Alan I just wanted to Congratulate you on 200 episodes. I was never so happy as when I found you that day talking about how you worked behind the scenes at GL and ATWT and that you missed them and wondered if we missed them too. As you found out we did...lol. From that day on I have been there for the interviews of all my favorite actors and I've loved every minute of it and look forward to many more interviews and many more episodes.
Thanks so much, Cassandra. What a lovely message. THANK YOU for watching and supporting me.
I really enjoy these interviews.
I am so glad to hear that, Monica. Many thanks!
I just finished watching all the episodes Christopher was in on The Edge Of Night so it's cool he says it was his favorite roll in this interview. He is good at playing a bad guy, ha ha.
oops! role not roll. I always have to proofread my spelling.
I may need to check these out.
@@TheLocherRoom I think his episodes start sometime in February or maybe early March of 1981. Unfortunately and strangely, they are not listed on IMDb for him. Maybe Christopher can tell you when his first appearance on The Edge Of Night occurred? also, a few months of early 1981 are not available. AOL started converting them to digital for a while and then People had copies of the ones that where repeated on USA network in the late 1980's I think and they uploaded them on here but USA started from June of 1981. I wish they would have started with January 1st but they didn't. I wish Retro TV would repeat all of the ones available like they have with The Doctors.
Why did dr. Miles cavanaugh feel bummed about nicole cavanaugh's death in the june 10, 1983 episode from the edge of night?
I would love to know why he only gave Eileen Fulton a glorified cameo in the ATWT finale. That was an appalling act of disrespect.
💯🤔
if AMC is rebooted it should be on ABC of course
🤷🏻♂️
Can u do Wendy Riche next?
Great idea! Let me look into that.
Chris shouldn't feel bad about passing on Josh Duhamel. Back in the 80's, All My Children passed on Julia Roberts because they didn't feel she had what they were looking for.
Is that true, Keith? Wow -- could you imagine if Julia had done AMC.
She was apparently up for the role of Linda Warner (Dr. Cliff’s sister) which went to Melissa Leo.
Oh Hi I remember the EON storyline with Nancy Carr being kidnapped. I remember the character I did not remember his name. Was Sharkey in that storyline where the Monticello actors group avenged Raven’s accusation that they couldn’t act? I’m going back to high school. The reason I can’t remember is because after GH, I would cook an evening afternoon meal for Grandparents. The tv was on, but I was cooking.
Great memory, Monica!
@@TheLocherRoom Many Thanks 👍
Hey Alan finnaly getting around to commenting on this interview.
So I will start with this Chris goutman had a deep love for aw and he starred on Texas for a little while.
Too and he directed at aw until around 1988 when ABC lured him to amc.
I will also say this Ed trach was an idiot for not giving him the producer job at guiding light in 1989.
Now to aw and this is where Mary Alice dwyer dobbin really messed up.
By going with Charlotte savitz instead of pulling Chris goutman from atwt to take over as Ep at aw. Back in 1996.
As he actually understand the show unfortunately by the time he got there there was not much he could do.
But I think he messed up by keeping Leah and Jean and just not dropping the storylines already mapped out and just bringing Richard and Carolyn culliton back as headwriters.
But I understand because aw looked nothing like it did in 1988.
When he left.
Also it was Ken Fitts who brought him back to p and g at, atwt as a director not Mary Alice dwyer dobbin in 1996.
Now to atwt he think he did the best he could and worked his butt off.
But when he came in as ep I think he screwed up by not having along with Carolyn culliton as headwriter her husband Richard and Stephen demorest back as headwriter because both of them knew how to write the show like the great Doug Marland did.
And I am mentioning that because I know when Chris got there as Collen zenk said he went around going I want this show looking like it did when Doug m wrote the show.
Unfortunately he just never got there.
And by the way I think Chris was the right guy for aw but Vivian gundaker should have been given a shot after Felicia was gone and thank God for that because atwt looked awful.
After John Valente worked his butt off to get atwt looking more like it did when Doug m wrote it.
Now to the Lilly debate.
Because I watched all 3.
And to compare Noel beck as Lilly to Heather ratrey as Lilly is disgusting because I saw that comment and yes Martha was my favorite but Noel beck did a hell of a job as Lilly and you did not hear Jon Hensley complaining that holden was boring like what happened back in 1992 which is why Doug m did the holden amnesia storyline.
And Alan I think Doug m actually wanted Noel beck back in 1989 to replace Martha Byrne as lily but at the time she re signed with loving as Trisha who Douglas created back in 1984 and wrote for.
But I will say this I still hate how it was handled with Martha in 2007 2008.
And while I think Douglas himself would have hated how it was handled he most certainly would have approved of Noel beck.
Now to Craig and seirra scott Bryce was Craig and Finn Carter were those charecters.
Period but as Scott Bryce showed even if you have him back if the writing is bad it's bad with him still playing Craig too much like tonio.
Finally I will say this I think atwt in the later years with Chris there forgot viewers have long memories.
But at Least the show was watchable in the later years VS Felicia and the period right after Doug m died because both were ridiculously painful.
Or as hogan would say boring as hell especially with Felicia.
But this is where I digress as hogan took it to far.
Where Douglas would have said no do this and probably told hogan no about burning Barbara in a fire but insisted Jullie come back and said no to the rose idea in that form and instead locked Barbara up in the Swiss spa.
And had Julie locked up.
And dragged Andy and Paul into the mix.
Also Douglas would have said no to Paul bieng a bad guy and insisted Andy come back as Paul and write him the way he intended.
But still a great interview I just wish Chris goutman could do a reset remixed another world because he actaul knew the show. And you can tell how much he still loves that show.
Thank you, Gabriel for your dedication and deep thought to all these shows and my guests. It doesn't go unnoticed.
This man DESTROYED ATWT. Too many boneheaded decisions. So many poor castings. As much as I liked Noelle Beck, not negotiating Martha Byrnes’ return as Lily Snyder in ATWT’s final months felt like a particular slap in the face.
💯💯💯💯💯
ALSO HUNT BLOCK YUCK AS CRAUG.SCOTT BRICE WAS THE ONLY CRAIG.
Congratulations Alan
Thanks, Mark.
