Great video Tobin. I will think about getting that Knot and put it in my Timeless adjustable handle. I also noticed that there are more knots there than the last time I looked at the site. Have a great week. 👍
I'm a Star Wars snerd, so love your Bobba Fett mug. I just got the RazoRock Monster with plissoft knot. Think it's 30mm . Plus a Somouge Horse hair. Horse hair is scritcheier than my Omega boars. But hopefully get better as it breaks in.
@Tobins_throwbacks no, the horsehair is in a green painted wood handle. Don't know what they call it. Got it to try because it's horse hair. Just to try it. So far I think may become my favorite brush.
Nice brush. It does look like a badger. Love scratch and dents purchase. I personally never had an issue with it. My timeless razor with stand was from scratch and dent it look flawless to my eyes.
Totally impressed with the brush, 3 shaves now and I'm glad I pulled the trigger. The Timeless bowl I bought from their scratch and dent and it's virtually flawless other than a TEENY TINY scuff in the bottom of the bowl. Have a great holiday weekend Manny!
Man I should have grabbed this knot for my new sawdust handle that is waiting for a knot. I ordered another G5C so Ill be happy anyway. Great first impression video sir!
Nice one Tobin! I do like the look of the knot and AP Shave Co carries some of my favorite knots. Granted, I like the older style ones he has like the Cashmere, Sinbad, Smoke. I could probably go up a little with backbone, but nothing close to the ones Pete has. This one does make me curious because it looks similar to PAA in splay. Well, I guess we'll see soon. Take care and hopefully you get your power back soon!
Thanks Ian! I'm super happy with this knot! 3 shaves in and I already want a 24mm in a nicer handle lol. I agree the old ones are still great! Have a great holiday weekend brother!
Ordered a handle and a brush waiting impatiently on it😂. Got the G5a knot for the handle. I ordered another handle from Andrew and for the 2nd handle got the g8 max backbone knot from Pete Hendrix for that handle.
24mm would have easier flow that a 28mm just based on mass alone that is true. I bought this one first because the Black handle was only available in a 28mm/30mm option and after reading the sales page I wanted to see if we could push the limits with this knot. I'll definitely be buying a 24mm in the future. I've shaved with the knot 3 times now and LOVE it!
You displayed a "Summary" at about one min twenty seven sec but the last line is partly blocked by the video's UA-cam tool buttons. What does it say? "... allows you to custom...?...?...." OhOhOhOkay, "customize loft more".
Morning Mark! I have been enjoying your content for years! Glad this video was helpful! I used the Pure Bliss in a video and I need to record my Brush Review of it. Have a great Saturday 👍
I think it should be available on apshaveco within a couple of weeks. Andrew said the new plant-based STF knot would be in these sizes: 23mm STF L / 23mm STF L 20% more density 25mm STF XL / 25mm STF XL 20% more density
Hello Tobin, one question: What do you think about the Silksmoke 28mm from ApShave combined with the blue frost handle from Scratch & Dent? Does it have good backbone and natural splay? Is it similar with a tuxedo knot?
Hey! So, I think the combination of handle and knot would look good. With regards to performance. And using the scale that I've used in my Brush Review Series. I'd give the Backbone like a 4 or 5. So right around average. It doesn't have a lot of Backbone but it also isn't floppy. Kind of a Goldilocks when it comes to Backbone. The Splay I'd put around a 6.5 to 7. Splays easily, similar to a silvertip. What other synthetic knots do you have? Or other knots from Ap? Might be able to give you a reference that way.
@@Tobins_throwbacksthanks for the details! ! I don't own any other brush from ApShave, but I have 20 synthetics, most of them are from Yaqi (China). From them I like better the Tuxedos (24mm & 26mm) and also the Timberwolf knot (26mm). I also have a Simpsons Trafalgar T3, which I like very much and an Omega Evo 1st generation (great backbone and splay, I was lucky!) Does the loft setting from Andrew, determine the backbone ? I think I will leave it on him (the knot setting in mm)
@T-R.e.x Yes, absolutely the loft can be adjusted by setting the knot deeper. I'd say ask him to set it around 18mm deep. I think his standard is 15mm. Andrew usually responds to emails within a day or so. Judging by the knots your mentioned I think you'll be super happy with the Ap knot. Have you seen his "shave ed" page? Just in case you haven't I'll link you to it in the next comment. It's a great resource and brilliant of Andrew to create it.
@@Tobins_throwbacks wow man, you are the king of brushes. From now on, anything I want to ask I will return to your great channel. A brush for me, is even more important than the razor itself, because it's responsible for building a great lather. I use almost exclusively artisan, thirsty soaps, so I need the brush to have good flow through, release & backbone and splay to build the lather. This link you sent me is absolutely amazing. Thanks Many said that Silksmoke doesn't open at all, some others said that it's scrubby. I think of it more like a knot between Tuxedo & Synbad if I'm not wrong. I also wanted something cheap, so I chose the Scratch & dent handle with a 28mm Bulb Silksmoke. I hope I enjoy it 👍 Many thanks again!!
@@Tobins_throwbacks Thank you. It will be something to rotate with my G5C, a natural knot. The hair is two band badger called the unsullied - Nature in 27mm bulb knot. Keep up all your amazing videos in wet shaving, all yoyr rants and raves!, your brush reviews.
A six dollar handle on which you cannot detect the scratch sounds like an absolute steal to me. Well played, Tobin.
Man that CK6 is a lather beast! Great tip on the scratch and dent
I love this soap Base! And thanks!
Great deal. Enjoy!
Thanks, have a great holiday weekend Patrick!
Nice first impressions. Scratch and dents are usually great deals. Nice soaker mug and shirt. Looks like a good knot. Have a great week
Thanks Mike! One of my favorite Star Wars shirts. Emily and Alexis are always spoiling me with Star Wars gear.
Hope you have a great holiday weekend
Nice looking knot, that sounds like one I would like to try, I love AP shave co synthetic knots.👍🤠👍

Hey Cedric! Thanks, brother! I plan to record at least one between now and Sunday night. My goal is two🙏
I always look forward to your brush videos, thanks Tobin
Glad you like them! Thank you!
Just ordered one
I'm looking forward to shaving with mine tonight, which handle did you go with?
I went with the Ivory purple handle and 24mm knot
Looking forward to your final opinion as to the Pure Bliss knot. I am waiting till I hear your opinion
Uh huh...paid the bill😊😉🤔🤗

Exactly 😊
Buying one and a Muhle STF. Thanks Tobin!
You won't regret the STF. Teutonic magic.

Wanted to let you know I watched this video a couple of weeks ago and I bought the brush great review man keep up the great content
Awesome! Thank you!
I am a little surprised you bought a 28 mm knot. In the past you said that 24 mm have the best flow through. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I imagine it was because of the handle but I'm only guessing. He went "cheapskate".😊
You can buy a 24 mm “scratch and dent” handle.

Your wife is a Saint. If I had as many shave brushes as you, my wife would divorce me. 😂
I own 2 brushes: Yaqi 26 mm Rainbow 🌈 & 26 mm G5C from AP Shave Co.
I most certainly hope that you obtained concent before sticking it inside Bobafet!😂😂😂
