George Harrison didn't get to have too many of his songs on albums, but he wrote 3 of the very best they ever recorded. This one, Something and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Love you George.
"Here Comes The Sun" is on the Beatles 1969 album "Abbey Road". It was written by George Harrison. Such a happy optimistic feeling song. George also wrote the song "Something" on the same Abbey Road album.
Yes, George is the lead vocalist, the lead guitarist, the sole writer and even contributed keyboard aspects on the Harmonium and Moog Synthesizers --- but lets not forget the accompanying background harmonies by the rest of the group, as well as Ringo's drum playing and even Producer George Martin's string and woodwind arrangement adding to the overall vibe. It was always the case that there were multiple contributions to each song by other members, even when one or the other was the sole writer and main vocalist --- George himself contributed great harmonies and instrumentation to songs written and primarily sung by Lennon and McCartney --- this is what they were about --- being a group. Even during their late troubled years, they were individual personalities that worked, more or less, within the group framework --- they fed off the vibes and inspiration of their fellow bandmembers --- this is what made them great. They were equals where it counted --- the creation of their art. I see this and everything the ever produced as a _Beatles_ song first and foremost --- I even somehow (with my heart, not my mind) consider all of their solo stuff to still be _Beatle_ songs. Not sure if it's just me or if there are other fans that feel that way --- they were one entity to me and loved them all equally.
This song never fails to bring tears of joy to my eyes. And the flute-like Moog synth in the background of the last verse/chorus just sends it over the top for me. A masterpiece from George.
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is one of my all-time favorite Beatle songs. The genius of George Harrison really comes alive in this song as it showcases his talent as a songwriter and guitarist. You'll love it! Enjoy your reactions so much, you're always animated and truly into the music you react to.
This is basically George Harrison backed by Paul and Ringo (John was recovering from a car crash). Although George often had to take a back seat to the song writing talents of Paul and John, this is the most streamed Beatles' song ever on Spotify. This version is a new (2019) stereo remix by Giles Martin but it sounds to me pretty similar to the original.
I absolutely love Ringo's drum part on this song. It's pretty subtle but it's really effective. I don't really have a favorite Beatles song because there are just so many and I like them all each in their own way. Things We Said Today is a slightly earlier Beatles song that's mostly acoustically driven and it's great because it is a really serious love song set to a haunting minor key. And it is so catchy.
You're right, the drumming is just fabulous. The four lads really were each at their peak on this album. (Since you ask my favorite Beatlesong is "A Day in the Life" from the Sgt. Pepper album.)
Favorite song? Hummmmm, out of over 200. Definitely a good chore. But the one I saw at 4 years old and the rest is history. This Boy, live on the Ed Sullivan show. Definitely a great listen and would love to see your reaction. Good times, bro. ❤️🙂👊
Hey Michael, your comments about this song are totally spot-on. If this song doesn't make you feel good, there is absolutely something wrong with you and you should seek help. This song actually makes the sun come out. Cheers from Boston.
George Harrison is my favorite Beatle and I love this song. I live in Alaska and I listen to this song on the day after winter solstice as a reminder that we are gaining sunlight, even if we won't notice for a couple of months. Such a great song!
The Beattles created so many unique songs and sounds. Their sound is easily distinguishable, but there is no one style. Truly great artists. Still amazing after decades!
So many songs to choose from and my favorite Beatles song has changed from time to time over the years. Right now, it Oh Darling. Love to see your reaction to this.
usually my favorite Beatles song is the one I'm listening to at the moment. I have noticed that I find myself singing along to most of them, maybe it's the happiness coming from within me to listen.
There is no one single favorite Beatles song because they excelled in so many forms. This is one of them. Yesterday. The Long and Winding Road. Hey Jude (not "Hey Dude, Ed Sheeran!). Back in the USSR, a parody in part of the Beach Boys' California Girls. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band/A Little Help From My Friends. The Beatles songs are like Lay's potato chips... you can't eat just one.
If this is the first time you've heard "Here Comes the Sun" you probably aren't familiar with the Beatles library so I'm going to suggest another great song by them called "In My Life". I'd put both of those songs to be amongst the best Beatles tunes, like as in top two and they have a lot of great music with the exception of "Revolution #9" which was more of a sound experiment or something.
I approve of your overall recommendations. I tend to recommend “In My Life” as the first song for the average person to listen to. Another great drum part by Ringo there. I mean it’s a perfect song so yeah.
