I understand completely how you feel. I garden because it helped me though my grief, depression and continues to help me with anxiety. When my front yard was destroyed last year by a gopher, I completely shut down. I cried. I couldn’t even look at it or do my fall clean up in the garden. My poor husband saw how broken hearted I was and he went out there and did his best because i physically and emotionally could not even bear to go out there. Every time I tried, all I could think about was how my yard was destroyed, how much time and money I spent and the fact that I would not see the beauty of my garden come spring. I’m glad you are in a better space and that you are finding peace with planting another garden bed. ❤
I’d be devastated too. My other half broke a branch on my limelight standard while mowing. It snapped and weeped. I was so mad over this one branch. You don’t have to explain to us hydrangea enthusiasts. Love all the new content.
Hearing this puts a lump in my throat. I grew up always wanting to have a garden and when I purchased my first home it was a ugly little brick house and I had my babies back to back. I do think starting to garden saved me. my favorite plant/flower has always been hydrangeas!!!! And that’s how I always came back to your page because I associate you and hydrangeas. Like I was mesmerized by what you did and what you could do and all the work you put in and your small babies all that. so I understand I feel for you girl I’m getting emotional because after so much money invested. So much you didn’t spend on yourself so you could save and buy a plant and it bring you so much satisfaction. And for someone to do that. I understand it wasn’t done to deliberately hurt you but it’s really so much more then a space …. I can’t explain and like you said some of those were rare and they don’t sell them anymore. Hydrangeas are extremely pricey. I’m sorry for your loss girl because that’s what it was . I feel you. I knew something wasn’t right you went MIA. Can we get a go fund me page up asap? We need those hydrangeas. That’s your trade mark 😓
Call it like it is ANGRY! It’s going to take time 🙏🏽 you already have a plan ……fencing. You’re so passionate about your landscaping some people will never get it,it’s NOT FOR THEM. PRAY for true CLOSURE keep enjoying your passion. When my spirit is off I won’t work in my garden, until I’m in my good space. Closure with a plan🙏🏽You’re doing the right thing KEEP IT MOVING! Proud of you…Adulting😃 THANK YOU! For sharing🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
I must tell you that you are the reason that I began to plant hydrangeas. I rescued them from Lowes and nursed them to health. They bloomed this year and I'm so proud of them. I'm sorry for the loss of your beauties, I can definitely sympathize with you. The heucheras are beautiful.
It is impossible to overreact when something that traumatic happens to your garden. I’m so very sorry that happened to Hydrangea Lane. 😢 You’re 100% right…good fences make good neighbors. 💖👍🏾 I know your green thumb will cause your beautiful lane to return better than ever. 💚 Hugs 🤗
It's so nice to see you back in your safe place. You have given me so many ideas over the last 3 years. I started my gardens during the pandemic. Started off with just dirt and didn't think I could get anything to grow. I had plenty of mature tress, hostas, and two azaleas in the yard but nothing else. Three years later and I'm so proud of what I have accomplished. I was so intimidated getting started; however, you gave me the confidence to at least try. Plus you're technically up the street from me. I'm in DC so were in the same zone. (Had no idea of zones before I started watching your channel) 😂. You continue to give me inspiration ✨️, thank you for being so transparent about gardening. My yards are absolutely my safe and peaceful place in this crazy world we live in. Continue to be great in all you do. 👏🏾👏🏾.
You are dealing with it well now. Slow and steady progress is very healing. For myself, I would imagine that the tree fell in a windstorm. That leaves the disappointment, not the anger.
You have so much energy. I have new nieghbors and they feel it’s okay to park THIER cars and block my walkway. We’ve had words and they continue to do it. It’s so maddening !!! It’s like they don’t appreciate the tranquil neighborhood they moved into. Just dumb and we’re stuck I guess.
I totally understand your feelings. I lost my beautiful yard - all the flower beds & outside stone patio (4400 pounds of stone we did ourselves). Hurricane Katrina killed my yard saltwater came over our yard. Finally years later I moved & now getting back into yard work just now. Now where we live it will never flood.
