Brava to you for thrifting! I used to shop at Goodwill, too, until a couple of years ago when I discovered the Big Cheeses at GW make somewhere between $200 thousand and 1 million dollars per year (depending on what internet search you do). I also found out that employees with disabilities are often paid less than minimum wage (as low as 22 cents per hour), whistleblowers have been fired, and safety issues have led to tragedy. Now my fave thrift store is The Humane Society Thrift Store, also the fave of all our town which voted it the Best Thrift Store - even against GW! We also have thrift stores for hospice, Teen Challenge, and other local charities. I try to be even more ethical about where the little money I spend goes these days.
@rachellee.9389 You're not wrong, Rachelle. The "big box store" thrift store CEO's are raking in. Full on corporate greed. I have a love/hate relationship with GW. I do love the little thrift stores that are truly non-profit and actually help people in need. Thank you so much for watching ☺️
You said it!!! I have been thrifting since I was a teen,I’m 57 now, and still Love thrifting!! You could even say I thrifted my husband 🤣I met him in Goodwill when we were both shopping for Halloween costumes 🥰Goodwill used to be great. Through the years we have furnished our homes, clothed our family, and bought most Christmas and birthday gifts from thrift stores. We ,as well as all our family and friends no longer shop at or donate to Goodwill. We instead give all our business to mission based and Mom and Pop thrift stores. We will always be thrifters. You find better quality, and way more unique items. We also love to find amazing things that may need a little repair or we up cycle things to be used in a surprising new way. I hope enough people cross Goodwill off their list and that it causes enough of an impact to bring about the kind of change that needs to happen. I know it’s probably just wishful thinking but here’s wishing 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
@lesliespradley8897 You are spot on, Leslie. I love the little mom and pops and true non-profit thrift stores. I love their mission and what they stand for. I do not consider GW a thrift store. In my opinion, they are resellers.. The difference is that they are generally clueless on the actual value of donated items. They simply can't stand the thought of a reseller purchasing from their store and turning it for profit. My particular GW sends anything with a perceived value of $30 and over to their online marketplace. The hunt is a little tougher at my store. I just love the fact that you thrifted your husband. Hilarious! Love it! I married my high school sweetheart. He's vintage...
@@lesliespradley8897 Leslie, we CAN make a difference, not just wishful thinking. I make it a point to inform all GW shoppers here on YT about the real GW and I hope you will, too. There are enough of us out there who want to spend our money ethically, not just save a buck or two.
@@lifeoflonny haha! My husband says, “we’re not old we’re vintage “ I’m sure he read it on a tee shirt or sign somewhere, but it makes me laugh and is is sooo true. Regarding the GW website, I could not believe when they started that. GW should not be allowed to even call themselves a thrift store, they are not even a discount store, beacause so much of what is left in the GW store is retail price or broken or cheap junk. At least discount centers are selling quality items that have been floor models, returned or have open box or might be scratched or dinged at an awesome discount. Ex. We bought a brand name very expensive new Washer Dryer set for 1/4 the original cost . They both had a 6-8 inch deep scratch but no dents. The way our laundry room is set up the units sit nestled together scratch to scratch. They are not even visible and they gave us another $200 off because they had been floor models and did not have any boxes or packaging. Our GW was selling an 8 year old smaller same brand set that literally looked like someone had hit them a few times with a hammer. There was rust spots on the outside of both and in the washer and they both smelled bad and they were asking a little over twice what we paid for never used brand new ones🤯 I should add that not all GW are as bad as where I live ,California, I know that some GW in different states have decent prices and better quality. There is an amazing one in Pennsylvania, brother lives there, and they bring out 20-30 new carts a day because their prices and quality are good and the turn over is fast. That is how it should be. Also this store does not send anything to web site. If items are still on shelf after a certain number of days they discount it to $1 . Now that’s the right way to do things. 🤔It would be interesting to find out if it is one of GW more profitable stores .Sorry for the rant🙄😬😂

@barbcairns2408 I was tempted, Barb! It really would've made a beautiful riser. Thank you so much for watching ☺️
Amazing finds!
@@vickyspiers2835 Thank you, Vicky! It was a fun week thrifting. Thank you so much for watching ☺️
Loney I saw another one it was a brown or an almost black that glass with candles 🕯️ in glass case the first one in where you can’t go back it was to the left of it something flat was on top of it. Guess what my mother’s father made wood furniture and we had everything that he made. We have nothing from like ikea or Walmart or Target furniture wise. That penetton my dad got woven shirts from his in-laws as Christmas gifts and we still have them I believe the blue label background was from the 1980’s. It’s a race over to Savers to get that thing.
@sarahsvoboda8481 There is really nothing better than handmade wood furniture, Sarah. Especially made by family that become heirloom pieces. I'm sure the Pendleton blanket got snapped up pretty quickly. Thank you so much for watching ☺️

I always look in other peoples carts to see what they find that I didn’t. 😅I always seem to find junk.
@@hhholly I'm always afraid I missed something, Holly. 😁 Thank you so much for watching ☺️
Pendleton is worth a lot of $$$
@@tinamcelyea5972 They can be quite valuable. I was questioning the authenticity. That label was throwing me off a bit... I probably made a huge mistake leaving it. 😌 Thank you so much for watching ☺️
Lonny, how do you clean the inside of a purse?
@Kathywelch-xm3rd Hi Kathy! It depends on what kind of staining it has. But, typically, I spot clean with dawn dish soap and use rubbing alcohol on ink spots. Sometimes, I use Shout laundry stain remover as well. I hope this is helpful, but always test spot a small area first with any cleaner or detergent. Thank you so much for watching ☺️
@@lifeoflonny it’s not an expensive bag. I wondered about Dawn. I’ll try it! Thanks!
@@Kathywelch-xm3rd Of course! I hope it works...you'll have to let me know🥰
