I have just purchased a banjo. I'm an old fellow, a complete novice, I haven't got a clue! .. and I've just got hold of a set of classic Nylgut strings (via eBay). You can perhaps imagine my horror, when I opened the packet ... no loops!! So ... just a few minutes ago, I stumbled on your wonderful video. Thank you so much! You've explained the process so very simply. You are a splendid chap! By the way, I was born in Watford during WW11. I have been living in Western Australia since 1969. I will have to look for more of your banjo video advice. Thanks again. Oh! I like your t-shirt. Cheers!
They say 'Simple is the ultimate sophistication' and this video is yet another proof of it. I am going to try putting some nylgut on my 5-string steel string banjo. I will use your method. You are a god-send.
I sing the shanty "Can you tie a Bowlin a Bowlin HO " Evrytime I do a set .. this is way too easy ! Thanks for the heads up .. I love playing with Nygut strings .If you are playing in the north say a big hello to John Yeoman and my old frend Bill Sables both in Yorkshire !

Excellent, I would advocate wetting the nylon as you tighten the knot - fisherman trick!
Thanks! Going to purchase my strings today!!!
Works really well. Thank you.
Try a perfection loop. Best knot I've ever leaned for so many applications.
Awesome! This is just what I needed. Trying it now...
I'm just about to buy a set of nylons for my banjo as I'm trying to get a more mellow sound. Stumbling upon your post here was perfect. Thanks!
I endorse this profanity-free method! :o)
Worked on my Recording King with Presto tailpiece. Thanks! Now to file my bridge for my first nylgut set...
Just so simple!
