would be faster though. But yes, the day of the visit happened to be very well timed in the end 🙂
I know you love surfskis and not so much kayaks anymore. I think this is the perfect choice for Patrik who lives in an apartment and doesn't have a car but likes to go on adventures and kayaking with his friends.
This Itiwit kayak is one of the best among inflatable ones as far as I can tell.
I've kayaked the x500 for a while now and find it comparable to a hardshell, I don't think its awful at all! If anything, I'd say its the best inflatable sit-in kayak ever, massive love for the x500.
