  • Geneva, SWITZERLAND - 1986 World Figure Skating Championships, Ladies' Long Program - Elizabeth Manley of Canada skated brilliantly to place 3rd in the Long Program. She would move up from 10th Place after the Short Program to finish in 5th Place overall.

    Except for the lack of any triple jump combinations, and the fact her final spin travelled across the ice, this was truly an excellent long program.

    Lovely compliments here for Liz from the commentators. She was amazing at the 86 St Ivel too. She was def a contender for the 87 worlds, shame she couldn’t pull it off but I guess that’s how Katarina pulled it off - nerves of steel

    So that’s very interesting that she landed the triple axle on her own if we can find someone on UA-cam so she must may have been the first person ever to land a triple axle but not in competition

    Thanks for posting this 3Axel1996. I haven't seen the CTV coverage of this program since back in 1986. Her best ever free skate in my opinion. If you have the Tracey Wainman LP from this event please post.
