@Significantpower Jordan Weisman, one of the creators of Battletech, was one of the show's producers and FASA did all the computer animation or Enhanced Imaging footage. According to the show's sourcebook, the writers had to quite severely simplify the backstory to keep new viewers from getting confused.
Agreed. Though after watching the intro for MechWarrior 4: Vengeance, I think a few live action series would be appropriate. Sort of like in Star Trek. The first series released could be during the Clan invasion, then others could explore different key periods. The creation of FTL travel, the rise and fall of the Star League, the Succession Wars, etc.
It's a hell of a condensed version, but the novels rule too. I would like to see a more modern version of this cartoon to be made, there would be so many angles to view from and time periods to go through.
Yes. One of the other clans (probably Fire Mandrill) released a natural predator that hunted their totem animal almost to extinction. They changed their name to that of the predator. They later changed back to Sea Fox and realligned themselves with the Inner Sphere..
This error gets addressed in the 1st somerset strikers sourcebook. It claims that the "clans" on camelot may not be THE clans, but a means of organising the SLDF 12th(The "army" on Camelot while the rest of the SLDF assembled in New Samarkand) It is speculated in the report in the book that Nicolas used the same term his father did when he reorganised the SLDF
Woah, Clan Wolf is in this episode?? Most of the battletech episodes usually pitted Clan Jade Falcon as the antagonists. But...I couldnt tell whose who in the whole mechwarrior universe, I dunno who is the good guys or the bad guys here. However if I had to join a clan, I'd vote for Steel Vipers!
how nice to find a fellow clanmember on youtube ;D clan wolf since mw2 (yes. mw stands for mechwarrior, not for modic warcall or whatever it's called) :P
The machine guns will either constantly knock the mech over, or chew right through the armour. Usually both. If you want a rough idea about the mech, go to brickcommander dotcom click on the mechs, it's in the light mech part of the clans.
I'm glad they show another clan joining in, though the Elemental Trial of Possession was not the most graceful trial I've ever seen. Can anyone tell me who really becomes victorious out of JF/Wolf rivalry and which clans besides these two (and I think Ghost Bear was one) were in the first wave of the invasion?
@gribae Also remember the Steel Vipers shared the Jade Falcons invasion corridors. And Khan Pryde had nothing to do with the Jade Wolves. That was ended when Vladimir Ward challenged her predecessors to a Trial of Refusal. Actually I think it was Vandervahn Chistu in this series, that Vlad defeated to halt the absorption of the Wolves. Also it was Khan Phelan Ward that split the Wolves, not Pryde who'd yet to take power as a Khan at the time.
@KSXA2 Its a genetic surgery people go through to enhance their brains (though its fairly rare unlike what is shown in the series). It basiclly makes them ridiculously smart and have amazing reaction but after only a few years it starts to fry their brain and eventually turn them into vegetables.
Clan Sea Fox totemic animal was slayed by geneticaly enchanced sharks designed by Clan Snow Raven. And Foxes didnt allied themselves with the Inner Sphere they still folow the code of the clans and are living beatwin them as warrior-merchants. The clans that merged with IS are Clan Ghost Bear and traitourus Spirit Cats now known as Nova Cats.
Diamond Shark is better though. If you have mechcommander 2, try this tactic: Pick any mech. Fill with machine guns. Attack another enemy meck from behind. That's the tactic for the DS mech Pihrana. It can take out just about anything.
I'm fairly certain General Alexander Kerensky was bald (in fact he started losing his hair fairly early). Some of the recent stories on Battlecorps support this fact.
So did they even look at the source/books and novels when they wrote this? No wonder this show ended after 13 episodes. The Clans formed after the Exodus was finished.... when Kerensky died.
Probably just dramatic license to make them seem more alien, amusingly the Star Captain shouldn't be even piloting a mech, Redmond isn't a Falcon Bloodname which means she shouldn't be in one
Funny thing is they show a Mauler walking down the street in the history clip this show not 100% accurate to Battle tech the Mauler a newer mech design wasn't around during the Exodus.. Also Alexander didn't create the clans but some one already posted that..
You freebirth will never understand the importance of Trial of Position in the Clans!!! Trial of Position is a great honor in the clan to become a Mech Warrior!!!!
Lets see if we can get Netflix to start a new BATTLETECH series. XD
A new, modern, semi-realistic version of Battletech would make an awesome show. :)
@Significantpower

I remember when this episode came on TV. first episode I ever saw. didn't know what the hell was going on but this was my favorite episode.