I’m so sorry that happened to your garden. It’s breaking my heart to hear about what happened to your safe space. I see my garden as ministry as well. I can spend hours in my garden. I’m so happy to see that you’re back in your garden and restoring it. The colors are absolutely gorgeous! I have shared your channel with my friend who gardens in Japan. Stay blessed always. What I love about you is your ability to process things. You are far more mature you give yourself credit for. I love your candor and your honesty! You are so talented and beautiful and I believe you will bring it back!! The greenhouse looks amazing! You and your husband are killing it!! Please let him know we see his talent and appreciate his talents!!
Sometimes we feel like a sad clearance plant, but we gotta give ourselves little extra love and we will bouce back. Your feelings are so vaild, I was in your shoes when my landlord came to talk about painting my house and then i saw him triming my plants that didnt need to be touched. He hacked down some of my trees and it was heartbreaking. He didnt even give me a second to grab a shovel and start moving them. I moved months later. I dug up every plant i planted. He thought i was going to leave him a beautiful garden. Glad to see you post! Its been a minute girl. ❤
That’s heartbreaking. I’m already trying to scramble to find a new place for a couple hydrangeas that I put in too hot of a spot last year, I can’t even imagine coming back to seeing all of yours wrecked like that.
Millennium or serendipity summer alliums would look good with their spiked leaf texture against the other plants, they also won’t grow too tall. I always enjoy your videos and seeing what project you will be taking on next, just wonderful.
Oh I feel your hurt about hydrangea alley. I think it's helpful to hear your gardening story as many of us have to deal with gardening challenges and outside forces like that. So happy to see you
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I understand your pain too. I lost a small greenhouse patio filled with succulents due to the extreme cold received in GA and it just crushed my spirit. It took some time for me to regroup and deal with the loss.
I'm so sorry about Hydrangea Lane. I started planting hydrangeas because of your videos. I had a similar situation with my heirloom roses and a neighbors fence. I think you have every right to be upset and sad. I went a little crazy. You have so much talent I know you will recreate the space into something wonderful.
Wow I’m so sorry that happened. I would be devastated also. I know you worked hard in that area and had the most beautiful hydrangeas I’ve ever seen. Keep your head high and forgive and move on. I know you can create even a better space and will be rewarded with happiness. You go girl👍😎❤️
I'm so sorry to hear what happened last year. =( I understand why you struggled so much and are still working through your emotions. Our gardens are therapy and a sanctuary for our hearts and souls. (((HUGS))) I can't wait to follow along with you this year and see all of the wonderful spaces you'll be creating and adding to.
Hello, Moya♥️. Only true gardeners would understand. Thank God for the ability to continually work the land. Your creative nature is amazing and I love those Cora bells. Living in zone 8a, mine thrive really well in containers. I only have one that came back in the ground and I’m keeping a watch on it. Thank you for the wonderful content. You are truly appreciated ♥️!
I'm so sorry and well done for working through it. People that don't put in the effort don't understand the hurt. But well done for being in a better place. Love all your videos
😢so sorry this happened to you and your beautiful plants. I feel your emotion about your garden being your sanctuary. sometimes it’s a process to move on over the hurt. ❤
I am so sad for you. I feel the same way about my garden and I would be so so so devastated as well. I hope that you are able to get back to where you can find happiness in the hydrangea lane ❤❤❤❤
I am so sorry for your hydrangea lane. It was so beautiful 😍 I totally understand why you felt hurt. Gardening was my way of dealing with caring for my mom while she was going through cancer treatments in the middle of covid. The garden is still a refuge for me. Can't wait to see your projects for this year.
I am so sorry to hear about your Hydrangeas. I can honestly say that your Hydrangeas were the most beautiful that I have watched grow on UA-cam! You have a special touch with Hydrangeas so I am confident that you will not only start a new area for your Hydrangeas but that it will turn out even better than what you have lost. You will find those rare Hydrangeas again! I have personally learned that people who are not serious gardeners can NEVER understand how personal our gardens are to us. I had a neighbor's kids that kept throwing their basketball and football into my yard and damaging my garden beds, breaking off plant stems, and killing my plants, running through my flower beds to get their balls. When I spoke to their parents, they said that these were "only" plants and their kids were just having fun. To make a long sad story short, I ended up having to call the police and the police went over and told them to stay off our property including their balls. This neighbor and my family no longer speak and totally ignore each other. They are just renting their house and my family will be happy when they one day decide to move to another home. They have since spread rumors to other neighbors that I am "crazy" because I make a big deal about plants. Well, I haven't had any more problems since calling the police. They would be shocked to know that some of those "just plants" cost me $40 each! You hang in there and I look forward to watching your new future Hydrangea row.
