Congratulations, Sergey. You played magnificently. This is truly and literally a fantastic piece, and it must be an honour to have had the maestro listen to you and advise you in such an avuncular and cultured way, (when he remembered to speak into the microphone, and we could hear what was being said). I'm sure that you will remember this occasion all of your life, as will I.

Ernie Tarling : The maestro should have been given a clip microphone. How can anyone possibly teach, make music, handle an ice-cream mike, and communicate with an audience simultaneously? He is a brilliant musician, the best, but is not a magician.

This young man plays with unbelievable Technical Brilliance and Interpretational Skills which for his age are amazing I think he has a future as a brilliant concert pianist and will probably give masterclasses himself in the future A pleasure to watch and listen to 😊

I couldn't agree more He really has technical brilliance and Interpretational Skills. This Schubert Piece is incredibly difficult to play!! Schubert was an absolute genius I LOVE his music. I would love to hear Sergey Balyevsky play a masterpiece such as Beethoven Emperor Concerto ❤❤

In the beginning was the Word.
Without words we can not make imagination.
When Schubert read poetry, music was reflexively born.
It is not seem for work of composition.

I wonder what Schiff thinks of Lang Lang's Carnegie Hall rendering of the Schubert...

Sergey is there any chance you could teach me how you play those octaves at the end of the first movement? It looks so easy for you! Thanks for sharing this masterclass! I learnt a lot from you and Sir Andras Schiff.

Practice separate hands, play it light and easygoing and don't think about them in advance :)

Sergey Belyavsky thanks so much! Those octaves prevented me from playing The Wanderer in public! I’m so impressed with your execution of them, and your understanding of the work as a whole.
I’ve also heard many of your other performances recently - very inspiring playing! Cheers!