Jade Falcon is a Crusader Clan and Wolf is a Warden Clan and Crusaders and Wardens don't get along well.

Ciro keeps on using contractions. Like a true Freebirth.

I wish they would make a new anime of battletech. I mean with the graphics, art, technology, and effects on anime it would look pretty good.
haha this ep is prolly the funniest. Valten and Patches and Frankie. Esp. Patches and Frankie has so much chemistry

17:00 is it just me or does any1 notice that Kerensky suddenly becomes Samuel L Jackson LOL i guess he took the Red Pill LOL

Kylie's line about Franklin ("Who died and made him Adam Steiner") sounds like foreshadowing when we later learn he's also a member of a royal family.
oh shit. wolf clan, jade falcon and strikers. thats gonna be one hell of a battle. too bad i can't come over with my beloved dire wolf.
Clan Sea Fox totemic animal was slayed by geneticaly enchanced sharks designed by Clan Snow Raven. The jokes in this aren't half bad, considering its a cartoon..."This Clan thing was your idea? I hope your happy..." hahaha
I'm fairly certain General Alexander Kerensky was bald (in fact he started losing his hair fairly early). Some of the recent stories on Battlecorps support this fact.
He figured out the password from the rosebud in the picture of Kerensky
Star Colonel is a very high Rank, the only Ranks Above it are Galaxy Commander, saaKhan, and Khan
Here have your busted up Junk Medium Mech, Axeman.... No thanks I'll think I'll stick to my more up to date and more Powerful Assault Mech, Awesome.
Clan Wolf some one is going to feel a hurting now
But the Tharkad Broadcast Company didn't know that.
So did they even look at the source/books and novels when they wrote this? No wonder this show ended after 13 episodes.
The Clans formed after the Exodus was finished.... when Kerensky died.
Wouldn't it be a bad idea to fire missiles inside a space station?
if i am right (witch im probably not) you can still pilot if you dont have a bloodname your rank will be quite limited tough
4:40 Safety dance! SAFETY DANCE!
@lorddraconum I guess Kerensky was a fan of Citizen Kane.
wasn't there a wardog battletech here?
Left leg takes 3 falling damage: Right leg takes 3 Falling damage: Pilot must make roll of 6 to stay concious, Rolls 4 Fail Pilot looses Conciousness.
does anybody know ware i can get the original book series?
Alexander didnt create the clans, it was his son Nicolas on Strana Mechty that did.
@gribae
Ah thanks for clearing that up for me.
totally not racist that whenever sakamoto is doing something sneaky oriental music plays...
Probably just dramatic license to make them seem more alien, amusingly the Star Captain shouldn't be even piloting a mech, Redmond isn't a Falcon Bloodname which means she shouldn't be in one
Rosebud... Rosebud!
I am disappoint at lack of dire wolves!
9:23 Elementals are not known for their sense of humor.
lol, but kind of brings up a point. After you seek to unite humanity, greed jealousy and strife tend to split human civilization all apart.
Honor the Warden way!!!
i liked the falcons, at least until Malvina took over.
17:00-17:01 Kerensky turned to Val in the vid screen. LOL
no the spirit cats are a spin off the nova cats live in the irece prefecture
@steelfist93
correct. regards clan wolf
hahaha, nice.
Funny thing is they show a Mauler walking down the street in the history clip this show not 100% accurate to Battle tech the Mauler a newer mech design wasn't around during the Exodus.. Also Alexander didn't create the clans but some one already posted that..

Trial of Position is a great honor in the clan to become a Mech Warrior!!!!
Clan wolf forever
Smoke Jaguar.
They did.
Clan Wolf 4tw
Trial of Position sounds like sex :3
They are Khans and saKhans. They lead, not fight.
lol the calnners dont have night vision on their mechs?.... and they think its ok fighting 2 soldiers with thwo mechs?... straaaange people
i do like the show but im getting a bit tired of there arsenal of background music..
yEAH WTF?
LOL eventhough i like Clan Wolf, but Dogfight with Jade Falcon while chasing the Star Characters is made theem look like bunch of Idiots.
clan wolf and ghost bears are the better of the clans
