Shingles - poor you! I had it in 1998 and still remember the pain. Love your soft cuddly hoodie - perfect for now. You love your Singer - my 1954 Elna Supermatic is queen of my sewing room. Thanks for your excellent demonstration of The Lutterloh Golden Rule System - still thinking ...
Love your make you’re an inspiration 🥳🥳I’ve just watched another lutterloh pattern user and she photocopies the whole pattern and picture and she makes it into an envelope 😀how cool is that 🥳
I hope you're feeling better! For myself, I want to do a pullover top with a notch collar for a casual Boho feel. Then I want to get into more fitted patterns.
Wow that was good to watch. Just discovered the system and your channel today, did you follow the steps via the system? Glad you are taking care of yourself.
I tend to work it out. I did a placement in a sewing factory as a teenager and was always impressed how efficient they constructed the clothes they made. I try to adopt that approach.
Glad to see you're better. I got a shingles shot and it was not easy to deal with. So I can't even imagine the awful pain you went through. I live in a very warm climate. Are the pattern designs suitable for classy casual wear?
Hi! I love watching your videos! I learn so much from them. I just bought this system and I’ve made a couple basics that I like. But I’m lost on some of the construction. I recently tried to do #192, a halter neck tank top, and I really struggled with attaching the collar. Would you consider doing a tutorial for that tank top? I’ve searched the web, but am coming up short. Hope you are feeling better. Love your makes!
Hi thanks for the question. I have a Bernina Funlock 009DCC cover & chain machine. I’ve had it for many years (decades!) so doubt it is available now. You might find a 2nd hand one on eBay. I’ve noticed overlockers, cover & chain stitch functions are combined in newer machines but they are pricey. Good luck with your search 😊
I always start with fastenings like zips or buttons. Then I move onto pockets and details next I would sew shoulder seams and finish necklines. Then add the sleeves next sew sleeve seam and side seam in one long run and finally neaten cuffs and hems. It does vary in each garment but I would try to follow that order as best as I can. Hope that helps.
Really enjoying your vlogs which I’ve just found. I’m thinking seriously about buying this system as my measurements aren’t standard and I have to do a FBA on every pattern. I’ve only been dressmaking since lockdown (when I made loads of scrubs for the NHS) and I’m worried about not knowing how to construct the garments. I find written instructions difficult and my most successful makes are when I follow sew along videos. Do you think it would be worth me buying this system? Again thanks for your great vlogs.
Hi Kerry. Construction is different from other commercial patterns but I found they started to make sense after a few sews. You can establish the fit with the first few patterns then reference back to them when drafting the other patterns. Hope that helps with your decision to buy the system. I’m happy to answer any construction questions.
I’m interested in The Golden Rule - do they have marks so you can make torso height and crotch adjustments? And I am rather small, size 4 US. Do all the patterns have sized into the small side?
Hi Brenda. Because the patterns are so quick to draft you can fit and alter paper patterns before cutting into your fabric. To shorten the bodice patterns draw a horizontal line at cross (the cross is where you plunge the pin to draft the patterns) and shorten the height there. To change the height of the trouser crotch, I would slice through the pattern at hip level and alter your pattern there. Hope that helps.
All the stress! Hope things are going well for you and your family. I wanted to ask a question please. I've sewn for years, and recently watched lots of videos regarding the Lutterloh kit. But so far they all show how to draw the actual pattern pieces, but no one then mentions the instructions for assembly of any of the garments. I've only used bought patterns for shirts etc but they give a list of instructions on how to assemble it. With this system, does it rely on you just having a knowledge of garment construction?
Thankfully things are starting to calm down a bit here! Yes I think having a knowledge of garment construction is useful when using the Lutterloh kit. Other than the symbols found on the back of each supplement that explains where to place gathers, elastic or facings etc you don’t have any additional information. As a general rule, when I make garments, I work on details like pockets or darts on the front and then the back of garments. Then I sew shoulder seams and move onto finishing necklines and openings then I fit the sleeves into the shoulder seams, then sew the side seam from the cuff to the lower hem. Finally finishing the cuffs and hems. That process always works for me. Hope that helps 🙂
