The characters of Hetalia may be a silly bunch but if you look back at history, the wars, the horrors, you'll realize they've been through some crazy shit. Even modern day things are happening. If you think about it, each of the characters would be in pain because of all the people dying, fighting and it would put them in a depressed state. The amount of time the world spends on fighting is absolutely RIDICULOUS. I mean, the only peace I ever feel the world has is on Christmas because everyone is celebrating their beliefs (I am aware some cultures don't celebrate. Partake the differences. Embrace them. At least get to know some other religions as well. You'll understand.). The only time I feel entirely safe is if I go to Canada to visit friends. Even then, I'm still alert because you never know what can happen to you.
I wish there may be a dark version of Hetalia, where the anime is more serious, characters are more dark and wars are in the anime, It would be really cool, because character designs are awesome! Also the episodes may problaly be near 25 minutes.

The fan art and amv's and everything of this anime are all so epic and dramatic and then the show itself (at least at first glance) is all sunshine rainbows and bunny-filled meadows XD
This makes me think, they could've made the story of WW2 in this show and have the Axis as the antagonists and the Allies as the protagonists. I wonder what it would've looked like if it went down that path...
It would be cool, but we can't be exactly sure of what happened as almost no country would say they did something bad and would blow out of proportion things enemy did or just lie. People from one country would say it was portrayed correct, while other would say they didn't.

It kind of scares me to see the outside of all the countries. They seem so happy, bouncing around and joking. Then you look back in history and see that they have been taken as slaves and treated like they wern't even human beings and its kind of scary whats going on in their heads...
