    Little tip Mark. I use Hydraulic hose to connect my hose reel and compressor to my air lines. Never have a blow up lasts forever. Cheap online or at tractor supply with NTP connections on each end. FYI I use a shrinking hammer and shrinking dolly ALL THE TIME....can hammer right on the dolly without shrinkage. Dolly is rubber coated. Everybody has different ways to do this stuff. been doing Body and paint as more of a hobby at this point for 40 plus years.

      Shrinking hammers are dangerous in a newbies hands and get over used. The texture and crack instance is to great for me. I am glad you have mastered them and they work well for you though. Using PVC like I do I have to make sure my soft lines are very flexible or it can fatigue the fittings but you are right 2 wire hydraulic line works great for that purpose.

    Thanks Mark! I think I'm about two thirds of the way to having most of the tools you have. I'll pick up more as needed. Having the right tools definitely makes life easier!

      Yes they do but using them correctly is the key. Keep a light hand as you can always tap a little more and then some more but going to far just adds work and frustration.

      I don't know frankly. I really want to build a 1970 Firebird 400 but haven't found a project car yet. Also if I go broke building Ruby I might have to take on a job or two 😜

    Thanks a lot Mark. I’ve been able to collect almost everything you mentioned in this video at yard sales etc.
    I do have an issue with my compressor based on your info. Bought a DeVilbiss compressor from a buddy years ago. A fantastic machine at a great price. But it is NOT oil free. Can I put a system together that will trap that oil, or am I sunk? Thanks again for all your help!!

      I should have been more clear in the video that you do not need an oiless compressor to paint it just makes it better set up when painting as that is one more thing that cannot cause a problem. Your compressor will be fine as long as the rings are not worn out. If they are you will know by holding a rag up to the air stream on full blast (open hose) and let it flow for several minutes until the tank is exhausted. Then hang the rag up to dry to let the water moisture evaporate and see if there is any oily residue left behind. A small amount is not an issue but if you get a significant amount you will need to install a water/oil separator which isn't a bad idea anyways. One caveat. Make sure it is a large unit as the small ones reduce air flow volume to much. At least a 1/2" pipe inlet/outlet. Here are a couple of links.

      I’m planning on using a “single stage” paint. I’ll use the same epoxy primer you’re using, but I think the base coat/clear coat system is too glossy for the look I want. Of course I’d value your opinion on that choice.

      @@robertmazzei2412 Satin or semi gloss top coats aren't my thing but I will ask my buddy at the paint store next time I am in there.

      Thanks Mark. I’m not considering satin or semi gloss, just the original enamel style paint. I guess it’s not as shiny as the clear coat system (but maybe they are!). Still so many things to learn. Really appreciate your insights.

      @@robertmazzei2412 Single stage paints can be just as shiny as clear, just not as deep. What color are you thinking? If it is a solid color single stage is fine, metallic or modern color base coat clear coat should be used.