@@jenstylishsoul thank you so much for your reply, and for taking the time 🙏 It sounds like a great system to use and the system you use for order of construction sounds ideal too! I've mostly made men's shirts, and children's dresses for partner's granddaughters, but it will be interesting to construct garments without step by step instructions. I did just sew my first ever dress, from a pattern (filmed on my latest UA-cam video, my channel is called Wackiwear) and it's given me the bug to sew more for Women. I've put the Lutterloh kit on my Christmas list, well, that is the only thing on my list 😁. I've subscribed to your channel as I think your videos are nice to watch, and informative. Thanks again, hope you have a nice Christmas and stay safe! 👗😊 Richard
Thank you so much for your reply and thank you for subscribing. I’ve have just subscribed to your channel 😊. I actually prefer sewing without instructions. When I was young I spent a lot time pulling garments apart to see how they were constructed. I found commercial patterns have too much basting and hand stitching (ain’t nobody got time for that! 😆) mass produced garments are sewn in the most efficient way - quick and simple. That’s how I like to sew. I should have a Lutterloh surprise for my viewers on my next video so keep watching !!
@@jenstylishsoul thank you for subscribing back! Your videos, especially the sewing ones, are so easy on the ear and eye to watch, and such a change from most sewing ones that seem to be high pitched American gals lol. By the way, good luck with the Spanish! Years ago I went to Granada to live for one month to go to Spanish school. I wish I'd kept going, I even bought the rosetta stone program but never studied it, maybe one day! My mum was a seems tress and taught my sister. I learnt a bit from her, but wish I'd learnt more before she passed away. I'm hoping my partner, John will get me Lutterloh for Christmas, but if not, I'll buy it in the new year. Desperate to try it out 👗😁 And looking forward to your next video, you've got me all interested now 😁 Hurrah for the Internet and having the chance to meet nice folk tgat you'd probably never know without it! 😊 Xx
hi. fun video. how did you lengthen the arm pattern? that's the thing I've been wondering about this system. I was thinking of trying out this system to make pants. I have a long crotch depth but short leg length, so want to be assured that I can make pants that fit.
I saw on one of the Lutterloh videos that you should lengthen pattern pieces at the point where you sink the pin when you are drafting your pattern. I think if you avoid lengthening in the sleeve head or armhole it should work out fine.
Çan you please omit the noise in the background it is so off putting and not necessary , otherwise I have liked your videos very much but hatch 've turn sound off cheers June
Perfect 2020 fashion! Love your videos! I’ve just ordered Lutterloh and am happy to see videos on the actual construction on UA-cam.
That came out beautifully. You look gorgeous.
Sending well wishes for your eye to heal too.
just found your channel. Thank you for sharing your creations. Glad you are feeling healthier. I look forward to your next video.
Found you channel just now. Love your videos. Glad you are better. I also had shingles so I feel your pain. Can't wait for more videos. Stay safe!

Such a great, cozy top. Thanks for letting us watch your process. Pam
So Nice and Cozy! I just got the system, I think that I will try this one. Love the way you put the fabrics together!
Super video...Great to see how you construct and deal with seams etc. Very grateful for the tutorial xXx
Amazing! I just ordered the Golden Rule Sewing System and can't wait to get started. Your tips and illustrations are wonderful, thank you!
Omg shingles is the worst! Take care, thank you for sharing such a great video

Hi Linda thank you. I think patterns are suitable for all styles. I guess the difference is the fabric you choose. Hope that helps

What is the brand and model of your cover stitch? I’m looking for used older types maybe more affordable for me.

What is the name of thr padding product you used to put under th pattern for pinning it down to plot the dots? Get it from Amazon?
Hi there it’s mat for fitness machines. I got mine from Aldi I think about £15 for 10 squares that interlock together. Hope that helps 😀
