It'll come a time where, assuming you stay longer in Chile, you'll talk to Moses in English and he will reply in Spanish, and neither of you would realize you're having a fluent conversation in two different languages. That's really fun.
Hi Jon!! I love all your videos, they are cool, fun and promote the respect of a different culture. I’m a Chilean teacher living in the USA, How fun, uh? I also love it here, but my heart will always be with my family in Chile. I appreciate how much you value another culture and I’m glad that Chileans have been nice to you. Hope you and your family have a wonderful time in Chile!
Carolina Romero hey kind of did the opposite of us! I’m so happy that you like it there and happy I can share Chile with you while living in the states! Enjoy and thanks for following!!!
Jon Gross Sure! One thing I really miss from my country is the food! Hallullas, marraqueta, pastel de choclo, empanadas.... yummy! Hope you enjoy this time in Chile... What do you miss about US?

Gracias Jon.
My son born here but we tooked him to chile for 5 years and now he speaks Spanish and English pretty well 👏👍🇺🇸love you Jon❤God bless you and your family always.
Jon! It was an awesome video! I’m a Chilean who immigrated to the U.S when I was eleven years old. Nine years later, I’m still learning English. I feel like I’ll never stop learning it. Speaking is my weakness, and I still have a thick accent. But you know what, we will get better if we actually use our second language frequently. I’ll repeat myself until people understand what I’m saying. Keep the hard work! Un abrazo desde Buffalo, NY.
I think my favourite moment in all of your videos comes at the 6:39 marker. Diversity is lacking here and some people can't see the strenght in it. And I say that as an immigrant with dark skin, living in Chile for 25 years already. I'm so glad it's an issue most people I've talked with agree with the integration vision rather than segregation.
Samuel Ramphall I know man! I’m so sick of segregation especially coming from the states. Whatever can be done to change that mentality of segregation I’m all in for sharing. So so sick of it!
@@JonGrossGringo Don't forget we humans are animals - just that we are capable of contemplating future consequences. We are biologically set up to recognize patterns and faces... we have lived in tribes for millions of years... It is human nature to want to be with your own kind and there is nothing wrong with that. It is also human nature to want to have an identity and not be torn between multiple cultures and unable to identify where you "belong". Us millennials are just now realizing how we need to re-learn our "roots" as we multi-generational "north/south Americans" feel very disconnected to our "society" as our communities have disintegrated into strangers. Children are not racist, (racist implies there is hatred and malice for another or a feeling of superiority over another) they will gravitate toward others that look the same as themselves and desire to befriend them first. This is our human nature to want to belong to a group and fit in, don't fight it, just learn to accept it. It isn't anything evil. We self segregate, we rarely would EVER push others out, instead, we run to be with our own. Thus, white flight.
Hi John. You are giving your son the gift of open-mindedness, acceptance and tolerance by giving him the opportunity to live in another country so different to yours. He'll become a well-rounded individual with multiple skills to share with the world thanks to you and your lovely wife. Well done!

It’s actually really interesting cuz i feel like I’m learning while i hear about stuff I’m interested in.

