Another weakness is the engine, which u can see as drae wanted to crush the bus. Its just way underpowered wich makes it keep stalling. Even tho that was a problem with many of the early tanks
@@ducktant I also heard there where often problems with CO2. There are German military documents wich talk about tanks standing in the middle of the field, engine still running or still burning hot. "I keep stalling my engine for some reason" well the main problem with the mark IV tank was it was more powerful but less reliable so just a touch of realism
The 100th anniversary fell on Remembrance Day. US 'Veteran's Day' commemorates the US Armed Forces and the people who've served their country. Remembrance Day is a memorial day for those who lost their lives in the First World War. Although, these events are both on November 11th they aren't the same *thing*.
The original MK1-MKV Tank variants were famous for their mechanical issues, and were sealed horribly. One single grenade was a death sentence to those tanks. A bus stopping one of these would not be surprising, as these tanks did not last.
@Antoine Gauthier Despite the time they were given, they did not have enough time to produce vehicles for war. The end result were poorly tested, and poorly made vehicles. At the time they were revolutionary, but the MK1 to MKV tanks were death traps the moment any grenade fell inside, or any artillery were pointed their way.
Actually the mark iv and v tanks were much less susceptible to these mechanical problems and had much better armour. Grenades were not such a big problem unless the enemy had the german "geballte ladung" which were improvised at grenades and they wouldn't have too much close combat with infantry as the british infantry would support them
I mean in the beta and alpha and even now, when I drive on the mug, my tracks started to become wobely and I got launched in the air and the texture brock so you had this giant ass tank in the sky.
My military buff breaking out here. The MK IV was the second british tank to see service in WW1 as the MK II and MK III were used for training. The MK IV featured better armour and shorter gun barrels to decrease the chance of the guns being bent or clogged with mud when crossing trenches. The first tank vs tank battle took place in 1917 where 3 MK IV's ( 2 females and 1 male) fought against a single German A7V which was damaged and withdrew. The last use of a MK IV was in 1940 when one was reqeustioned from training use by the home guard to defend against German invasion. It was withdrawn after crushing several cars and still survives in the Tank museum.
Actually the MK IV is in commeration of Remembrance day, for soldiers of the Commonwealth serving in WWI. The poppy and red and white stripes (St George cross) are indicative of this. Remembrance day and Veterans day are the same day, but commemorate different things.
Real life mud was one weakness for the Mark IV's. Other than that, that bus would've been a dam pancake irl going over pretty much any vehicle. Also, they were 26 feet long and some inches with like 11 feet to 13 wide or something like that and 8 to 10 feet tall.
The Mark I tank was designed as a landship, used to crush barbed wire and cross trenches while providing a mobile weapons platform, two versions of the Mark I were made, a male and female, the female version with 5 machine guns or "emma gees" and the mail with 3 machine guns and 2 main 6 pounders.
There's also Mark tanks of different variants (including the I) that were converted to radio transmitters to communicate with aircraft. Though the tanks needed to stop completely so they can raise the mast of the radio antenna. It looked quite literally like a landship too. Tanks after the Mark I through Mark V series of tanks were converted to supply and troop carriers separately. But that also went with all versions too.
The thing is you see the mark V has suspension but during WW1 only the French tanks had suspension the Mark V had rollers like the British Whippet tank.
The tank was made by the British in WWI in 1916 the first prototype was little willy (move aside any innuendos) which was essentially a black box with caterpillar tracks (tank tracks) but there was one major flaw it would always dip into the trench making it impossible for it to go across the battlefield so the first operational tank was the MKI tank ordered by General Haig , first produced at a naval base, the engine was a 4 MPH tractor engine as you didn’t need anything fast, the reason why it was shaped as a rhombus is so it could get over the trenches efficiently until it broke down (which was a major flaw of the early tanks of the First World War), male tanks were fitted with two 6 calibre guns mounted on the sides, and lewis guns too, the females only carried Lewis guns, the tanks were vulnerable to artillery (as the armour wasn’t as thick as today’s armour on tanks) eventually the Germans made their own tank the A7V which had a main front cannon and different machine guns (only 24 I think were actually made) British tanks needed a crew of eight (4 to drive it) but later tanks still needed a crew of 8 (but 1 to drive) A7V needed a crew of 24