MOYA I am so sad for you, gardening is suppose to be good therapy, and not sadness. Communication is the key to peace. I was glad to see you perk up, it gave me joy and peace for you!!!! Its going to work out and we will see the joyful MOYA we all know!!!!!! The bed you are working on is going to be beautiful, I love the colors you chose!!!!!! Get your high from the things you have already done and let your imagination run wild and your energy will soar like it always does, you give me joy!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing, and love you 😘 ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I’ve mourned my garden as well. It gave me trust issues. We got a seriously crazy rain and frost day and all my plants 98% were in the most vulnerable place and died. I cried for days.
Oh my gosh, I can’t imagine the feeling you felt about your hydrangeas. 😢 I saw when you started building that area up and how much you felt joy. Love what your doing right now in your new area. It’s taking shape and looking beautiful. Stay strong 💪🏽 and well. ❤
So sorry that happened to you, you have friends that know your pain. No joke hydrangea lane inspired my own hydrangea island. If there's one thing I've learned about u Bestie is you always outdo YOURSELF. Excited to see whatever you plan because it will be amazing.
I felt everything you said in this video. No one will understand it but you, and you will heal in your own time. It’s a part of you and it is your baby. You’ve put in the time, care, and effort. It matters. Don’t ever let anyone tell you it doesn’t. Let me suggest knockout roses. They are beautiful and are joy to watch. They can also be size controlled. Good luck and go forward in strength. Welcome back! ❤
I'm soooo sorry for your loss. I can tell that it really hurt you. Hopefully time will heal. Just focus on what's ahead and try not to think about what's behind.
I love this video!!! Thank you so much for sharing this story. Might I suggest some pink bleeding hearts behind the coral bells?? The bright lime green foliage would make a great contrast, and the pink flowers compliment the dark coral bells well… also not too tall but a full grower. It looks like you get a bit more direct light than I do where I have mine growing, but maybe they could work? I love mine!! They make me so happy in the spring. ❤❤❤
I’m so sorry, you have every right to be hurt about your plants. I know how hard you worked on that garden space, it was beautiful. I hope you come up with a new plan for that space.
Oh my word, I totally get the crying. It's so nice to shop your own garden, things you already love too. Maybe hosta that doesn't get too tall would look nice in the back.?
I'm enjoying your progress. I understand your emotions concerning Hydrangea Lane, when I lose a plant it's like losing a bestfriend. That fence will definitely make a difference and whatever you decide to grow there will look amazing.
I’m hurt for you….. my garden is like therapy and brings me peace. When anyone messes with my garden, the lion in me comes out. Your hydrangea lane will become something amazing next year because that’s what we do. Plus your greenhouse area will make up some of what you lost. God bless
I absolutely love your videos and personality. The second a new video from you pops up, I click it. You inspired me to start posting about my garden. Thank you for taking the time to post your garden, I absolutely love your gardening style. 💚💚💚💚💚💚 Side note: I’m still upset for you about your hydrangeas. I would be raging as well.
Sad that happened with the hydrangeas…I’ve also learned the hard way never rely on something that’s not on your own property to provide something you or your plants need. I had a similar issue (my neighbor clear cut their entire arborvitae hedge down which was a privacy screen and shade block for our side) and we were looking right into their pool, and I had plants starting to burn, so I planted as big as I could get arb hedge on my own side so I have my own shade and privacy and I don’t have to worry about someone cutting it down!
