Mount Pleasant invests $3M to renovate Shem Creek shrimp docks

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - Mount Pleasant is working to keep the local shrimping business alive.
Roughly 12 months of construction began last Monday to build a new shrimp processing facility and dock.
The project costs nearly $3 million and town officials said it’s been planned for five years.
“Shrimping is a big part of Mount Pleasant's history. We want to preserve and protect it,” said Kevin Mitchell, the town’s deputy director of engineering and development services.
