Unironically my favorite funny Aaron Sorkin moment is in the west wing when a republican presidential candidate has a terrible answer to why he wants to be president and so the entire episode is the democratic White House staff laughing at him. Then when they are asked why Bartlett wants to be president his own staff isn’t sure. The whole episode is a set up for a final big monologue for Bartlett to remind people and the viewers why he’s the best person for the job. They his press secretary asks Bartlett the current president why he wanted to be president and he says that’s a good question and he’s still trying to figure it out and then it cuts to black, end of the episode. Because even Aaron Sorkin realizes sometimes this shit is complicated and one 60 second speech isn’t going to work.
