If you already have one of these types of filters, do feel comfort in using the products shown. I do want to caution not to place additional fine filtration ahead of an existing one as this can cause the fuel pump to cavitation or vapor lock, even more so on fuel injection engines. New winter grade fuel now boils easier and can be more problematic when summer comes. Inboard gasoline marine engines have to overcome the restriction of the anti siphon valve at the top of the tank. I have found the fuel dispensed at some harbors filled with all kinds of debris. To protect your pump as well as the anti siphon valve I highly recommend an Aeromotive model 12319 This is a canister filter with a cleanable pleated stainless 100 micron mesh filter with enormous surface area and virtually no restriction or service needed for years. Remove the anti siphon valve from the tank and re-install the fuel shut off valve. Use stainless fittings at the tank connections. The new arrangement is: fuel tank, shut off, new filter, anti siphon, engine’s original pump or filter supply.!The important thing here is that the new filter AND anti siphon valve must be above the top of the fuel tank as well as close to the tank. This would be a good time to replace the fuel lines with the newer Coast Guard approved ethanol resistant type. Use Permatex sealant approved for fuel on fittings, not Teflon tape. Use new stainless hose clamps and recheck for tightness in a week. Always pre fill all the filters/housings with fresh fuel to limit the time the fuel pump run dry. If you have a mechanical fuel pump and it had been working fine up till recently, just replace it with the factory mechanical marine type. Most are excellent and can pull very hard for many years. Converting to electric involves safety concerns and in 99% of the time is more trouble than is worth. Happy safe boating🛥
