+Nienke Bakker Correct. They didn't kiss in the movie. The "almost kiss" was just a joke when they were filming. All the actors are close friends.:) Hahaha
Thomas and Newt are not a couple. They were particularly close and had a special bond/friendship; especially in the Maze Runner book, though. They have an interesting, amazing dynamic with each other (and Minho). Newt is the type of person who observes all the Gladers, and notices their weaknesses and strengths, and how they can improve their situation, as well as how he can help them. He is one of the wisest of them all and kind. Newt is also the type who will quietly suffer from his own physical and emotional pain. A few of his main drives is to keep the group together, to help and protect them. He is liked and respected by all the Gladers. Newt was always looking out for, taking care of, encouraging, and almost always supporting Thomas, from the very beginning. Thomas could talk to, and show more of his vulnerbility with him. Thomas Brodie Sangster, (who plays Newt) said he thinks that Newt could recognize some of himself in Thomas,. He assisted in fostering Thomas' confidence and leadership qualities. And yet, Newt was wise enough, at times, to make Thomas pause, question his fears/feelings, and to see things realistically, or influence him to keep going/not give up.
Whereas, Thomas gave Newt more hope and purpose, and kind of awoke some things in himself that may have been dormant(In the movies and books). I haven't seen all the movies or read the whole series yet, but I have heard some things.
Sorry, this is SO LONG!! The Top Three (Thomas, Newt, and Minho) are awesome!! Newt is my very favorite though. Love their Bromance, not romance. Haha :D