As for a favorite; it SO depends on your mood. Still, "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is entrancing, and "Sexy Sadie" is such a playfully unique mix of styles and rhythms. Maybe something a little lighter, as in "Paperback Writer"?
It's a very optimistic song, yes. A nice title too. A pleasure to spend a moment listening to this with you. Have a nice day and congratulations for your interesting work 👍🔥🔥🎸🎸💫☀️☀️🎉🎉🎸
One of the amazing things of many about the Beatles is that they could write/compose beautiful love ballads like "Yesterday" or "The Long And Winding Road" "A reflection song like "Strawberry Fields For Ever" They can write a classic rock and roll like "One After 909" or "I Saw Her Standing There" a pure pop song like "Penny Lane" to of what many say was the song that gave birth to heavy metal like "Helter Skelter", the contrast between all of them was/is Amazing and many more, is going to take you a while to explore them all but I don't think you'll be disappointed in discover to discover them all, but one thing you'll find in all them is the uniqueness and greatness every song was better than the last and on and on, they were ahead of their time, they wrote all their 210 songs in only 7 years together AS The Beatles including 32 world wide #-1-s there was nothing they can not do aware or unawre everything they touched turn to platinum Lennon/McCartney are considered the best most successful songwriters in the 20th century and so far in 21st, and Harrison holds a place of his own up there too, good vids gut, keep it up
Capo is at the 7th fret, playing in D major it sounds in concert A major. The way George plays with the D major chord shape reminds me of Roger McGuinn's Bach inspired riff on The Byrds rendition of Dylan's "Mr Tambourine Man". Also based on the D major chord shape, btw.
The Beatles were by far the Coolest looking people on the Planet!!! 👍👍Trend setters in music, hair, garb and social issues throughout the 60's and beyond!!!👍👍 No others even came close when you add it all up!!!👌👌👍👍✌✌😃😃 A couple of my all time favs would be "One After 909" and "Hey Bull Dog" along with well over 200 other Beatle songs😉😉😂😂🤣🤣✌✌😃😃
The instrument behind the song at the beginning, is a moog synthesiser. This was a very recent invention at the time ( 1969 ) and the Beatles, being the innovators that they are, naturally took advantage of it and added it in.
This is my favorite, too. Like you, it always makes me happy and brings a smile to my face. Another fave of mine, and very rarely mentioned, is No Reply.
One of my favorite Beatles' songs is a very early entry in the Lennon/McCartney songbook -- I'll Get You. Rockin' & rollin' Beatles' style!!! Here, There, & Everywhere is a mid-Beatle favorite. Something is late Beatles at their best!! Helter Skelter is so-called hard rock at its inception, & from the same LP (The White Album) is I Will, one of the most beautiful little love songs you'll ever hear!!! Anything & everything else they did before, after, or in between is also great, & well worth listening to!!
When my son was 4 years old he would try to sing along in this one. He thought it was Here Comes the Son and that it was about him! 45 years later I still smile on this one!

VId host says "This is a masterpiece." Accurate and understated. Masterpieces were the expected creations of the one, the only and the unparalleled Beatles.
ALL the Beatles songs are my favorite, it changes daily depending on my mood. It is IMPOSSIBLE to pick ONE. Listening to the Beatles is like eating a Lays potato chip, you can't like just one! LOL
The instrument you hear behind the guitar is the Moog Modular system. I love the way they use it in a subtle way and not as a wild, in your face manner. George wrote this song after a long rainy time in England. Eric Clapton was visiting him when he played it for him in the garden.
You got it so well Mike. This joyful, beautiful George Harrison song was so loved by my late wife that I had a musician come in to perform it for her after she had gone into a coma--it would have been the last song she heard (people in comas may not speak or see, but they can hear). That's exactly what she wanted. All that beautiful sunshine, and she had told me that she wanted it played at her funeral.
My favorite Beatles song is Strawberry Fields Forever which I believe is the greatest song ever written. There are so many brilliant Beatles songs it's hard to pick a favorite. My favorite George song is Something which has the best bass line ever played. My favorite Paul song is, well there are so many masterpieces, but For No One is one to react to and the list just continues.
True...but The Monkees used a Moog in 1967 on two songs: Daily Nightly and Star Collector. I believe Micky Dolenz bought one of the first Moogs when they came out!
@@betsyab121 That's cool! At some point I think Robert Moog, or engineers working for him, would just show up at major studios with the moog to see if anyone would take them up on using it in their recordings, and many did. I'm not sure the exact timeline of that, but certainly by the early 70s and perhaps earlier.