Great video! such awesome takes😍 and I love Moses😍😍 thank you for sharing him with us! he is starting to talk😊 tan rico! de comérselo 😍you are absolutely right, he will have the best of world's free languages and fluent! I raised 3 kids and they are totally bilingual, almost no accent, they were not allowed to speak English at home and now they are thankful they can go to any Spanish-speaking country and feel totally comfortable. The key is to be consistent, always speak to them in one language and they'll always speak to you in that language. Good job!👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻💓
With English at school then I gained a 4th language. Many specialists talk about the topic on UA-cam and also many families show their experiences. Qué bien por tu hijo y mucho éxito!
its so beautiful watching how it is living in Chile through an inmigrant's eye. your view on this country feels so true and acertada. this is how people and nations grow: learning from eachother. congrats on your channel.
Hello John you made me cry , seeing Moses grow up so fast !!! Congrats for share your life with us take the time shows are country to thr rest of the world viva La Familia Gross 🤗😍
Hi Jon, great video. I love the way you show us our own country. Personally I live between Santiago and Chiloé island, so I travel every weekend to see my wife and my future daughter Emma. I would like to Emma learns english and spanish like Moses, practice is everything, so good luck to you and please stay in Chile definitly, God bless you and your family.
Moses is sooo cute! Thank you for this video! I speak 4 languages, but as you said it takes more time to learn as an adult. Even when the immersion, most adult will always have a light or a strong foreign accent when they speak. That doesn't happen when kids learn a second or a third language at a young age...most of them won't have a foreign accent, which is cool :-)
Hola Jon, Soy Chileno but I live in USA. Tus videos son muy buenos and fun to watch. I have a 2 yr old Daughter and She speaks en español and english. Your son will do too! Saber más idiomas es mejor y conocer people from different parts of the world te crea una conciencia con mayor tolerancia a diversidad de culturas y personas. Un saludo y chao pescao!
I think it's great that you love our country. The way you talk about diversity is quite friendly, so don't pay attention to the hate you might read in the comments. Just keep learning the language adding new expressions to your everyday chilean jargon. Good luck and keep up the good work.
You are gifting him empathy and two languages that will let him communicate with most of the world. He is very lucky and he will accomplish great things just with these things you are giving him ❤
Interesante saber varios idiomas. Dios te bendiga grandemente Jon.
Hi, I think the way you're exposing both languages to him is ideal. That's the same way I maintained Spanish. I speak Spanish at home and English outside. A lot of my cousins lost their Spanish because they speak English at home. I also went up to second grade in Chile, which I used as a foundation to learn how to read and write in English.
Hey Jon, I’m a Chilean in the States who just got a baby with a “gringo” and I can so relate with you, guys. Our daughter is exposed to my Spanish during the most part of the day and English when my partner is around or whenever we go out. We really hope she can manage both languages.
Podemos aprender muchas palabras, muchos idiomas y muchos acentos....
One of the BEST gifts u can give to ur children is the ability to learn different languages...it opens a bandoras box........i am on of those kids and i am so happy that i learnt 4
Que bueno que tu hijo aprenda 2 idiomas , y tu eres muy agradable ,simpático y tus bebes igual linda family .saludos desde Quillota Chile very good videos .
I was born in Chile, but then we moved to Texas so I was raised there. It’s amazing to be fluent in both languages. I will be forever grateful that my parents gave me that opportunity! Then we moved back to Chile, so my main language is Spanish and when I start speaking English it’s kinda hard because my tongue gets a little tangled haha but that’s the beauty of learning two languages when you’re little, it’s just a bit of practice and it all comes back to you
cute lil' child! my kids were born in Switzerland, and we always talked spanish with them, then at school they started learning german (formal speech in school) but immediately they also got acquainted with swiss, which is quite different from german. At first they used german as communication link with the outside world but gradually they moved to swiss which is their main language now, even as they have a quite good command of spanish and have little "gringo-accent"... and as Switzerland is a country with 4 official languages, we also have had the chance to learn a lot of french, italian and rumantsch, and this besides english and portuguese is now the mosaic of languages we are familiar with. I think this is VERY enriching and I cannot understand some people in the US that insist that the only proper thing would be to speak english... the US should be bilingual in english-spanish to a great extent, this would not be a liability by any means, on the contrary, a very BIG ASSET (see Canada)

Disfruta Chile.
It'll come a time where, assuming you stay longer in Chile, you'll talk to Moses in English and he will reply in Spanish, and neither of you would realize you're having a fluent conversation in two different languages. That's really fun.
already happening ua-cam.com/video/ct_31K8npXY/v-deo.html
Jon "where is the triangle?"
I did the opposite of what you do in Chile, I am spanish and my daughter was born here in Canada, so she learned the English outside home and at home spanish, She’s bilingual also!!
Vero Car that’s crazy! Love it!
Gracias Jon.
My son born here but we tooked him to chile for 5 years and now he speaks Spanish and English pretty well 👏👍🇺🇸love you Jon❤God bless you and your family always.
Lovely little boy. He’s at a wonderful age where his brain absorbs language and knowledge like a sponge.
Well done!
I know it comes late, but... welcome to Chile and congrats having a baby, it is amazing !! I'm from Valparaiso and now I live in Spain, I lived for quite a while in USA, and because of it I speak English with my kids
this is such a positive channel, the first bit montage was soooo well put and beautiful, then the energy of you and your family is really lifting! Thank you for sharing
Hey, Chilean living in Seattle. Thanks for your videos, I have a similar situation with my kids (Spanish at home and English outside). I love the way you speak about my country. Good luck with all your adventures.
I’m just loving watching your videos. I’m chilean and they help me a lot with my English, specially with my listening.
It’s actually really interesting cuz i feel like I’m learning while i hear about stuff I’m interested in.
I would like to have the experience of living in other places and also can speak different languages at home.
Also, i have to add that i love the way you talk about chile and your life here.
Thank u for making this amazing videos!!
It's lovely watching your little one growing up. When people ask me what I loved most about the U,S., I always answer with "diversity". I moved a lot growing up and always found something new to learn from someone different than me. I celebrate diversity.
Kist Myst that’s really great! I love that you had a good experience with diversity in the states! Thanks for commenting and saying that!
It's beautiful to see Moses grow through your vídeos.
dude... I gotta say... I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL.... i mean... I just came across it today.... first video i caught.... THE COMPLETOS VS HOTDOGS.... and i was totally hooked!!!... i am an english teacher here in Copiapó, and I've always been fascinated with how easily little children can pick up languages when growing up in a different culture.... also.. let me tell you that i suggested a student of mine to check on your video as a great listening exercise!!!! way to go Jon... you got a lovely family!!!!!