Some people do not seem to understand the amount of work it takes to establish a certain amount of character and personality in a garden space. Us gardeners put our heart and soul into our work and that must be respected! Hello?? I love transplanting and dividing plants/// FREE FREE and it builds continuity in the garden. That new bed looks fab Moya. Maybe put some Iris back there...they give a vertical accent and break up the mounding groundcovers but not so high to block the window. Good luck!
People ask me all the times, families and neighbors..asked me why I devoted so much times doing this..I tell them ..after God..this gives me peace and calms…I enjoy going this and it gives satisfaction
I do not believe it was the hydrangea was the issue. You may have been burned out. The hydrangea was the trigger of the reality. You work very hard. I do not know how you do it with work, family, and garden. You have to get it together. Trust me you will get them all back. Hydrangea always come back, you will be surprised. Keep doing your thi g and we will keep watching.
I shared a real garden hurt 2 years ago. I had to remake the 1st try because it was so emotional. I too stayed away from the problem Area. Glad you shared yours😢 We're going To be OK❤
Love the new arrangement. Love the honesty of what you experienced, bad mind people. If they mentioned it to you I agree they could have said they are taking it all down. They knew full well the plants would be affected and unfortunately you were away. I pray God blesses you to find all those rare plants again 👍🏾🌱
I understand completely your feelings. It was an still is a traumatic experience. I've watched all of your videos from the beginning when you set up hydrangea lane by the sweat of your brow. I would feel the SAME! You are owning your feelings and that is the first step towards recovery. You are West Indian as am I and my husband! We of caribbean descent are very passionate people and we hold strong feeling about what's right and what's wrong. I feel your pain but you are strong and a survivor. You've come to far to let go now. Hold on and God will see you through. One love! Much respect from a Trinidad and Jamaican household!
Moya, I know the feeling that you had about the tree. I have had neighbors like that. We ended up moving after he sprayed round-up on the Viginia Creeper that was on MY fence. He said it was poison ivy. Also killed the grass because he was spraying and could not control where it landed. We ended up putting up a privacy fence. EDIT: You are so right about the fence. They actually put a deck on that was high enough to look over the fence
I’m sorry you had to go through that. Our neighbors moved in then claimed our tree caused their kids allergies. Wanted us to cut down a 150+ year old tree because it was a safety hazard- all up in my face (a man) then that SAME day let his kids play in my yard under the tree he said was unsafe 😂.
Ah I am so sorry to hear what happened, it csn be heartbreaking. You were obviously grieving and you were right to take the time to rage all the way to finding your inner peace. Thanks too for sharing such deep personal feelings as I think it will help people who will go thru similar because if you garden long enough you will lose a beloved plant(s). btw I absolutely love your channel and authenticity take care 😊
Feeling the pain and the anger here too 😠 😡 😤 …Glad you’ve turned things around and channelled your energy in making your garden beautiful and with screening panels or fence, you’ll get your garden back into shape in no time. 😊 have faith… keep us posted, we re on your side of the fence! How about three small hydrangeas in the corner by your summer house?
I'm just really glad you're posting videos again. Sorry about Hydrangea lane. It was so beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing how your garden looks this year.
To,the right of that new bed I see a metal fence. I’d def suggest a vine to climb up the wall/fence there. As for in front of the three windows what about some boxwood. I think there are some that stay small. Keep up the good work, I’m so pleased to see you’re back making videos.
So sorry you lost those hydrangeas ☹️ It's so hard to lose what you've put so much work into but I know you'll make a beautiful new space with what you've got PS: love how the pink and yellow tulips match the colors of the bench and obelisks!
Keep in mind that the neighbor might have been thinking he was helping you out since it was overgrown on your side a lot. What I've learned about people is most people have no care about plants so they probably did not know nothing about your plants needed shade. Do you mind me asking you what's the water sprayer you're using, the yellow and black one? . I love that angled spray pattern. It looks like it'll be easier to get under the plants instead of over the top.. you got me wanting some of that lambs ear.
Sorry to hear that. It just proves how different we are. I wish my neighbor would take down some trees. Most people don't understand the difference between shade and sun plants. Hope this year is better!
Yes. To all of that about the neighbor. And yes, to all of what the garden means. It's like destroying an artists' painting. But can we just talk about those coral bells! They are magnificent! The new bed looks beautiful.
