Norge Wash Cycle

- This is the full cycle (condensed) of my Aunt's Norge rebadged Montgomery Wards washer. It has got to be my favorite washer of alllllll time! I demonstrate the famous "Positive Safety Brake" at the end of the shortened final spin.
Washing machines were so simple back then. Today's washing machine are to computerized they say they are throw away stuff
Its funny, but without the lint filter, the “burpalator” agitator sounds more like the “smack-alator”! A friend once said a Norge doesn’t so much clean clothes as it “Bitchslapps the dirt right out of them”
Look at the size of the base of the agitator and you can see why. No other makes that I can recall had such a huge agitator in them like these.
Burbulator forever!
That’s pretty cool! I like how the agitator sprays out water on the back stroke for a filter flow action
Gotta love Norge made 20-22 lb washers I do
Some late friends of ours owned an Admiral washer that was mechanically the same as this washer-it was a very noisy washer as well-but a tough workhorse.
Your aunt is lucky
Norge called it the burpalator lint filter system.
Love these old washers,I've rebuilt many Norges over the years, sounds like that one has some Spin bearing roar going on.
@Harold Fannin I wish I could find this or the older year Norge “Genius Situation” These were Off Tha Chain Workhorse Mules!!!! Washed/EXCEPTIONAL ROLLOVER Rinsed/Spinned Superbly and Capacity UNMATCHED!!!!!!! Just Hella LOUUUUDDDDD!!!!!!!
Harold Fannin: Me too!
My mother had one of these years ago in avocado green and had a matching dryer also by Montgomery Ward. It was the Signature line.
I have to say, the agitating action really sounds a lot like it's sneezing...
Gotta love that famous "burping" Norge agitator! My mom and my aunt both owned Norge washers, and I can remember the "CLUNK" of that tub brake when the spin cycle stopped would scare the pants off me when I was a kid!
My girlfriends sisters boyfriend has a Montgomery ward washer like this and I want it!
I'm afraid my aunt lost the filter that came with it many many years ago! I wish I had one!
That tub brake stops the tub instantly!
That's why I love that agitator!!!! lol
@gemini80204 There are 2 spiral shaped channels that suck water from the bottom of the agitator and blow it out the top upon reversing direction. There is a filter pan that can be put on top of the agitator that the water jets blow the water into to filter lint out of the water, it also doubles as a detergent dispenser and to make sure that the whole load gets wet and then pulled underwater.
Wow!!!! I definitely like the way this washer washes with the spay of water 💦 spaying out of the agitator cool!!!!
I've never ever had a problem with powder residue and I've always done it this way.
I like the agitator splashing
Its giving the cloths the"backhand" smack, classic!
These machines were dependable and popular. I wish they made them like that now.
Coming from a large family (6 kids, mom and dad), plus a large family of my own, (5 kids, wife, me, and 2 kids we adopted), washers got a lot of use and didn't last very long. Five years tops and they were toast. So its kind of cool watching these old dinosaurs that still work. We switched to high capacity HE washers about two years ago. They're a Godsend. Holding nearly three times the capacity, laundry gets done a lot faster now.
And still nasty when they come out
@@marykayjenkinds477 I'll take this dinosaur over ANYTHING on the market today.
Ijust thought it was splashing for a minute
The first time I heard 3:51 it scared me.
The famous sneezing washer right here!

Back in the late '70's and on into the '80's I had an appliance business, and I would buy these Norge Washers whenever I had the chance. They had the largest capacity at the time. The only real problem that I would find is that the porcelain coating on the drum was thin, and they would rust through causing a leak. I would replace things like spin bearings, belts, pumps and so on, but I considered those things consumable repair parts. I would take care of the rust with epoxy and a bit of paint to coat it. I keep finding old washer parts as I clean out the garage where I had the business. So far I have found bellow seals for the Frigidaire "Jet Action" washer. If I find anything for a Norge, I'll let you know.
When the laundry's getting clean...you must whip it!
This could be a nice rhythm for rock n roll right you guys.
I miss the click and the clunk of those timers. The good ole days.
Next to GE washers in this era... Norge was one of the best washers made ...that could handle a 20 lb load...
marcus markus
I had a Norge 20LB. washer in the 70s and early eighties. Excellent washer but the noisiest washer I have ever heard. If I could get one now I would put my Speed Queen into retirement. These were tough no nonsense washers.
@@patcola7335 I agree with you man!!
You either used a very low sudsing detergent, or have extremely hard water, no suds!!
Nice Machine :-)
Because of the energy guide label is on the washing machine, I will put my head on it to feel the vibrations.
hehehehe,,,,,my family always laugh at me for standing and watching our laundry being washed....and finally now......I HAVE A VIDEO also to watch....soooooo cool...
Your story here is exactly the same thing for me here.
..........and me!
And meeeee!!!
Luxo essas máquinas!Melhor que as de hoje!

one of the best... Norge... Montgomery Wards....great agitation
It almost went off-balance at the start of the first spin!
wow I'm so amazed I thought I was the only one who had a thing for washing machines I see I'm not every since I was a kid it's been like this only with top loaders tho
Tylegion mizrahi I
They will never be this way again. Built to wash now we have mutant washers now.
Washing machine
Octapus2 .
Washing machine,.,