Asking what is your favourite Beatles song is a next to impossible task. Their catalogue is of such consistently high quality that' it's hard to pick one out. That's what makes them so good !
You ask what is our favourite Beatles song. Mine is possibly "Because". You have to hear that. There's also a bootleg of it with no instruments, only the voices, which is also great.
Michael. great reaction. you picked up on so many things most people take multiple listens to get. It may not be their best but think it is their most played/requested. I like so many. Some hidden gems as in not number ones for them. You Are Going to Lose That Girl. Point here. you said was great music video. There were no music videos much before the Beatles. Check out their movie Help. Every song is basically a music video, before music videos were a thing. The Monkees show was based on the inane approach seen in Help. Trend setters in so many ways. with some help from George Martin, but their combined results were amazing and the Beatles incoroporated so much of that searching, exploring on their own. Dave here. thanks again.
NASA scientists wanted to send this song to space to represent us. But the Beatles were breaking up at the time, and NASA couldn't arrange the permission. So they sent Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry instead.
Part of the story behind this song is the sun doesn't shine much in the UK. Even in the summer. It rarely gets over 80 degrees there, which is why you won't air conditioning in ANY home. They also don't have window screens in Europe. Back to my point, after a long Winter, Spring has finally arrived and the sun is coming out.
The instrument behind the opening acoustic is on of the very first Moog Synthesizers. Robert Moog had bought it to Abbey Road recording studios hoping that they might buy it... and when George sw it he had to have a play... it is all over the Abbey Road album... Keep on rocking man.
It took you a while but, glad you finally got to hear this one. One of the Beatles better ones, but then again they’re all good. George was a great musician/song writer/singer.
Release date 1969, 7 years after first stepping into a recording studio. The group broke up by spring 1970, but George (who wrote and sang this) was already releasing solo albums and recording with other groups. Remastering is necessary to adjust the sound quality to improve on substandard previous recording and duplication technologies; no doubt these songs were recorded and pressed on the very best equipment of their day, but electronics in particular improve the fastest. This song, remastered in 2019, was originally recorded 50 years prior. This is music written and recorded 55 years ago. No one familiar with the Beatles' work can name just one song as their 'favorite'. They can give you a list, but it's impossible to restrict the choice to just one. Too many genres, too many subjects.
George Harrison - lead guitarist for the beatles - was also into early electronic instruments, of this track you hear a Moog and also another synth he had with a fault, which caused it of slide down the octave when a key was pressed - rather than just junk it - they used it, in the into to this song...
Try “ The light that has lighted the World “ by George on his “ Living in the material World “ Album . Beautiful song or Be Here Now . On the same album
Ringo’s drumming is always overlooked. Drummers dunk on him ‘cos he didn’t play a 24-piece, monster kit upon which he could play the bloody melody; I tend to be annoyed by those type drummers. It’s a drummer’s role to keep time, and Ringo was an human metronome. His sense of timing and his sense of audio space was impeccable. His playing always served the song, rather than himself. I think that’s true of all of the Beatles, in fact. I can’t think of any Beatles song where any member of the band goes off on some wild tangent all his own. Each of them put the good of the overall arrangement ahead of his own ego.
The remix and the video that went along with it was put out for the 2019 anniversay version of their Abbey Road album. The original version of the album was their final studio album before the group dissolved. If you ever get a chance I suggest you listen to the Dolby Atmos version with a proper speaker setup.
George Harrison didn't get to have too many of his songs on albums, but he wrote 3 of the very best they ever recorded. This one, Something and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Love you George.
George did sing another song called do you want to know a secret and i think another but yeah when he did sing a song it was good

It's All Too Much is another George Harrison song that is a favorite. Hope you react to that one.
Check out the live version of this song George did as a duet with Paul Simon on Saturday Night Live, if you like the guitar work.
Can you imagine being a fantastic musician and songwriter but objectively 3rd best in a group of 4, that shows the calibre of the beatles
The instrument behind the guitar is one of the first ever synthesizers.
George was easily a top ten guitarist EVER. THE SHEER VOLUME OF HIGH QUALITY
Hello from Cody Wyoming! your awesome keep it up🦄
The remix and the video that went along with it was put out for the 2019 anniversay version of their Abbey Road album. The original version of the album was their final studio album before the group dissolved. If you ever get a chance I suggest you listen to the Dolby Atmos version with a proper speaker setup.
