Painting a REALISTIC Labrador DOG 🐕 with Pastels ▶ Hyper Realistic Pet Portrait by Patricia Otero

- This is how I paint a realistic Labrador Dog with yellow fur using the pastel technique. This portrait was a commission for a client from the UK 🇬🇧. She ordered an Artwork of her two beautiful Labrador dogs Paddy and Brig. The size of the portrait is 50x70cm and it’s made on Pastelmat Board using soft pastels, pastel sponges and pastel pencils.
(For those asking why I have the same clothes throughout the video, I use painting clothes, just like some people wear a uniform for work, I have my uniform for painting. It usually consists on an apron, black clothes and/or jeans.)

Very nice! What do you use for the reference photo? I just use a printout but wonder if having it on an iPad would be better.
I use my computer to look at the photo references I use ☺️ I’ve also used my phone at times. Paper is also good but I don’t live near a printer that can do a high quality print to be able to see all the details and colours correctly
What do you use to draw the outline on the paper?
Hello, I love your pictures and I am very happy about this video. But I have a question. They paint so meticulously and then prime large areas. Can you still see the preliminary drawing shimmering through?
Thank you very much! ☺️ depends on how many layers I add, sometimes I loose my initial lines and I have to improvise. Other times I can still see them if the layers are light enough.

Es hermoso :( perdí a mi perro hace poco y quiero hacerle un retrato yo misma de él. Por eso quería consultarte, estos son pasteles tipo tiza? porque sé que existen tipo pastel oil de cera. En cuyo caso, serviría utilizar esta técnica con ambos o es mejor uno de los dos? yo tengo oil pastels, pero estos parecen más de tiza. Tampoco sé mucho de tipo de papel a utilizar y te agradecería si me dijeras porque mi único objetivo es conmemorar a mi perro con algo que yo haya hecho y quiero que quede bien :(