I feel you girl! Don"t think you have overacted at all. Unfortunately we can't control what our neighbors do in their yard. Bad or good. The good in this is that you have a lot of property and can move it in another place.
Happy friyay to all my garden friends! Have a great weekend. To everyone else…. *side eye*
😅
😂😂😂😂😂
Did I win something? Not sure if that was you or a scam?
Thanks for being real. If you are not a gardener you just won’t understand. Glad you are in a better place.
I would call that Gardener's grief. New dreams will bring healing.
I understand completely how you feel. I garden because it helped me though my grief, depression and continues to help me with anxiety. Delphiniums. Delphiniums behind the corabells! 😊♥️
Love the delphinium idea.
Great progress! I cried so much when a storm took down a tree. Ruined my fence, pots, fountains. Other young trees. Ugh. I know the feeling.
I’m so sorry your hydrangea lane was ruined. I’m glad you were able to work through your pain. You are loved. Play in your happy place❤

I am so sorry! I am glad you are now up and ready to deal with the loss. When someone damages your garden it is devastating.

I’m glad that you and your neighbor are doing better. Your area looks great and zone 7 has been off of its meds! 😂
You handled the situation well.
This area gets about 5 hours of morning sun, then filtered shade once the tree above fully leaves out. Bleeding heart is a beautiful plant
You'll bring back the beauty. ❤🎉😊
I’m so sorry, you have every right to be hurt about your plants. I know how hard you worked on that garden space, it was beautiful. I hope you come up with a new plan for that space.
I am so sorry to hear about hydrangea lane. But remember something much more better will develop. You are amazing gardener an will come up on top!!!!
Oh my word, I totally get the crying. It's so nice to shop your own garden, things you already love too. Maybe hosta that doesn't get too tall would look nice in the back.?
Oh moya I’m soooo happy to see hydrangea lane 😍😍
It’s in the worst condition, but I’m going to address it this weekend. It was once an amazing side yard and will be again. Happy Friday ❤
I've missed your videos. I love your dedication to your garden and love your voice. Stay strong.
God bless
I feel your pain. Glad you're ready to get back to Hydrangea Lane.
Happy to see your video. Sad that neighbors can not be considerate at the least. I love hydrangea lane. Take care of yourself🙏🏽
I absolutely love your videos and personality. The second a new video from you pops up, I click it. You inspired me to start posting about my garden. Thank you for taking the time to post your garden, I absolutely love your gardening style. 💚💚💚💚💚💚
Side note: I’m still upset for you about your hydrangeas.
Gardening is a therapy and I love colors, textures and how things look together. Sorry you had to go through that. Take care and know that I care.
I feel for you, Moya! Sending a big garden hug!
I can barely keep my coral bells alive. How did you grow them so big. They’re gorgeous ❤
I’m sorry for your hydrangea lane I have learned so much about hydrangeas with you.
It's looking so good. I just love the vibrant colors that you picked. ❤
I am so sorry about your hydrangeas! People definitely don’t understand plant parents!
Had to add another comment..so many beautiful rooms in your garden..so fun!!
Midnight Sun Weigela, would look great behind the huechera, from Great Garden Plants.
Omg no, I can’t believe it and I feel your pain! I understand but I’m glad your doing better! You were missed for real!
With your talent for plants, the new fence will look amazing 😊
Sending you my best gardening wishes
God bless you in all your endeavors..You truly deserve it!!
Love your post. Been waiting awhile for you to post again. You need to plant yourself a big ole tree in that corner!
YOU WERE TRULY MISSED!! I'm happy you're doing better ❤
Your gardens are beautiful. I've enjoyed following you the last few years. You inspire me❤
Feeling the pain and the anger here too 😠 😡 😤 …Glad you’ve turned things around and channelled your energy in making your garden beautiful and with screening panels or fence, you’ll get your garden back into shape in no time.
Very sad what your neighbor did. That would suck for sure! But it’s good that you’ve moved on. Your yard is looking good!
Grief is a process, whatever you are grieving for. Xxx
An Oasis! Beautiful
