Great talk, I would have loved to see more on the GPS tracking of this mountain range like how many GPS stations there are and where they are? I saw only a brief description of 3-5mm of rise per year and that this is known because of GPS measurement but no real in depth talk about it. A couple of people at the end asked some questions regarding this and I was hoping to get more information about it but it didn't really go anywhere.... There really isn't much in the way of talk's on the internet that I have come across that touch on this topic, everyone just simply mentions that uplift is still happening but unfortunately no more information is given! Watching this I saw two other people who seemed to be interested in this topic and I'm another which to me suggests that there's probably a lot more people out there that would be interested in the same thing. And so my search continues....
it would be interesting for a more fuller explanation of Mike Searle's interest in Basin and Range. Perhaps Francis Tucker Manns will shed some light on his "Major Mysteries" including Antler Orogeny. This winter a series of talks by Prof. Nick Zentner on the movement north from southerns US to Washington State which he labels the Baja movement.