It does not have the lint filter affixed to the top of the agitator. That's why it looks like your lawn sprinkler. Excellent machines and excellent lint/animal hair filters. BTW, I am STILL using my 1976 Maytag washer.
can you post a video with the filter on the agitator??? That would be hot!
Wow, that is one fast spin cycle, never seen a top loader spin like that. Never saw many Norge machines! Are they still in business?
It's cool how it sprays water during agitation
That washer is supposed to have a lint filter basket on top of the agitator. This washer forces water up through the veins of the agitator, & is supposed to filter the lint out of the water. Why this person doesn't have the lint filter basket on top, I don't know.
@@davenwin1973 maybe they’ve broken or lost it
I'd like to.know how the burp-a-lator lint system worked.
5:28 Durante A Centrifugação Tá Com Rolamentos Estourados
Great video in my opinion STILL the best washer of all time!!
Nice washing machine bro :)
That agitator reminds me of my lawn sprinkler.
ez
very cool i just picked one up and I'm going to go threw machine
why did i just watch this whole thing
Isso sim que é suspenção a maq num se mehce nem 1 cm ja essa de hj aff melhor nem comentar
had a machine like this in the 70s with that same agitator. It was loud when washing but cleaned clothes like nothing else. These were probably the most heavy duty washers in America at one time. Truly the working man's washer !
It has some great turn over.
If a Norge couldn't wash it clean,Nothing could.
amazing machine im impressed..
While, that washer stops in a split second
No, it's to control oversudsing.
wow that spin seems like 800 rpms maybe more
super nice machine
Nice spins
Japanesa Christina
Do another one with out clothes in the washer
Good uunbalanced spin.
Where are the suds ? Dam Man ! That thing is fast !!!
Renata😙😚15?♡☆
my parents got one just like that when I was a new born
kaya Artuso uii
@StrongEnough78 I'm not a fan of suds. I always use HE detergents in all my machines!
agitatorjamie: Sears and Whirlpool always recommend using only low sudsing detergents from day 1. I'd also like Whirlpool to have this spray rinse in the first spin like they do in the final spin.
Hey agitator Jamie how are u where did u goooi hope ur okay I wanna see more of these!!
Isso sim e uma máquina de lavar roupa de verdade
As máquina dê hoje mau agitam às roupas
Elisangela Cruz agitam sim, algumas ate melhor q essa ai, por exemplo qualquer electrolux de 15kg.
I know for a fact these where made mid 1985-1991
that kinda looks like a k-m, i'm just saying bc of the knobs.
Why does the water-level not fill all the way up to the top if the agitator-vanes?
i think it needs a new belt
le Maritzas567
Burping agitator Norge???
I had purchased a used model and it was sure loud during the spin cycle, but it really cleaned your clothes and spun them out. They don't make machines like this anymore.
sounds more like it's sneezing on the wash cycle.
@jrankine91 Fresh Start powder
What I can speak spanish?
Me interesa
We had 2 Norge washers when I was growing-up. They were built like a tank & did a great job cleaning very dirty laundry!
It was the dryer, Norge dryers sucked!
Que maravilha, qto mais eles melhoram cheios de teclas vai piorando a lavagens, agora só beleza....
@lexmarks567 I'm told that the clutch is actually worn, not the belt.
I wonder why they didn't dual channel the agitator so that it would move twice as much water through the lint filter. Perhaps the filter tray wouldn't handle that amount of flow.
i used to have a norge gas dryer and im not sure if it was the dryer or if the repair person kept putting bad parts in but it would keep breaking down.
Norge dryers had a very bad repair records according to consumer reports back in the day. The washers were strong work horses but not so much the dryer’s for some reason.
I have the TOL version of that (I think)
Could you please post some videos with and without clothes. I would love to see the water agitating without clothes!!!
What year is your washer?
I don't like the splashing and spraying of the dirty water going all around the machine. It must be a pain to clean it up after the washer is done.
Critique808 , gngnhggfnhgbghgyhivvv
Does your aunt still have this washer?
What type of detergent did you use?
Tough on dirt!
By the way: as I remember, that brake sounds about like a gunshot when it engages on the full speed spin.
I know, the first power up was so loud I dropped my phone as the emergency break engaged
I subscribed
Eu sou Josefa a minha está esfregando muito lenta
Are you washing shirts, t-shirts and shorts ?
I don't like the spraying and splashing.
Critique808 Norge has a lint filter trap tray (not shown)...that fits over the top of the agitator... the spray and splashing of the water coming out of the agitator sprays excess lint into the tray from the wash tub so it doesn't remain in the washtub it also cuts down excessive lint in the dryer lint trap its also used to dissolve powder detergents into the wash tub
marcus markus check out the 1988 Montgomery Wards agitate and spin video then you can see how it works ..Norge made same washer for Montgomery Ward..
En cuanto se vende la lavadora
Hey.
Ya estoy subscrito
6:59
The spin looks kinky
Que tipo de agitador es ese??
Burpilator agitator also known as Angel Wings Agitator
First water and washing powder then cloths like is in instruction. washing powder have to dissolve ...also looks like washing was just 10 min and cloths almost didnt move--will be clean?? :(
he sped up the video so the whole thing to be seen.
Why do we need to see people washing their clothes? What is the point?
Zane Wv
These were examples of the quality machinery we had in this country at one point . That is the point. You can't buy this quality today. Only Speed Queen comes close to this nowadays.
For the same reason you gaze at a fire in a fireplace
You didn’t have to. You just have to go to the next and respect those who love washers like this one!!!
