    Your projects are lovely! Thank you for sharing them. I just received my Lutterloh kit - have been learning to draw patterns from a sloper and wanted to incorporate more variety of styles. Am looking forward to starting with a jacket first and your video has really inspired me to "get going"!

    Follow the letters on the patter for the sewing order. Start with where you match the letter A then go on to B and so on

    What i love about this system is that even if you don't want to make the exact item you can use it to craft like a basic bodice or a basic dress and work from it to make it your own

    I loved your makes and would be so happy if you decide to post Lutterloh sew alongs/tutorials as I have the system but haven't had the confidence to make more than a very basic top...it would be great to have some help with the more adventurous styles. Thank you x

    I'm so glad to have found your channel. So lovely to see another mature woman of color on UA-cam! I've been thinking of buying the Lutterloh kit to versus tracing my clothes because I desperately want to sew for other people, too. THANK YOU for this review and especially modeling how the clothes fit.

      Thank you for your great comments! I think you will love how quickly you can draft patterns with Lutterloh versus tracing around your own clothes. For me, it brought the fun back to dressmaking.

    So glad you mentioned you owned the Lutterloh golden rule system for ages. I have owned the system since 2007 and dug it out of a storage tub a few days ago. Seeing the beautiful garments you made has inspired me. Tomorrow I will give it a go. Thanks for sharing.

    Great thank you i have this system but gave up because I thought the only things that could be made were basic like the waistcoat they shoe each time. I've bought SFD But struggle because you need help with measuring and altering my hubby does his best. I have learned I have narrow shoulders and need to do bust adjustments and other little tweaks for fit. I used Palmer and Pletch pattern book which is really good. I'm thinking maybe I should try the Lutterhol again. Look forward to seeing more videos from you Irene

    Love your projects!
    I am not really enthusiastic about the patterns this system offers & wondered if the system could be used with commercial patterns.
    While I've been sewing my whole lufe, and like you studied fashion design in high school & college & could put the patterns together just fine, but it doesn't seem like a user friendly system for a beginning sewer.

    • @mystylishsoul
      @mystylishsoul  3 роки тому

      Thank you. I think the more recent Lutterloh patterns do a better job of illustrating how the garment will look when sewn together. There are quite a lot of patterns suited to the beginner sewer but I agree it can be difficult to understand how to construct some of the more complex patterns. Hopefully I can help with that, with my videos. Thanks for watching 🙂

    I have one of those machines I bought it a year ago 🥳🥳🥳 I agree with quality 👍 do you find that the patterns and their details : sleeves skirts and tops etc are easy to mix and match ?

    • @mystylishsoul
      @mystylishsoul  3 роки тому

      Hi Wendy I love my singer sewing machine ❤️ yes after you have made a few patterns it’s quite easy to piece them together to make dresses or change a detail.

    Love your makes. Because it uses the full bust measurement do you find the shoulders and neckline can be to big?

    • @mystylishsoul
      @mystylishsoul  3 роки тому

      Hi Jules I’m not fortunate to have a full bust so the shoulders and neckline are perfect for me. If you are struggling to get a good fit practice with the waistcoat pattern. Draft the pattern using the full bust measurement then cut all pattern pieces from some cheap fabric to make a toile. Pin or extend the places that are too big or small and make a note of these alterations each time you draft another pattern from the range. Eg I have to lengthen the bodice by 5cm each time I draft a pattern. Hope that helps

    Love your makes! Your so talented. I am an ok sewer but I am just starting to make clothes. So do you recommend this for a beginner for clothes? TIA!

    • @mystylishsoul
      @mystylishsoul  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you 😊 I think the system is good as you have 280 patterns to practice your sewing with. Some are very simple and don’t really need instructions to make however the more complicated ones might be more challenging for the beginning sewer. Hope that helps

    When you say reduced by 10% or 5% how did you measure that? Was this in cm/inches? Lovely video, I am definitely purchasing this next week.

    • @mystylishsoul
      @mystylishsoul  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching. To reduce your pattern for stretch fabrics. Start by measuring a 10cm box of the fabric you plan to use. Then stretch the fabrics out just before it begins to buckle. Measure the stretched fabric. This measurement is your stretch ratio. Eg if the fabric stretches to 15cm it has a stretch ratio of 50% or if it stretches to 12.5cm then it has a stretch ratio of 25% so in order to get a closer fit I would reduce the width of the pattern (all pattern pieces across the width) by 5% on the 50% stretch ratio and 2% on the 25% stretch ratio. I work out how much to take off the pattern by using my hip measurement. If my hip measures 100cm and I want to reduce it by 5% I divide 5cm equally across all pattern pieces. (front pattern on fold reduce by 1.25cm and the back pattern piece reduce by 1.25cm then cut 2 pieces from fabric. Hope this helps