Hello Jon Always is a pleasure to watch your videos. Moses precious little boy 👦! So glad that Moses speaks two languages. Thank you for sharing with us all this wonderful times with your family. Sending you guys hugs and blessings. 🤗🤗🙏🏻
I love your videos because mu country is beautiful. Thank you for watching amaxing landscapes bye
roxana maria sandoval bravo thank you!!!!
Es adorable cuando trata de hablar!! Muchos cariños para ustedes guys!
I would have loved to have spoken two languages like a native like Moses will!! now learning a language is not impossible but so hard. Good for him.
Wow man...amazing to see you so happy with your family. I was borned in kentucky Fort Knox ....and my parents are from Chile. I understand exactly what the experience you are living. Thanks for such a nice touch of reality. Greetings to your family👍
Hey Jon,
As a Chileno living in Australia I’m always checking your videos and impressed by my birth country’s beauty and diversity. Your videos are interesting and your editing of the b-rolls are great! So thankful for your videos and for story telling. Keep up the great work!! Blessings to you and your family. Muchas gracias Jon.
Jorge
Maria Angelica Rivadeneira absolutely 100% about the consistency!!!! Moses is so lucky to get two languages so easily!!!
I really love your videos!!! They’re full of love, joy and happiness!! Saludos desde Santiago!!!!
El tio jon es la cumbia ^^
María E thank you! That’s the idea for sure! :)
Jon Gross omg! Thanks for the answer! Saludos!!
With English at school then I gained a 4th language. Many specialists talk about the topic on UA-cam and also many families show their experiences.
You like my country...I love and like your country...U.S.A..I feel very fortunate to live here for more than 40 years...
its so beautiful watching how it is living in Chile through an inmigrant's eye. your view on this country feels so true and acertada. this is how people and nations grow: learning from eachother. congrats on your channel.
I like your thinking and love for diversity.
What a nice baby! 😊 it’s so cool that he is leaning both languages at the same time!
Hola Jon, Soy Chileno but I live in USA. Tus videos son muy buenos and fun to watch. I have a 2 yr old Daughter and She speaks en español and english. Your son will do too! Saber más idiomas es mejor y conocer people from different parts of the world te crea una conciencia con mayor tolerancia a diversidad de culturas y personas.
muchas gracias!
You guys are amazing filmmakers. The drone scenes and editing. I enjoy your story.
I think it's great that you love our country. The way you talk about diversity is quite friendly, so don't pay attention to the hate you might read in the comments. Just keep learning the language adding new expressions to your everyday chilean jargon. Good luck and keep up the good work.
Nicole Aravena muchas gracias!
You are gifting him empathy and two languages that will let him communicate with most of the world. He is very lucky and he will accomplish great things just with these things you are giving him ❤
claudio bravo muchas gracias!
Que hermoso está su hijo, bendiciones
Saludos Jon , para ti , tu hermoso hijo y familia. Abrazos desde Suecia!
carlos madrid saludos!
John. I Love the video! thank you for sharing your life with us.
Bien x Moises.
HERMOSOOOOO DIOS LOS BENDIGA COMO FAMILIA ♡
Que bueno que tu hijo aprenda 2 idiomas , y tu eres muy agradable ,simpático y tus bebes igual linda family .saludos desde Quillota Chile very good videos .
I was born in Chile, but then we moved to Texas so I was raised there. It’s amazing to be fluent in both languages. I will be forever grateful that my parents gave me that opportunity! Then we moved back to Chile, so my main language is Spanish and when I start speaking English it’s kinda hard because my tongue gets a little tangled haha but that’s the beauty of learning two languages when you’re little, it’s just a bit of practice and it all comes back to you
Victoria Neira that’s awesome! Thanks for writing and explaining for us!
Hello Sir, I love your video. Thank you for sharing. My family plan to move to Chile sometime. Now we live in Texas.
Hi Jon, just saw two of your videos (this one and the Berlin contest) and I'm sharing them with friends and family.
Moses is going to sala cuna, omg he is growing fast!! and he is so cute, and of course will be bilingue.
cute lil' child! my kids were born in Switzerland, and we always talked spanish with them, then at school they started learning german (formal speech in school) but immediately they also got acquainted with swiss, which is quite different from german.
Grande Tío Jon!! 🤗🤗🤗
HERMOSO BEBE CHICOS....QUE FELICIDAD.....DISFRUTEN Y SEAN MUY FELICES AMIGOS🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
