  • Trying out a new format on the channel, where I just film myself exploring an instrument for 20 minutes or so, looking for sweet spots. Hopefully you'll find this interesting 🙃

    DFAM is my favourite techno machine... I love the way grooves just fall out of it. But it's a real pleasure to see Yan Cook apply his talent to it

      But without a rig you‘re done after a month. There‘s only so much it can do… if it had at least one lfo it already would be another story. You get extremly saturated and full sounding moog oscillatior for a small budget though

    I send clock to my DFAM from Squarp Pyramid and generate subtle noise elements to enhance back beats and snare voices from other drum machines. With this video you have inspired me to rethink my approach. Thanks for the upload.

    So much more to offer in any electronic genre I love it’s experimental use case as an evolving low frequency synth

    My favorite machine. Hook it up with a mother32 for its complimentary features, run them both as a single voice, add a digitakt for drums/samples/effects... get lost for hours.

    great video, can i ask you something? I have a dfam and I bought a MIDI to CV device, I would like to put it in my ableton session. I could control the tempo but I still can't control the trigger, can that be modified? thank u

    • @YanCook
      @YanCook  9 місяців тому

      Well, make sure Ableton sends MIDI data (track + sync) to your device and don't forget to arm the DFAM (red button).

    For smaller budgets, the EDGE by Behringer is just amazing, has Midi and USB support as well, and basically does the same things (but if you want the "og moog filter" I understand too)
    I have it as one of my first semi modulars, and it's just amazing fun to use, even with no experience.
    very inspiring stuff otherwise

      It's a real happy accident machine. Such a shame the moog doesn't have midi sync tho, especially for the price.

    Hey how are you syncing it to Ableton? I love DFAM, no midi is the only annoying thing, I use an SQ-1 which is not ideal

    • @Frisqo
      @Frisqo 9 місяців тому

      You can use a Korg Volca for the MIDI In/CV Trig Out connection

      My TR-8S sends clock via it's Trigger output.

    • @johnnyhawk
      @johnnyhawk 9 місяців тому

      I send a clock from ableton using CV clock out, I modded it to have a delay so the phase of the sync is perfectly in time with ableton

      good thing behringer added midi to their edge
